I did OK when I moved from UK to Hungary and needed a car. I went to the local GM dealer and bought a Chevrolet Spark that was just under 4 years old. It has proved to be the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned and I still have it, 11 years later. It does look pretty rough by now but is still quite solid with not too much rust

Congratulations, Paul. It's a great looking car and Happy Anniversary! You were wise to buy the car with cash and with the timing of the exchange rate advantage. I also am a big fan of Toyota quality. I hope I can afford whatever is the equivalent of a Rav4 hybrid or a Prius if we move there. It seems like new car prices there are inflated, even from US standards(!), but the $11,545 US you paid seems like a good price. Happy New year Paul and Baby Mae: I love your sense of humor about all the little nuances that happened while buying your car. I know your pain when it comes to dealerships. I had a specific thing in mind when I went out to buy my first brand-new vehicle. I even started telling the salespeople that if they even said the word "automatic" I would leave. I ended up exhausting over 100 dealerships in a 300 KM radius of the city I live in to find a dealership that didn't have SALESPEOPLE, they only had PURCHASING ASSISTANTS. The difference is that a salesperson says "Look at what we have on the lot" and the Purchasing assistant asks "What would you like in your vehicle?" Sadly because of health issues, I haven't driven in almost 15 years, but I'll never forget how vast the difference is between the two types of vehicle dealers. May you have many happy miles, and many happy memories with your new car. I hope that the new year brings you blessings that you can't even imagine right now.

Another great vlog Old Dog! I can see the rationale of having a scooter initially: affordable, easy to drive/park, and a real advantage if there's traffic. However, I've heard many stories about driving in PH.....its the wild west in a lot of cases and that comes with risks. You'll definitely be safer in a car and the protection from the elements will be a blessing when there's things to do on a rainy day. Looking forward to road trip adventures in 2023.
