I admire Visbeek, he saw a value in Bini and patiently trained him to be where he is now, not a lot of trainers do that.

I think he deserves a credit for taking a chance on Bini. But Bini was no fluke, he did all this development in Eritrea before he come to Europe (at 18). Let’s put it this way, Bini has not won the Eritrean country championship as of yet, with all the wining he has done internationally. This shows how competition in Eritrea is fierce and quite difficult and Bini comes out of that. Granted the Eritrean championship doesn’t suit him, as there was never sprint finish. In juniors, Bini was the only guy he beat Remco in one of the races but no one in the world tour was willing to sign him off. Visbeeek saw that and gave him the opportunity but, Internarche didn’t have much option as they were facing relegation and i believe Bini saved them with his two or three wins when he joined the team.

I think of goals as three P's: Process (habits, etc.), Physiology (getting lighter, stronger, more resilient, etc.), Performance (doing the best you can on a particular day or period). Decreasing amounts of control. But you can't have the later ones without the prior ones.

Interesting! How do you train and set a goal for positioning? The necessary condition not the sufficient to win is to have a good position. I would have set a performance metrics like the ratio of total number good position to the number of sprints for that year. Then compare that number with the best sprinter of the year.
