Some people come into money and conveniently forget that they owe others money. My sister in law owed us over a grand and when she got a blessing she started flexing on social media and when she got called out on it she claimed she spent it all. We were never given a dime. Shameful when situations like these have to come to litigation but it’s the only way some people will learn 😢

@@teeshadixon2232he explained at the beginning that he spent his savings doing up their Mum's house so that when she sold it she got a good price. That is why they have that estate to begin with. They only lived together for a relatively short time, so although he was dating their Mum a long time he wasn't there 24/7 like a step father. It seems the Mum kept things separate until her youngest reached 18 and then decided it was her time now and sold her home to live with him. He carried on paying the daughters living expenses until he could no longer afford it financially, people his age don't have many years left in work to pay off debts like that. The estate is what is meant to pay for your funeral, unless you have a separate policy.

@@luv4ever101 I picked up on that too- her money but if he was really that bad, why did she stick around him all that time? There are usually 3 sides to every story- his, the mothers and the daughters. They all seem like mostly decent people but these two both seem cheap. Daughter was trying to freeload- sorry. She is not his daughter- he does not owe her anything technically. No- he is not a generous type but that is not a crime which is why the judge had to technically side with him- even if she did not like him. He is not very likeable but she also needs to grow up and pay her own way in life. Over the years I am sure he paid for a lot of her stuff. In 15 years he only wants costs for a funeral that she promised at the time to pay for...and she is sitting on $50k. I am more on his side- sorry. You probably relate more to her. Do you have people pay for you- is that what love means to you? Learn to pay your own way- over time, he will get tired of it, trust me. It never ends well. I love these types of cases. I always take them as an educational practice for myself and others. Let's really take a second to think things through. I saw a lot of comments about the girls being selfish or that the plaintiff (fiancee) was in the wrong to sue the girls. What we need to focus on is that the deceased and the plaintiff were together for 15 years engaged for 3 years. BUT NOT MARRIED! This was the biggest issue. The plaintiff probably already took financial hits due to his partner being on dialysis and unable to work. Yes there is an estate but it was never clarified to the young girls what it should be used for. They think it should be used to start their life. I actually can see how they think that since in movies and TV shows that's how it is viewed, however the debt that the deceased does incur the estate should pay for. This is why conversations, paperwork etc need to be in place at all times. The girls should have been aware prior too what happens if anything were to happen to her mom. You really never know when it's your time. We can say it's a moral right but he may have kids of his own and bills for them. If we play house, these types of things will happen. I don't care if you have $1000k in the bank. A simple conversation with your kids and proper paperwork will help your loved ones deal with expenses and drama that may incur.

Imagine how hard it was for him to have to sue the daughters of his fiancé. Surely, he cared about not only their mother but also them, considering he let the younger daughter live with him for free. Every time I have paid for a funeral for a family menber, it took years to get them to pay back their portion of the cost. I usually get critizism the funeral was "too cheap", not enough flowers, I did not rent a limo for the family. None of the dead persons friends showed up because "the funeral was out of their way". I was told to NOT handle the funeral arrangement by several family menbers who did not like the way I did it. When those people died, I had to arrange for the funeral and pay for their burial. Young generations feel they are entitled. This is why it is so important to have insurance plus a WILL or Trust So sad for these young ladies. The information about her mother's demise was heartbreaking but could happen to any of us. Blood thinners are not always good. If you get insurance or inherited money at least pay the funeral expenses. many families get duped thinking there is insurance or savings or cash. The mother probably didn't think her boyfriend would have to help with expenses. so many things can happen to insurance money. People really should educate themselves on executors of their assets If a family can't pay for a funeral the state will pay. Social security pays a stipen. Why did it take so long for the mother and. Boy friend to plan to get married. it does seem strange the mother passed after she sold her home.

I have had to pay funeral expenses for many relatives who had insurance but not enough. Family members do not help or pay back so always get a contract or promissory note and have it notarized. The funeral directors are notary republics. Cremation is also expensive. I am not having a funeral just a grave side brief service. Too much drama and expenses for the family. I just have a realistic approach to death. These young ladies were hit with an unexpected bolder. The plantif knew every detail about the death and the daughters said very little. Strange. They were both old enough not to live with their mother and should have gone with the grandparents. 19 years the plantif was in the life of the defendant's mother then when they decided to live together the mother dies. I believe the defendant. They could have had a funeral for the exact amount of insurance, or less. The embalming and casket and burial site are the most expensive. It is all the extras that cost. Now there are laws that protect families so funeral directors can't charge outrageous prices the average BASIC funeral is$10,000.00 AND THAT IS NO EXTRA FRILLS. FAMILY AND RELATIVES COME TO SEE WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO GET. I DARE SAY THE PLANTIF HAD HIS OWN POLICY AND PROBABLY HAS ONE ON EACH GIRL. WAS HE THEIR FATHER I do believe he harassed the defendant, but he didn't have to volunteer to pay expenses they could have had a basic funeral. I dare say the mother felt she had adequate coverage and wanted her daughters to have something. She may have also felt the daughters would help the grandmother Love dies quickly when money is involved and family can be leeches. Writing from experience
