Not sure if you’re aware, but Refik Anadol Studios raised 2 million usd (and more in royalties) through their NFT collection called ‘Winds of Yawanawa’. 80% of the funds generated from the collection have been directly donated to the Yawanawa Tribe in their own smart contract in order to help them building a cultural centre that’s focused on empowering them in their quest to educate others about their culture, Amazonian culture as well as the general need for ecological preservation. This isn’t the average donation that never reaches those putting in the real work.

I seriously don't understand why AI needs to do art so badly. It's the only thing expressing the essence of humanity, that wasn't meant to be replicated by a machine. The human expression isn't found in slinging around Amazon boxes for minimum wage, something a robot should be doing. No, we have to force the robots doing art. One day you'll see how boring and dystopian it's going to be, if art, creation and storytelling is only made by artificial intelligence. It's already too late.

Spoken word and writing can be art, so if you can't physically play music, paint, sculpt, etc. there are ways to express yourself artistically that don't involve taking the lazy route and forcing a program to create something for you. If you can't understand that, or if you don't understand how sacred art is to humanity, then I highly doubt you're even real.

Worked at Deloitte for good 5 years had good relations with fellow co-workers & superiors and most importantly good performance record, but at the end of the day still got layed off in the month of May-2023, citing lacks of projects as the major reason. When in reality i know these companies are deliberately downsizing their human workforce, so they can train AI models on the tasks with much fewer and fewer people to check the AI's work. Honestly the Age of AI has only brought more doom and gloom for the common man. Alot more tech layoffs are on the way, the Faang companies have drastically reduced overall hiring, some have actually stopped new hiring altogether. Your job isn't safe regardless of which career you choose.

AI can not make anything truly unique. You can perhaps make it copy Quentin Blakes style, but it would never come up with it on its own. AI is copying the past, but it can not forsee what you as a living artist might come up with in the future. AI copy stuff, in the way an alien might if trying to understand a human.

The lack of regulations of this particular technology have negative impact on artists and art in general. I am certain the technology will turn into useful tools soon enough. As of now I am sick and overwhelmed by all the glossy trash, AI art generators have showered the internet with. The personality and uniqueness of an artist seems to be replaced as artists are losing their already underpaid jobs, to these cliche factories.

AI Art will never be comparable to that of a human. AI cannot be intentional and can‘t hold sentiments. All sentimental value is solely held by the viewers instead of the AI creator. On top of that, AI cannot breakthrough on its own. It‘s reliant on data, whether ethically or unethically sourced. AI can only create within the scope it was given, which humans are not limited by. This is why AI can never be as smart as a human. No matter how much AI art is pushed, it‘s a tool, which people due to the nature of the human are going to misuse more than bring positive change. It‘s really important to be distinctive between the machine that is AI and the human behind it because it‘s all the human’s doing. It‘s why you see AI in general being discriminatory and in my opinion, Refik‘s vision to create memories of the whole world is just so wrong because it‘s virtually impossible and also demeaning to merge cultures and expriences into one machine for it to create images.
