I think people are just fixating too much on it. They gave Ahsoka a staff and white robes in the epilogue to make the comparison to Gandalf more obvious to the viewer. It's just clothes.
@1idd0kun
@1idd0kun Жыл бұрын
The point is, the change of clothes probably means we'll get to see Ahsoka's emotional growth in the show. Whether that means she will get her white robes at the end of the show is anyone's guess, but that's not really important. The emotional journey and character growth is what matters.

Plus the clothes would be easier to get past if it were just the clothes. The gear and weapons though. That is not as simple. Ahsoka does not have her Staff from Rebels, Sabine does not have her blasters from Rebels, nor does she have her Lightsaber from Ahsoka in Rebels. Too much is changed and don't believe that is for no reason.

I'm on your boat, I think Filoni is taking his chance to actually tell how Ahsoka evolved from Grey to White. Not as a matter of power level, just pure character development. Rebels' epilogue inferred that Ahsoka went beyond from what she was, and now we'll discover how.

I think the epilogue and what we saw in Ahsoka are two different things. When Ahsoka first got back together with Sabine, that’s when she first started training her, but then they went apart again and then met and got together once again, which is what we saw in Ahsoka.

I think this is definitely the case and I think the fact that Sabine's mural looks the same in animation and live-action indicates to me, at least, that Rebels is a story being told from Sabine's PoV and through her art.

Totally with you on this, Alex. At least some of the shots are identical, and Sabine goes to the mural in exactly the same way. It seems like people are overlooking the presentation of the mural itself, too. If the two scenes are at separate points, that means the mural is already in that space, then it's moved forward for the formal dedication on the anniversary of Ezra's sacrifice, then it's moved back again. It's much simpler, and more intuitive, that the ceremony is the first time the mural is publicly viewable. In live action, Sabine doesn't put her helmet on, but that doesn't make these events separate either, and I think the reason (in addition to the brief exchange with Ahsoka) is clear. Sabine still has an arc of her own. Also, she had drawings on board the T-6 because, yes, she'd been on it before. It's okay for the initial, post-Rebels meeting and training to be off-screen. For Ahsoka herself, the idea of her having reverted from the 'White' stage to the 'Gray' doesn't make sense, especially with the Gandalf comparison. And when she presents Sabine with "how to find Ezra", there's no indication from either character that that's happened before. If it _had,_ I don't think Sabine would've shown the interest that she did in the episode.

I absolutely agree. When Rebels ended, I don't think anyone knew what would happen to the characters. Dave Filoni gave us an epilog just in case he never got to play out the stories again.

tbf maybe in Ahsoka Part 2 when she arrives on Lothal to pick up Sabine (after she's cut her hair), off screen her shuttle was escorted by 2 x-wings and Sabine was just chillin on the tower, and that the T-16 shuttle with the 2 x-wings in Part 1 was just a nod So basically, Ahsoka travelled to Lothal twice, but in Ahsoka the 2nd time, which was at the end of Rebels, was left offscreen in Ahsoka Part 2

It's like complaining about the voice acting in "Metroid: Other M" all over again. Yes, the dialogue in that game is even worse than the dialogue in the Prequel Trilogy, and some parts of the story are very controversial, but there were always good reasons why Samus's voice acting itself was so emotionless.

This is 100% how I interpret it. Dave Filoni wanted to briefly communicate the concept at the end of Rebels, but now gets to tell the whole story. It wouldn't make any sense for her to have been "The White" years ago and then revert. We'll probably see the white robes at some point in the future.

I look at the animated shows as something like a visual representation of someone relating a story - perhaps to a child - while the live-action offerings are the historical realities. Sometimes you make things colorful when relaying a tale to a child, but once the child grows up and sees the historical record, they realize that no major points have changed, just some of the descriptions.
@Compucles
@Compucles Жыл бұрын
That's very possible, especially since the live action mural is done in the artistic style of "Rebels," meaning that "Rebels" itself might actually be an in-universe production where Sabine herself was the art designer. (Meanwhile, they got Ryder Azati to voice himself.)

Given how much stuff that the previous animated series retconed (often pointlessly), I just view this as harmless creative licence.
@MunificentSunbeam

Examples, please?
@mr.sniffles7268
@mr.sniffles7268 Жыл бұрын
@jamesparkin9267 One example of a retcon that comes to mind is how the clones take orders. In the movies, the clones were "totally obedient, taking any order without question." Order 66 was simply and order that came from the highest authority, they had no reason not to follow it. In the Clone Wars, the clones are far more independent, and question orders all the time. They even needed control chips to force them to turn on their jedi. It's a pretty big change, I would argue with much bigger plot implications than Ahsoka's clothing. For the record, none of this really matters. Personally, I think people should just accept that a fictional universe will not always be internally consistent.
@MunificentSunbeam
@MunificentSunbeam Жыл бұрын
@@mr.sniffles7268 I can think of a few more too, but I'm unconcerned about them. I like the canon chip story better, bc it makes the clones' story more tragic.
@Compucles
@Compucles Жыл бұрын
@@mr.sniffles7268 That was the case in the "Revenge of the Sith" novelization and some Legends material, but we didn't see enough of the clones' personalities in the actual movies to be able to tell one way or another. As such, the retcon works with the new canon. A better example is how some details of Depa Billaba's death and Caleb Dune's escape were changed unnecessarily even after accounting for how the Bad Batch were retconned into the story. Anyway, I agree that it's only minor artistic license, and the new canon is at least a lot more internally consistent than Legends was. How many ways were the Death Star plans and Shuttle Tyderium stolen again? And those were only the most blatant examples.

I don't think anyone would prefer to miss out on the arc. If we're assuming that these are intended to be the same moment, in the original version, that arc happened before the journey to find Ezra. I believe the majority of people who want the scene to match would've liked to see that Ahsoka evolution arc as its own story, then this arc of the search for Ezra as its follow-up.

I thought the scene in the epilogue happened *before* the beginning of Ahsoka, and was a previous attempt to find Ezra - the scene in Ahsoka where Sabine boards Ahsoka's ship and goes into a bunk where her drawings cover the wall seemed to confirm that to me. That and the fact that Ahsoka had taken Sabine on as an apprentice, means that the two of them had to have spent at least a decent amount of time together before the show's current time line. Enough time has passed that Sabine had time to grow out her hair after her return to Lothal and before Ahsoka finds the map. Perhaps her failure with training Sabine also fed her refusal to train Grogu when Din asked her to take him on. Anyway, there doesn't seem to be much of a discrepancy to me. She could have made the mural well before the idea of a formal dedication was thought of, as an expression of her love for her adopted family and the sacrifices they all made.

I also had that same reading initially, but the Rebels ending shows the mural that supposedly was being inaugurated during episode 1 of Ahsoka. Now I'm pretty much convinced the scene from the Rebels ending is in fact the moment when Ahsoka goes back to get Sabine after she says that she's ready (Sabine has short hair and full armor), which should happen during episode 3 of Ahsoka, or even off screen between episodes 2 and 3 (we haven't seen ep 3 yet). The only thing "off" might be the color of Ahsoka's robes.

I feel like the epilogue of Star Wars Rebels and the similar scene in Ahsoka are different scenes altogether. Starting off, I think that the timeline might look like this: Sabine and Ahsoka take off, both for the purpose of finding Ezra and also to train Sabine in the force, somewhere along the way they pick up Huyang from who knows where, and over time Ahsoka and Sabine grow frustrated at the lack of progress and regress back to who they were. Sabine doesn't want to be anything at all, either Mandalorian or force user, and Ahsoka continues to search for the way to Thrawn and Ezra, but it almost becomes an obsession for her. She might report in occasionally as fulcrum, but almost all of her effort is on anything and everything Thrawn related. I like this more because it just feels less "charactery". People go on many journeys in their life, they have highs and lows, hopes and failures, but in the end, things usually work out. And like Huyang implies, sometimes you just need to give things another shot. Not everything happens in one go, but every time you start that journey again, there's a chance things will work out. The Rebels Epilogue was the first attempt, and Ahsoka will be the time when things work out.

Ahoska has been Gandalf the grey since ending of Clone Wars and is just now going trough a rebirth as Ahsoka the white.

Or... the ending of Rebels was when Ahsoka took on Sabine as an apprentice, and the live action scene took place years later when they both agreed it was time to complete their mission.

I thought it was obvious that these two scenes were separated scenes years apart. The the end of rebels, Sebine is about to start her training with Ahsoka.

Okay thats nice and all but what if the rebels epilogue was before the point where the series takes off ? Would fill the gap of when she trained sabine and leave room for what ever happend that made them part ways.

Yeah, that's nice but what about the staff? It seemed to have some significance other than showing us that she's older.

I dont think both are the same moment.... I feel the original Rebels ending was the 1st time Ahsoka started training Sabine and looking for Ezra... but since she "failed" that's why she is no longer white and now they are going to try again and therefore how similar they both are, but she is no longer the white, now grey but eventually once they save Ezra she will use the white again

You know , I suppose that makes sense, I honestly didn't think that there was a retcon going on To me it seemed like the end of rebels happened, Ahsoka met with Sabine, they had a falling out, and this is even further down the timeline then what was shown at the end of Rebels, and I was just curious where Hera's kid was I'm fine with it either way, just hope it doesn't get too confusing

Maybe all Jedi are Grey Jedi now. Daisy (sorry Rey) was Grey (her very name pointed that fact out), even Luke had turned Grey in the Disney sequels.

Episode 1 showed Sabine’s drawings on Ahsoka’s ship in the bunks. I think these two events are different, that they tried looking before, stopped, and now it’s time to start again.

I’m confused. I thought Ahsoka in white went to get Sabine to train. Then somehow they split up Sabine goes back to Lothal and the scene in the live action show happens after the scene in the epilogue…

I think these are two different shots - one before and one after. Reintroducing the same scene at different times. Perhaps the staff and robes are something that will come at a later time - grey -> white robes.. or it could just be nothing

I dont understand the complaint of Ahsoka being stoic or somber.. she is still continually using the force. She has now seen what happens to a jedi that uses their emotions.. all the claims by the jedi order that emotions will lead to the dark side are now validated. She realized after fighting vader that she needed to keep her emotions in check as she became more powerful in the force.. she is acting like a jedi knight. Reserved.. lacking the showing of emotion.. it makes perfect since to me . If she gave up being a force user then i could see her still having her old personality but she is basically a jedi knight .. possibly master.. in all aspects but title. Even if she doesnt claim to be (even though hara called her a jedi and she never disputed it like previously)

I've been critical of how Ahsoka has been acting ever since she debuted in Live Action though, it's not just because she isn't acting like she did in Clone Wars, she doesn't even act like she did in Rebels either! You're telling me that someone who is willing to let the Inquisitors live after they try to kidnap children and are willing to kill their rescuers and anyone else that stands in their way will then go on to slaughter an entire army of Morgan Elsbeth's footsoldiers holding a town hostage for its resources is just part of a journey? No, that's regression. Or at least it is some kind of aftereffect from going into the underworld of Malachor because she is smirking as she takes those guys out, when she was actively meditating before stopping the Inquisitors from striking her down. She's willing to fight Vader, but it's to assist Ezra and Kanan's mission, and then also to face her own fears and grow beyond them, and then she helps keep Ezra from endangering himself again and even quite possibly breaking the universe in the World Between Worlds. She's better than whatever it is that's going on with her in Live Action. Did she still have things to work through in Rebels? Yes, she struggles with the Jedi Temple, she keeps going off to do other things by herself, but when she is present, you can see that she has evolved into what a Jedi is supposed to be, even so far as to letting her enemies live despite how heinous their actions may be (well, maybe not Vader, she wanted to avenge Anakin's death, or at least die trying, which is still noble considering what Vader is capable of compared to his underlings). In Live Action, she's both for the rules and against the rules. She's impatient and gave up on Sabine, decided she was not right for Grogu, but also won't allow Din to "break the rules" either when he goes to visit Luke's academy despite the fact that she breaks from conventional Jedi protocol to achieve her goals, too. She's also violent towards people, almost gleefully so, and that's not very Jedi-like either. I'm not saying she's a saint, sometimes you still gotta do what you gotta do, she's killed before (a great example from Clone Wars is on Carlac where she slits four Mandalorians' throats in one move), but her entire persona is all out of whack from when we even saw her in Rebels. I believe those trading cards of Ahsoka descending those steps into the pool on Malachor are considered Canon, only Dave really knows exactly what's happening there, but it only makes sense to me that something happened to her because this is not how Ahsoka should or would act otherwise. Where as before it was some kind of baptisms and rebirthing into becoming Ahsoka the White, now I see it as some kind of Dark Side possession since it was on a Sith world, and she needs to be cleansed of it by some other means. In Rebels, she was a bit more reserved, perhaps even melancholic, but still sympathetic to the plight of others as she was acting as Fulcrum and providing Rebel cells with missions to help the Galaxy, but in Live Action, even though the Empire is defeated for the most part and she's still working to help others, there's a darkness that wasn't present before, and it's suspicious.

@mikemcdevitt9570

Why assume these two similar scenes are depicting the same moment in time? The animated version might have been just after the Battle of Endor or even the Battle of Jakku. Sabine has a different speeder bike, she's flanked by Loth Wolves, and her mural is in a room surrounded by rubble, as if from heavy construction or a battle. Unless during this series Ahsoka tells us flat out "I've never owned a staff or worn white robes" or more likely "We've never tried to find Ezra before." I'm going to cling to the literal images and imagine they tried to find him at least once before and it didn't pan out. Maybe all they managed to achieve last time was to find Huyang and lose the staff.
@mikemcdevitt9570

Maybe last time they tried this they found a big chunk of the Chimera somewhere and decided Ezra and Thrawn were most likely disintegrated or whatever usually happens if you have no transparisteel between you and the blue hyperspace tunnel.
