Beautiful interview and life’s history 🙌🏼

The best traditional Hollywood can do when it comes to inspiring movies about women doing amazing things is a comic book heroine and a plastic doll. Meanwhile, this little faith-based studio makes a movie about an actual woman from history who focused on bettering the world for the powerless, and who overcame obstacles to do it, later gaining the respect and admiration of the system she devoted herself to and drew strength from. I may be an atheist, but I know which viewpoint is the more valuable and inspiring. Keep your plastic dolls and comic book trash. There are thousands of real human beings who benefited from Cabrini's work and the work of the people around her. I've known about Mother Cabrini my whole life, and it's long past time the rest of the world learned about her.

Her story is only relevant to people in the Phila. area because of the college that was named after her. The college has merged with Villanova U.

@@yvonneplant9434 That's like saying that "Schindler's List" is only relevant to German Jews or "Gandhi" is only relevant to Hindus and Indians. A good story about someone inspirational is relevant to anyone in search of inspiration.

Excellent interview! We saw the film yesterday ( husband and I), wow! Great cinematography and it gave me the opportunity to learn and get inspiration from St Cabrini. Today, listening to the interview I was again inspired by Mr Wolfington, on how a man his age continues with the enthusiasm to create great things. I am Catholic, and one thing that caught my attention in the movie was that not once we saw Mother Cabrini praying or her sisters. Was not she a woman of prayer? Thank you

An outstanding secular interview. But, the Elephant in the room. Imagine a movie about Hitler who received two medals for bravery in WWI. He was even Times ‘Man of the Year’ in 1938. Imagine the movie only pointing out that which made him Times choice. Imagine the person who never heard of Hitler watching a movie about him. We can only hope people pick up a book to fill in the blanks. I saw Cabrini opening day. Did not read or listen to any reviews prior. My thoughts, when it was over, is of a tenacious feminist emasculating men while doing great things. Nothing about her devotion to the Sacred Heart. Could not a FEW seconds of a Devine moment be peppered throughout the movie that gives honor to her devotion to Jesus and His guidance throughout her mission. SHE IS A CATHOLIC SAINT!!! You don’t become a saint by being a tenacious feminist emasculating men. The men were portrayed as weak, mean, disinterested in her cause. Pope Leo XIII, one of our great popes, faired a little better. In all things give Glory to God. She did, this movie did not. Then, the opening on International Women Day. Her last comment in the movie is what the feminist say. Maybe here is where they could have captured how the Devine worked in her life to be a tenacious women in a man’s world. Well, the movie did do a great job in all ‘Cabrini’ did. Little girls will think it’s OK to be tenacious towards men/authority for their cause whatever it may be (as though we don’t have enough of that already in a Godless society). Read some, a lot!, of the comment on any of the Cabrini social sites. Women power!! This movie should receive an Oscar(s) for its superb cinematography and acting. I’ll give it that. But, let’s not merge the beauty of the film and attach it to what was woefully lacking. “I will go anywhere and do anything in order to communicate the love of Jesus to those who do not know Him or have forgotten Him.” Mother Cabrini

I am not a catholic. I am a christian, the film spoke volumes to me. I did go further into her history because of the film. I brought my 12 year old niece and sister (that isn't into religious content) and both found it powerfully moves, it brought up a lot of deeply spiritual conversations, I could see the wheels turning. My brother and his wife als went after their daughter came home and talked about Cabrini. . HONESTLY, If this film was overtly Catholic I don't see any of them coming with me to this film. It doesn't void God or her central motivation. Cabrini is shown as living her life as the hands and feet of Jesus. She states to her nuns they can do all things through HIM. It's implied even if she is not kneeling in prayer or holding a rosery the entire film. The Holy Spirit has a way of working outside of our understading. This is one reason God is affectionately called Jehovah sneaky by some... He uses the foolish things to confound the wise. It is no different than the time he told the apostles to feed a multitude with nothing but a few loaves of bread. It became more than enough, they had plenty left over. I wouldn't be to harsh on how little spark, within it contains the power to start a forest fire. The Holy Spritit knows which hearts are prepared to burn bright... We are blessed with the opertunity to partner with Him in prayer that it does. God is working.

As a non Catholic I appreciate your review and I’ll take your word for it that it moved you and especially yours, spiritually. I especially LOVE your last paragraph. Beautifully put. Christian movies have more spirituality in it than ‘Cabrini’. Mother Cabrini is a Catholic SAINT. She HONORED (not worshiped) all things Catholic: the Rosary, the Eucharist which IS THE BODY, BLOOD, SOUL and Divinity of Our LORD JESUS CHRIST and statues of Saints, etc. THAT IS WHO SHE WAS!!! EVERYTHING Protestants depict Catholics as pagans. To me this movie depicted her as a tenacious women emasculating men. The priest eating spaghetti as he walked the street to greet her. What was that! It went down hill from there. Pope Leo XIII, one of our great popes, faired a little better. I’m not saying all that she did should have been in this movie but, SOMETHING of the Devine. Again, Christian movies depict more divinity than this movie did. The quotes you shared that Cabrini said in the movie are quotes all Christians say. I guess I should be happy they put that much in. Executive producer Eustace Wolfington was looking for a strong women and he got one who “just happened to be a nun” Just happened to be a nun!!!!! She’s a SAINT, in the Catholic Church and because of the graces bestowed upon her from our Creator she was able to do the great things she did worldwide starting with nothing. In all things give glory to God. She did. This movie didn’t. I’m going to calm down now and repeat your last paragraph as it is the only thing helping me … TO CALM DOWN. Thank you❤️

I too was struck by the strange omission in a haigiography of prayer. The film shows her praying only once -- when she leads a hurried prayer before a meal. Surely her spiritual life was much more than the film shows. That said, in my opinion the message of determination in the face of opposition, whether from ethnic prejudice or sexism, was welcome. The film shows her arguing with a lot of men, to be sure -- because men were the ones who pulled the strings then. You shouldn't take it personally.

It is without question that in order to appeal to a greater audience a great many things that made her strong we’re left out. Instead, and very indirectly, the movie showed her strength flowing from her life experiences… Which as with all of us that plays a role, but they left out a very specific devotion to Jesus Christ. Not a “ personal Lord and Savior“ message, a very distinct and particular devotion through particular intermediaries and traditions were ignored, or perhaps audience were simply expected to fill in that gap. The overlying message however was true and pure, and that is one culture constantly wanting to protect it’s so-called, and often wrongfully, purity at the cost of another. Any Christian from any denomination, must except this fact and the fact that that instinct is not of God but instead of Satan. In any nation for any reason. As far as that goes I can think of at least 10 to 15 states in the United States were the popular should be forced to watch this movie 24 seven until they get it once and for all.,

At a time where Christianity has become a great threat to democracy and freedom of choice this movie is food for the impressionable minds.

Kind of a paranoid comment. Don’t you have space in your mind for any kind of nuance? Christianity is not an enemy to freedom or democracy, many times it’s what enables it. This movie isn’t “food for impressionable minds” (to do what exactly? Serve the poor?). It’s a movie about a real woman who did great things for love against setback after setback. How could you miss that beautiful thing and focus on something so contrived like a political agenda? Sad life bruh. I hope you lighten up ✌🏽
