Andy is such an unsung hero of Conan's late shows. Dude is so funny and a great complement to Conan.

Andy is an amazing comedian and improv. sooo many times he would just throw these supe throw away jokes that would pass under the radar that were pure gold. i also later on realized how "dirty" of a joker he was and it kinda blew me away coz he's always super clean on tv but man when he gets to the dirty jokes he's unbeatable!

Yeah, he was a huge part of those early year skits and tomfoolery. I was both upset and excited when he left to do his own shows. Too bad he never took off on his own, but he is a perfect sidekick. He knows when to stay silent, and when to come in with a quick one liner, without ruining the flow of the conversation.

Andy is a great sidekick that's for sure. I wish they had given him more remotes on the TBS show. He was so great in the late night remotes. Alone and with Conan. Andy's podcast is awesome too!

Andy's quips were, I think, among the funniest moments on the show. Conan has an amazingly quick and fertile comedic mind, so his sidekick didn't need to be "on" all the time, but whenever Andy spoke up, what he had to say was well worth hearing.

Speaking of Andy in "ridiculous costumes," my mom isn't a big fan of Conan. She doesn't dislike him, and didn't prevent me from watching him when I was a kid, just not her cup of tea. But I showed her the bit Andy and Conan did when they went to Mexico City, where they both trained as wrestlers, and Andy in the "El Bebe Malo" costume had her literally in tears with laughter. Even still, later, when she tried to explain to my dad what she had been laughing at, she couldn't get through the words because she'd start laughing again.

What a crazy time in TV that was. Nowadays it would be impossible for Conan to get a Late Night spot as a simple writer, not even a performer. And for Andy to get a sidekick gig simply by hanging around on set. But totally deserved for both of them. A perfect storm to say.
@billyeveryteen7328
@billyeveryteen7328 11 ай бұрын
To be fair, it was considered impossible back then, too. The only reason Conan got Late Night is because Lorne Michaels saw something in him that I don't even think Conan saw in himself.

I did most of my Conan watching in his earliest years mainly because I was watching a lot more TV back then, but I really liked Conan and Andy from day one. I was a big Dave fan, but had no need for sour grapes because he got his CBS show. After Dave I would switch to NBC and was amazed that they had found these guys. I enjoyed Conan’s way with humor, which was more about painting a funny scenario than telling a joke. I thought Andy was underrated from day one as well. It makes me happy that they were so successful.

Bro Mort is too hilarious he should have his own talk show and he was genuinely the BEST sidekick for Conan I mean Mort and Conan were like the 2 best friends in high school who always hung out with each other instead of trying to be popular with other people. I mean I have known Mort my whole life he is so hilarious he obviously has great comedic skills along with timing as a pro comedian I mean he makes stupid comedians look like amateurs which makes me laugh 😂 like if Mort had his own podcast that would totally be nice he totally deserves his own podcast his voice is very calm and he obviously has solid mannerisms of a solid podcaster and a solid talk show host like Mort ok? Mort I mean HE TOTALLY MAKES ME LAUGH OUT LOUD SO LOUDLY I MEAN MORT IS TOO HILARIOUS BRO 😆

Wow I never thought of it like this, and couldn’t agree more! Grew up sneaking episodes of the show when everyone was sleeping and love Conan & Andy content to this day- just saw Jim Gaffigan live last year finally! But having had a very traumatic childhood, I bet this is where the ability to laugh through life was created and strengthened over the years. Wow. Conan & Andy helped me get through so much, and be able to laugh at the ridiculous/ have a healthy perspective now like you said. We’re very lucky they had the opportunity to reach such a large audience, so well deserved! 💜
