ou #8 is smart! Great way to funnel passionate users into future research ops. Also referrals sound like a really good idea because I imagine you get pre-screened peeps that are likely very similar to the person you are talking to! Haven't done this myself tho

Yeah! Google's example is this: userresearch.google.com/ I guess another way to recruit participants would be to do ads on FB or other social media, because I've seen their ads all over the place, too.

How do you determine the sample size? I've heard 5 - 8 is a good number to find 85% of the problems but is there a way to calculate it?

Hi Kevin! Great channel!!!! I know you did a few videos about UX Research portfolios, but since I'm new to Research, I'm having a problems with timing... I mean, what should I do if a recruiter ask me for a portfolio but I don't have one yet, or I'm still finishing my first UX case? What should I do if I don't have anything yet, but it's crucial to send something in a short amount of time?
@zerotoux

Hey Alexandre! Ooohhh this is such a special case, but let's work through it 😎👊 First I would consider asking the recruiter what the hiring manager wants to see, and explain your situation where you haven't had one prepared yet since you're new, being honest essentially. I think they would understand if you're new (unless you're interviewing for some senior position lol). I also understand you don't want to come off as TOO noob.. So if you're still finishing your first UX case, document what you have so far up until that point. Explain what your next steps might be, and potential impact you expect to see. If you don't have other UX cases, consider writing about past research work from school projects, work, or anything else. Lemme know what you think!

Hi Niti!! Thanks for watching!! Hmm definitely try Instagram channels for entrepreneurs, or Facebook groups. Other places, userinterviews.com or respondent.io, or even Amazon Mturk you can screen for them

I didn't understood Flyers & Pamphlets concept, how to execute that?
@zerotoux

It's posting posters and flyers advertising your research study in public spaces, like telephone pole, or bulletin board.

Thanks for sharing :) just wondering if you have some suggestions on how to recruit B2B users? Or even the person who has power to decide either buy this product or not
@zerotoux
@zerotoux 5 жыл бұрын
Great question! B2B recruiting is such a painnnn! But start with your account managers, sales team, or work through a vendor. One thing you could do is also try user testing tools, and recruit generally your target group. Like "CRM experts wanted" or "Salesforce users wanted", depending on what you're looking for. What have you tried??

Hi Kevin! I'm doing pro-bono research (via user interviews) to build my portfolio with a start-up, and welp we got no $$$ to offer as an incentive...how would you go about trying to get ppl to do a 20-30 min interview without any money to offer...I've got some ideas, but man its hard to ask for that much time without compensation. Any insight helps :D
@zerotoux
@zerotoux 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it is hard! But kudos to you for trying to do it! You could get them a free cup of coffee, or some non monetary stuff like stickers, lanyards, $5 gift card etcs...or yeah just keep asking for free until you get the number you need lol. Then ask those people for referrals to help you, and so on. And make sure to tell them how their feedback is super important to helping your product and may be incorporated into the design

@@zerotoux Thank you for the ideas!!! I'm literally just trying to post on all possible recruiting channels, slack channels, linkedin pages, etc etc and hoping the lack of social interaction people are experiencing will open them up for a conversation LOL Will consider the tips though if people get turned off by the amount of time I am asking.

Any tips if I can't afford to offer incentives to people?
@zerotoux
@zerotoux 5 жыл бұрын
Are you working for a company ? Or doing solo pro bono work? You can always try it for free, but it's nice to be able to thank people for helping you! If not money, it could be a cup of coffee, candy, or free hugs haha Anyone have other ideas??
@Ralphunreal
@Ralphunreal 5 жыл бұрын
@@zerotoux It's on my own as a personal project, trying to do a new portfolio with case studies. Right now free has worked sometimes but it can be harder other times. I think it would be harder online vs going to places in real life if you have no incentives, do you agree?
@zerotoux
@zerotoux 5 жыл бұрын
@@Ralphunreal yeah online would be tough , you could always ask the zero to UX community to help do your study! Or I could ask for you. In person people might be more willing but that's just an assumption

Hi Kevin, Does collecting data and information from social media comments considered a method of UX research?
