The force works in mysterious ways. I don't think Ahsoka is leaving Peridea so soon, if ever. I interpreted that scene as Morai telling Ahsoka that she has a purpose here, maybe even her destiny since Morai saved her from dying all those other times just so she could be in Peridea.

Wow, that remnant of the Daughter statue is a wild detail that I missed during my viewing. They definitely designed it so that it could go either way. The sleeve and armband look just like Ahsoka's, but the neckline could either be her Lekku or the Daughter's collar.

For the last few years, I have been wondering if we are going to see Ahsoka become one with the Force. After all, she was one of the voices, guiding and assisting Rey during the final battle with Sidious.

I do hope we see Ahsoka return to the known galaxy at some point. It would be great for her character to try and assist Luke's Jedi Order, but perhaps her own attitudes towards the Jedi like we've seen with Anakin unintentionally impact Luke's own fears as we see in The Last Jedi's flashback. A final duel with Kylo Ren would be a fitting final act for her, finally undrrstanding what she can't control, but knowing thanks to her experiences outside of time that there is still hope.

The Mortis gods really make me realize how full circle my own Star Wars fandom has evolved… I HATED the Mortis arc when it first came out because I thought it would change the entire mythos and our perception of the force (and also cuz I was y’know… young and angry)… and then I got older and realized I loved it BECAUSE it changed the entire mythos and my perception of the force. 😅

It really feels like it could definitely be the Father's monastery, though when he died, the crystal fell (and so did all levitating things on Mortis) and collapsed on the monastery before exploding. (I suppose there could be a 2nd one. Maybe one for this universe's [physical] dimension?)

I guess the Mother (Abeloth) could have gotten there, and thus, it's working again or something. Maybe she's trapped there, calling Baylan to save her (she did lure people - specifically Force users - into her prison in Legends) (tricking him).
@Marandahir
@Marandahir Жыл бұрын
Mortis was a plane of metaphor, an extension of the Mortis Gods, Ben, Ani, and Snips. Peridea is real - the howlers, the Noti, the raiders, the witches, these show us the place exists beyond just being extensions of these Force Wielders and their guests. Mortis also had weird seasons that went with the day night cycle, which Peridea does not. I could see Peridea being the physical place of the Force Wielders while Mortis was a spiritual location they created to test Anakin and his companions. After all, Morai still lives, and the Force itself didn’t die when the Mortis Gods did, but the Father did say so as his Son’s power grows and his Daughter’s diminishes, so does the Clone War rage and the shadow of the Sith’s return lengthens. Mortis is a metaphor for the unbalance of the Force, but that doesn’t mean that Anakin killing Palps’ original body set everything aright. Anakin is the Chosen One, or A Chosen One - perhaps Luke and Rey are also, for prophecies are confusing and Ben and Maul seem to believe Luke actually is the One while Ani tells Rey to bring back the balance like he did. So we know Anakin had to bring back the balance too, and he brought it inside himself for sure as we saw here in Ahsoka. But perhaps now we have to see the Mortis Gods in the flesh rebuilt their sanctum.

I just had a thought and please don't blast me in the comments for it, but what if Perridia is actually Dave Filoni's version of Heliopolis from the Stargate SG-1 episode "Torment of Tantalus"? In that episode, SG-1, the heroes of the show, visit a planet where a man was trapped and learned a lot about four ancient alien races who gathered there to exchange knowledge and formed an alliance. Those races are later revealed to be alien races that still around in one way or another and SG-1 actually meets three of them; the Nox, the Asgard, and the Altarans, who later go by Lanteans and eventually the Ancients. What if Perridia is where the Zeffo, the Nightsisters, the Bendu Sages, the Whills, met there, worshipped the Mortis Gods, and exchanged knowledge on the Force? It could explain why there's a Zeffo mural on a Nightsister Observatory temple and it could also explain why there are statues of the Mortis Gods on a mountainside.

The mother isn’t canon though, and I don’t think she will be anytime soon because the point of the Mortis gods is to represent the light, dark, and balance, and there’s not a fourth thing for a mother to be, I know in legends she’s like a mortal that becomes some crazy force being but that story isn’t canon and I don’t think it’s the direction Dave Filoni intended for those characters

Kylo Ren being the Son could be a tidy way to tie these new stories into the Sequels and a path to repairing Episode 9's relationship to the canon, and also literarily convenient that he's a significant "Son". It could also be worth considering Revan for the position, given that Filoni has been looking for ways to introduce him into the Canon, and if we're basing recovery of Anakin's presence in the Force as possible, not much reason Revan couldn't be either. Either way, this does sound like a satisfying path, but I think it's probably too far fetched for me to put faith in. But I do think Filoni ultimately wants to "Clone Wars" the sequels and repair their connection to the canon, the way he did with the prequels.

One of the best things the old republic games did was show that the dark side is just about letting emotions flow, good and bad. It's just that it can be a slippery slope for anger and hate. Dark side isn't necessarily evil, but you do need antagonists for storytelling. Yin and yang.

Honestly I think there's an argument for swapping the gender roles for the Mortis Gods. If they're simply more of representations of light, dark and the kiddle, then they can be any gender theoretically. Assuming that can be the case, I think Baylan might be the one to become the Daughter. He liked the "idea" of the Jedi order and seems to follow more like Dooku. Maybe since he's wanting to find "the beginning" he's wanting to become the TRUE embodinent of what the order was meant to be. I could then see Ahsoka becoming the father role, not fully falling to the dark side like Anakin, but seeing the flaws in the order and leading her to balance. As for the son, it would be interesting if Shin takes that role, but an even better twist would be Sabine falling to the dark side and becoming that. I could also see Sabine falling prey to the same fate as Abeloth. Feeling powerless among the fighting of these force users, Sabine bathes in the font of knowledge and becomes corrupted. Shin, Ahsoka and Baylan must team up and become the embodiments of The Mortis Gods in order to contain her. Regardless, we will be seeing the Mortis Gods (or at least their lore) return in season 2 for sure 👍

If Anakin can ascend as the Father after death, why can’t the favoured Son archetype Maul become the new Son? Maul literally parallels the Son’s arc and sympathetic-villainy. The Son is sympathetic because the Dark Side makes us miserable. It doesn’t bring happiness, it brings pain, because it’s a trap. The Son is tormented by his own actions and their consequences even while unable to resist giving in to that temptation. This is something George and Dave have discussed at length many times - how the Dark Side gives you immediate rewards but persistent suffering, because it’s inherently selfish and we don’t actually want or need that, we just think we do. What we need is love and compassion and community and support, and those arise from selflessness. So Maul was quite villainous, but we pity him, much as we pity the Son. I think there may be a new story incoming as Maul and Anakin and Ahsoka were never in the same place at the same time. As for Baylan, I don’t think he’s the Son - if anything, he’s more like the Father archetype, and if we’re not resurrecting the dead, he’d be the perfect new Father. Baylan’s imagery in Ahsoka Part 1 intentionally mirrors first Qui-Gon from the start of Episode I and then transitions to mirroring Vader’s hall sequence from Rogue One, and then to Luke rescuing the Princess from Episode IV as he frees Morgan. Baylan has shown both light and dark inside him, and has a similar sadness to him as the Father. He’s literally reflective of that role, and I think he’s just as possible as candidate for the Father as Anakin is. But if Baylan is the Father, then we can rule out Maul because we’re not resurrecting people. And Ezra’s gone home so he’s clearly not the Son. And I doubt they’d make Shin or Sabine the Son even if archetypically they might be able to go that route (as teased for Sabine’s darkness and as shown by Shin’s), since they’d be going for literal imagery of a Son character. Perhaps Ahsoka Parts 9-16 would thus introduce a new player to the mix on Peridiea and/or Mortis as we approach what looks to be the Altar of Mortis.

The Daughter isn't Ahsoka any more than Starkiller is the Son. All 3 are elements of Anakin. The light, dark, and his ability to control them within himself. The Father saying he is "dying" is foreshadowing that Anakin will soon (at the end of the clone wars) lose control of his light and dark sides. The son is growing stronger because the darkness in Anakin is as well. The Daughter "dying" first is because Anakin loses access to his light first. Her "life force" passing to Ahsoka after being corrupted by the Son is meant to show that the good that was in Anakin will live on in Ahsoka - which is sorta reinforced in the Ahsoka show - The "seeds of the darkside" planted by him don't win out. So the corruption of the Son isn't her destiny, the light of the Daughter is. You can even see the accidental killing of the Daughter to reflect how Anakin didn't set about trying to deliberately snuff out the light within him. The ending with Anakin killing the Son at the same time as the Father is to sort of rhyme with how he defeats his own darkness in the end by trying to save his son. The light, dark, and balance, are all a part of Anakin's journey. I don't think this means the beings called the ones aren't real, just that the events seen weren't literally happening as everyone keeps hoping. I know Legends took it as literal, but that's the weaker interpretation of the story in my opinion. Luke didn't literally kill a Vader in the cave on Dagobah. Cal didn't literally fight his master in the Tomb of Kujet. The force loves its real seeming visions. Also to an additional point, according to the Legends "Book of the Sith" (still a potential source of inspiration), Mother Talsen says nightsisters worship BOTH the Winged Goddess (The Gryphon like form of the Daughter), and the Fanged God (The bat like form of the Son). It even says the green ichor is pulled form the Daughter, and thus the making of zombies (resurrection) comes from the Winged Goddess.

Also were they really on Mortis? Assuming it was based on a "real" place, are we sure they traveled there? Or did perhaps a probe just sort of beam a vision into their head and they really were still just floating there in space for only a few moments. Not unlike some Star Trek episodes where similar things happen.

I agree with a lot of this, but overall that people take this stuff way too literally. I don't think we should be too concerned about who's going to take what position, like it's some kind of story mystery to solve. I think it's more important to look at why that story exists and what it's saying about the characters. I also feel that Mortis was more of a vision than a literal place, and that those characters were manifestations of the Force. And that the Father offering his place to Anakin was more about Anakin's choices than about the need for a figurehead. Although yes, seeing statues of them means others have perceived these beings in some way, it still tells me that they are ways of perceiving the Force shared by multiple cultures, not a team checklist that needs to be filled out.

I wonder why Morai lost their tail in the shift to live action (or at least for the Ahsoka series, since it looks like the tail is there in Mando S2)... I can understand real-world reasons, but not sure about in-universe reasons

This is all totally possible, but why do we even NEED a replacement for them? Does the force really need Gods to keep it in order? They were all real people at one point so I’m wondering if they were just sort of self appointed gods and the universe never really needed them. I think the Mother will come into play, whether it’s Abeloth or not, and will be tied to the nightsisters. Maybe Baylon’s quest will be to replace the father but will only result in releasing the Mother, Ahsoka and Sabine will have to stop whatever it is, and I’m not sure yet how shin plays I to it all. Still hoping that she comes around and will lead the nomads as Allies to ahsoka but I could see her going full dark side. Really hoping we get a season 2 for this and not just a quick resolution in another show/comic

I really enjoy seeing this tinfoil hat theorist side of you, Alex! Perhaps it comes with the fantasy territory of Ahsoka, since you always have great ideas and theories. But your theories for THIS show are just crazy and I'm loving it 🤣

“Ahsoka” was a great series. I am glad you seemed to enjoy it. Now go check out “Foundation”. The original Foundation trilogy began as a collection of short stories in the early 1940s. The final two novels were written in whole and completed in the early 1950s. The Foundation trilogy is where the roots of modern science fiction can be found, including “Dune” and especially “Star Wars.” Humaniform robots has positronic brains, just like Commander Data. I think you will be blown away by the parallels to the Star Wars Universe. The capital of the Galactic Empire is a planet-city near the galactic core. In the novels, people carry sidearms called blasters that fire energy bolts. Spaceships are powered by hyperdrives so they can travel through hyperspace across the galaxy.

Pretty sure the son believed Palpatine was too evil to be in his place, the son was the livign embodiment of the darkside not some pure evil Psychopath like Emperor Palpatine who is pretty much the most evil person to ever exist.

So I like the weirdness of the Force gods. But I don't like how it reinforces the idea that balance in the Force means a balance between the Dark and Light. I think Lucas has made it clear, and I like the idea better, that "balance" means the eradication of the Dark. That the Dark Side is like a cancer that left unchecked will destroy the body and it needs to be removed. Not that a healthy body needs a little cancer in order to be healthy.

Maybe Shin could replace the Son? Obviously she's a girl, but I doubt Force Godhood actually relies on our concepts of gender.

I still really dislike the Mortis gods contradicting that the Light Side conquering its own darkness is the balance of the force, not an actual equality between the two. I feel the father doesn’t work at all in Lucas or Canon lore whatsoever

We don't have real embodiment of the Son because there isn't one. I think he piggybacked in Anakin Skywalker leaving Mortis and was with him all the way up till Twilight of the Apprentice. That's the first time Anakin actually had positive emotions of hope when meeting Ahsoka, I firmly believe Vader wouldn't have been in a place to start questioning the emperor or hope for his son if not for the events of Rebels. The Son left Anakin and went into the body of the dead Inquisitor becoming Marrok which is why he had the same armor. Ahsoka finally defeats Marrok we see the essence of the Son leave the dead inquisitor, Shin is terrified of this revelation I don't even think she was aware he could be slain and the real reason he was is because it was only Ahsoka containing the spirit of the Daughter that could defeat him. At the end of Ahsokas series the Son is out wandering the home Galaxy or possibly in Shin dormant passively influencing her like he did Anakin, he was only able to fully posses a corpse (so far) and it explains Shins sudden need for conquest that Baylan didn't approve of.

So ashoka is the replacement for the daughter and anakin for the father, but the Brother….. I do not think that he has a replacement because I am not really sure that he is dead. I mean the daughter and father were killed with this „special sword“ and only this sword can kill them, but the Brother was killed with a lightsaber that means He is still alive…. (Just an opinion…)

I think the WBW is the Beyond Shadows in Legends and Abeloth has been calling to Palpatine (which is why he was obsessed with exploring the unknown regions and beyond with his Imperial Observatories) and Baylan. Abeloth’s wrath is what made witchcraft possible (a very caothic and corrupted way of the Force itself)… both Zeffo and Dathmiri suffered her chaos. The Mortist tesseract was a PRISON made by the father so he could keep his family from harming the will of the force. The Mother will he liberated, maybe even Shin will drink the Fountain of Power and bathe in the Fountain of Knowledge… Maybe both Shin and Baylan take a sip of both and become son and daughter… making Ahsoka the Father/Mother figure. In the end they will restore balance somehow but they will make Palpatine’s return possible.
