I think that’s a spot on breakdown of what family practitioners and clinicians go through. That is a side that we as patients don’t think about. All typical humans do is think I don’t feel well, fix me, but don’t make me work for it because that’s not in my egocentric wheelhouse today. That makes so much sense when you see so many doctors that have just checked out. They start out giving their hearts and souls to healing and all they get in return is crappy patient attitudes which would eventually crush anyone’s spirit. Thank you for giving us this perspective to think about and hopefully make us better and more appreciative patients!!

I like that you are in tune with your skill set. I agree that the pill, easy fix , is what most want. I’m into less meds and more lifestyle changes myself.

Great insight. I feel like a lot of people go into medicine not really analyzing beforehand whether their skill set would work for such a career. It takes a specific type of person to dedicate nearly every waking moment and sacrifice their own health for the health of others.

You seem more analytical and serious and would make a great teacher of pathology. The biggest similarity I can make between Primary care family medicine and Forensic pathology is, you gotta wanna do it. You may be capable, but if you stick yourself in something that's not something you care for, you're asking for early burnout
