The entire problem with the WWE style, both in the ring and on promos is- Everyone has their signature moves, but no one has a signature style
@JD260A94 жыл бұрын
Genuinely curious: how does a wrestler develop a signature style?
@ImBenjiRich4 жыл бұрын
*REDACTED* really just by wrestling a certain way and with a certain pace. For example when Brock Lesnar first returned to the WWE he had a very strong MMA style relying on actual MMA technique. Now eventually he went back to finisher spamming but that style was unique and really made him look even more intimidating than he already was and his match and move pacing lined up with that. Other examples could be the Lucha style as seen with Rey Mysterious that relies on fast paced fighting and acrobatic moves, Jeff Hardy’s and Darby Allins high flying style that emphasizes them taking extreme risks and taking bumps like they’re in a pinball machine, and finally Shinsuke’s strong style which is extremely hard hitting, stiff, fast paced, and relies on actual connecting strikes and their impact to get the crowd invested fully into the match
@ImBenjiRich4 жыл бұрын
*REDACTED* anyone can have a cool finisher but a wrestlers style can set them apart tremendously. Like I mentioned early, Darby Allin in the best example of this. Just imagine in Allin kept the Coffin Drop finisher and everything about his character yet wrestled a bland, run of the mill wrestling style. He would most likely be just another wrestler with a cool gimmick and finisher but nothing else of substance, his style of wrestling is what sets him apart
@BrandonJones-vj2ey4 жыл бұрын
@@ImBenjiRich Another example would be someone like Chris Benoit or Bret Hart that wrestled a crisp clean technical style. While it was a bit boring but it was a signature style that allowed them to tell an amazing story in the ring.

They had the perfect setup of Sami vs Owens at Mania for the Universal Title with Sami with winning the Rumble. He was done with his feud with Braun at that point and was ready for the final push. How Adam Would Have Booked Finn Balor as Universal Champion (as if the injury didn’t happen)

The thing is, Adam doesn't try to book around real life injuries. That's more of a Pllana Productions kind of fantasy booking i.e. what if Eddie didn't die or what if CM Punk didn't quit WWE.
@jonathonbartos30614 жыл бұрын
Adam generally only drops shoot injuries if the booking eliminates the circumstances that led to the injury. For example, in the Invasion fantasy booking, Adam had Triple H be a major player in it, even though Trips missed the Invasion in real life after tearing his quad. No Austin heel turn=no Two-Man Power-Trip=no match with Jericho and Benoit on Raw=no torn quad.

I haven’t watched an Adam video in forever and it’s so good to hear and see him so sharp! Loved it. I met Shinsuke Nakamura 3 times (twice in one day, all at meet and greets). His English is excellent! I disagree with the notion Nakamura needed a translator or mouthpiece. I would have slowed his cadence down and use words that can be strongly annunciated and can make great t-shirts. He used to do that in Japan (calling out Tanahashi, for example, by breaking the syllables down; he did do it at Royal Rumble ‘18). He’s my favorite wrestler ever and although I wish he didn’t lose so much shine in WWE, I am glad he had the career he’s had. The Cesaro tag team has potential.

Adam starts this premise of rebooking Shinsuke Nakamura, but in actuality rebooks a year and a half of Smackdown

It was an aggressively stupid period of booking for SDL. Infamously terrible, even by modern WWE standards. Wasn't this the same period where it was revealed Road Dogg was a writer/booker for SDL and he (fairly or not) caught a ton of fan anger online blaming him for what a mess it all was? They had so much incredible talent and multiple instances of organic fan support for wrestlers that WWE actively tried to quash and destroy.

I'm genuinely impressed at how Adam has kept his booked universe consistent and with little to no contradictions. Whatever his next entry is, I can't wait. P.S. Please let it be The Revival's Main Roster Run. Do them justice better than how WWE sloppily handled them.

Every time Adam says "Zayn", my brain asks me: "When did Shinsuke have a match wit Z-Man Brian Zane?" Serious question: Did NJPW "get lucky" that WWE poached Nakamura and Styles when they did? It paved the way for Omega vs. Okada and the two Okada vs. Naito Tokyo Dome main events.

Your comment made me realize how NJPW can make the best out of awful situations and building new stars in the process
@glenndallas71714 жыл бұрын
They didn't get lucky, they just do an immensely better job at building an entire talent pool so people are ready to move up.

At this point it just feels like NJPW kidnapped Vince McMahon from 1999 and are using him there as a prisoner...and have replaced him with this clown WWE right now...
@andocommando30714 жыл бұрын
NJPW had guys that could fill those spots Styles and Nakamura left in Naito (who had returned from this Mexico excursion) and Omega. Though I doubt if neither had left if Omega would become the "Best Bout Machine" or if Naito ever would have won the IWGP Heavyweight Title

I really look forward to these videos. You're incredibly talented and creative with booking and I think we'd all love to see some of these ideas play out. Hopefully one of these days someone will reach out to you with an opportunity to implement some of your ideas whether that's WWE or AEW. I watch both and I think either one would be very well served to utilize your talents

He was ruined so early. After his match against Zane in NXT, everyone was thinking: "OMG! What are they going to do with this guy! What exciting angles are they going to put him in! How are they going to utilise his incredible natural charisma to create amazing feuds!?" Aaaaaaand WWE decided to just kind of NOT. Cut to the next week's NXT when he and bland babyface Finn Balor stood in the ring and cut a super slow and super awkward "I want to fight you for no reason and with zero stakes because I respect you." Promo, with both awkwardly and stiffly smiling and nodding at the crowd... Okay, great... you killed it.

Few problems on this one, starting the AJ heel turn early means your match with him against Corbin becomes heel vs heel and you can't build excitement for that. Also, you completely pull all the heat out of Corbin and give him nothing to build up with to be put back in the 3way match 2 months later.
