The point about Ainz viewing lives unequally is very interesting because it brings to light just how important it is when he swears something by his own name or that of Nazarick, because he’s essentially elevating the priority of that person or promise to a nearly equal level to Nazarick itself and the subordinates which he considers family. That’s why Ainz’s subordinates have such strong reactions when Ainz swears something by his name because they understand the importance of that gesture but it’s difficult for them to understand why he would value something outside of Nazarick so highly.

Yes, but the happiness of the ones he loves involves torturing and murdering though. Doing anything to ensure they can continue to do that does not exactly sound even vaguely noble. And as for safety, (1) no one is threatening them, in fact no one even knew they are there until they showed up and started killing everyone in sight, and (b) they are level 100 where the highest level on every other NPC in the world is 50 at best, meaning the only people in actual danger are the other NPCs in the world. Ainz is trying to sound noble, but he is just talking a lot of gibberish so he has an excuse to kill people for no reason. He has no strategy or objective, other than to wander around aimlessly in the hopes of finding info on whether other players, specifically people from his guild, are in the world somewhere. And if they are, what does he plan to do with that information? Go look them up? The repercussions for doing that are unlikely to be good for him so why do that? It would make a whole lot more sense to simply lie low and not get noticed.

In Japan, education is compulsory through 9th grade and age 15. So, the human player has at least that much education and is highly intelligent. You can't get smarter (fluid intelligence), but he can get more knowledgeable which is why he's reading books in the Great Library (Ashurbanipal). He may not understand European history and what a vassal state is, but Japan has a first rate math and science education which ranks 6th and 5th in the world (2018 PISA test for 15 year olds) vs. United States ranked well below (37th place for math and 18th place for science).

You know how, when you pick up a, say... purple quality weapon in an MMORPG. It always has stats, it gives strength/intellect, Stamina, etc, and often some secondary stats like "crit chance" and "Haste" etc... Those stats represents the mechanical function of the enchantments the weapon has lorwise. If said weapon has runes on it... then, from an IRL perspective, sure, they're cosmetic... From a lore standpoint, the runes ARE what causes the enchantment. :P If there are no runes, then the weapon was enchanted with magic, rather than rune-crafted. With or without runes, an enchanted weapon is an enchanted weapon. Runes are just another way of enchanting weapons. So, no, the runes, are NOT cosmetic in the New World... They WERE cosmetic in Yggdrasil, but LORE became REAL in the New World... So they are no longer cosmetic.

You kinda missed a crucial point about the dwarves' defense: The Quagoa found a hidden path that bypassed the -initial fortress- _canyon which was defended by the fortress_ where they had most of their lightning magic items which are super effective against the Quagoa who are very resistant against most normal weapons. That fortress with those magic items and mages was what allowed them to easily defend against the Quagoa. But with the bypass, they were able to attack the fortress -from behind- _without crossing the bridge where lightning items would be super effective_ . -I don't remember the details exactly but I think the canyon was also supposed to be outside in front of the fortress but the bypass went behind the fortress.- And the door they closed was in front of the capital. It had nothing to do with the fortress and when they noticed the attack and closed the door, the fortress was already completely overwhelmed. Edit: Some of this was wrong, see my response below for the details, I think the anime mostly portrayed it correctly but the video still incorrectly gives the number of Quagoas as the reason why the defense failed when the bypass was really the crucial point.

I mean it did say cut content not stuff that was in the episode and for the canyon point he just put background footage from the show
@1vader2 жыл бұрын
@@thatsunfortunate2205 I don't think any of this was mentioned or shown in the episode and if what I wrote about the canyon placement above is true (that part specifically I don't remember exactly) the show also got the canyon wrong which is again something that I'd expect to be mentioned in a video like this. And he also specifically mentioned that the dwarves weren't able to defend because of the large number of Quagoa as if that's the only reason but it's definitely not and if I remember correctly, it's not even the main reason since bypassing the lightning magic items in the fortress at the canyon was the real issue. And also that all the magic items and IIRC also almost all of the lightning mages were in the fortress so they didn't have any in the capital to defend it after they got around the fortress.
@CNNBlackmailSupport2 жыл бұрын
@@1vader Going by what I understood, and keep in mind that I am not like a huge Overlord expert, the bridge was the route to the new entrance, but not the new entrance they were referring to. The gate was the entrance, and it was not protected like the front gates were. I seem to recall dead dwarves outside of it, and it was only a matter of time before the Quagha or whatever were going to break through. The dwarves didn't have the numbers to defend the front gates and the secret entrance at the same time. I'm fairly sure that aligns with what you are saying. That's what a layman gathered, assuming I'm not completely misunderstanding what happened. It sounds like you know what you are talking about, but maybe the anime did a better job of explaining the situation than you are giving it credit for. Either way, thank you for giving more insight into the importance of the secret entrance and the front gate defense.
@1vader2 жыл бұрын
@@CNNBlackmailSupport I just rewatched this part of the anime and it indeed mentioned the bypass right at the end of the episode before this one. I guess I must have missed or forgotten about that. I also checked the LN again and it says the bypass went around the canyon and "alongside the fortress". Then there was a tunnel behind the fortress leading to a garrison which is where the gate was and behind the garrison was the city. So I guess I was wrong, the anime more or less portrayed this correctly. But I still think the video doesn't quite portray it correctly and doesn't really bring up all the cut content properly. Specifically, I think it's wrong to say that the large number of Quagoa is the reason the defenses failed. The LN explicitly says that even the large number wasn't enough but the Quagoa leader ordered searches for a bypass. And as mentioned, the fortress had lightning items which are ofc great for defending a bridge and the Quagoa are also weak against electricity which IMO also would have been nice to mention.

That last part was basically Ainz protecting the guild and all that he and his fellow guildmates had created. That bit with the Quagoas being united under a High Chief while interesting to have known about it was not something that would have made it to anime format especially when you are limited to 13 episodes with no split-cour season planned. I'm sure many have heard the news or figured it out by now with the mentions of the Holy Kingdom on episode 8 but the anime is skipping volumes 12 to 13 which covered the Holy Kingdom Arc and jumping straight to volume 14 which is the Downfall of the Re-Estize Kingdom because volumes 12 and 13 are being made into a movie which is a good move on their part because this adds a bit of consistency with what was started with the Re-Estize Kingdom this season. BTW, as of right now in terms of English translations, volume 14 is the furthest Overlord LN is at. So from here on out, the anime has in a sense caught up with the LN just like how DanMachi this season too has caught up to the EN translated LN aside from Volume 16.

Good thing I watched these videos in order and totally didn't downplay the tensions between the angry furies and the short Bois.

reminder,, Momonga is the Leader of Powerful Non-Human Guild and one of the top most powerful Guild in-game. imo, he become the leader not by coincidence nor popularity. imo,, 41 guild members band together under him and bless him as leader cuz they acknowledged him.

Infamous would be better since guild ranking doesn’t exactly mean powerful

Guild leaders don't work like that, they are more ceremonial positions with some basic powers. Guilds are much more democratic than that, the leader can't just do whatever they want, they will very quickly be the only one in the guild if they did 😂

It's such a shame there is a lot of skipped content in Overlord but at least thanks to videos like these it is explained.

Not going to deny it, I am without a doubt insane. After reading that line about how not all life is equal, I wholeheartedly agree with that statement. Not in the same sense as Ainz for Nazarick, but in terms of value and capability. Between a corrupted politician an a farmer, I would choose a farmer any day over the other.

Not all lives are equal. The lives of those we hold dear are far more valuable than anything, even our own. To be able protect them, one must not rely from others help, but strive to become stronger. Ainz-Sama is JUSTICE! Weakness is a SIN! -Best Girl. Neia Baraja
