This is so helpful! Especially the licks in between the riffs, the tabs I was using before made those parts way too difficult

Your video is a few videos down on the search results for this cover/lesson, had to cringe at about 3 cover attempts, clicking the back button on the intro arps each time as they sounded so off. Really nice work figuring out the key to it was the tuning. Great video.

Yeah that BOSS video is where I realised that the G# was actually an A. I've only come here to confirm my suspicions. I've been playing it slightly differently though, where you have been playing the open 0's on the 5th string for "Lick 1" and "Lick 2", I've been playing them as 12 on the bottom. I played them open at first but found I could play it better on the bottom string. And for "Lick 3" I play 10 on the 4th instead of 15 on the 5th, that way my hand doesn't need to move as I'm covering the 10-14 with one shape. And I'm sure he uses this tuning for other songs. I'm currently trying to learn "From The Wilderness" and the reverbed intro sounds like the 2nd is tuned to A. Unfortunately there are no live videos of that song, no studio clips and the tab online is beyond terrible.

From the wilderness is criminally underrated

just curious which gauche strings are you using for that tuning? I just saw on the cover and was impressed on the return on the attack of the 6th string, anyways kick ass cover and nice findings mate.
@nihilist922 жыл бұрын
Thank you! As a matter of fact I wouldn’t say my strings were heavy enough for this, at least on the low 6th anyways. I’m using a 12-60 here and just about got away with it but I would a actually suggest going heavier on the low F# 100%

awesome work mate! can you please do Doomsday too? thanks

The way you play it sounds a lot better than the tabs im using, but slightly more challenging. Are there tabs for the entire song the way you play it in your playthrough video?
@nihilist92 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not as i rarely ever use tabs and don’t really have the smarts and patience to tab the whole thing. I learned this all by ear myself which I believe to be the best tool we all have when it comes to learning songs etc.

Are you sure it's F# and not G#?

I could swear he didn't start using the low F# until Abandon

@@adamkahn8645 Yup - quite sure. Try it for yourself and see! There are G# songs on this album as well though - Devil is Near etc.
