How bad has James Harden actually been in the playoffs? A narrative has built around him being a playoff choker but when you look back at all 13 appearances you can see the big picture. This is a detailed look at The Beard in the postseason.

Absolutely. Playoff games are much higher intensity and more defense focused. That's where the value of 2 way players really shows. Guys like PG and Kawhi made a name for themselves in the playoffs guarding LBJ. Same as Jimmy back when he was in Chicago. In regular season when teams are not trying as hard defensively, that's where the talented stars shine. In the playoffs, you need to have the mentality .

See the crazy part about this statement is that Jimmy Has MORE games where he played bad in the postseason but Yall seem to forget about that cause his 2020 finals run. For example… in 2021 Jimmy got swept and put up HORRENDOUS NUMBERS , if harden put up them numbers the media would never let him hear the end of it. So Can people plz stop tryna push this agenda that jimmy butler is this postseason god

I think James Harden actually is the same player in the playoffs but that itself is the problem. A lot of NBA players coast through the regular season so when the playoffs come, they can turn it up to 10. James Harden just thinks there’s nothing he can do when teams turn up the defense so instead of attacking the challenge he gives up and says he got out played when really he just wasn’t trying.

James Harden is a very talented scorer that many defenders watch how he plays and plans ahead for him. The thing is, Harden's game is so linear. He just do the same thing over and over again, so defenders are prepared. AND the refs do a good thing in the playoffs to just limit the whistles. They want the players to play and not affect the game by the officiating too much and we all know that Harden's points are made on the foul line. PLUS, Harden just quits of he doesn't get his way. WAAAAAY too diva even for this era that is labeled "soft"

@@deonnelson9780 with harden its extra predictable though. Teams had 0 worry about him offball/never had to worry about contesting a midrange pullup. The moves that he can easily do in the regular season just don’t work in the playoffs. The pace is faster. Defense is more intense and you have to be able to make adjustments on the fly. He gets gassed really fast and when he’s tired he starts making unforced mistakes. He has to focus on conditioning this summer. No way around that.

It's like when the other players play their best and defenses game plan against him with their best players he just can't get off uncontested 3s and the touch fouls aren't called the same. It's almost like when players/teams play harder because it's the playoffs Harden can't seem to play at the same level he can in the regular season when players/teams don't play at such a high level. I hope the sarcasm wasn't to thick. Some players rise up to meet and surpass the challenge they face and others don't. But those who can't stop trying to play hero ball no matter how many shots they brick end up being to problem their team cannot overcome. Harden and Westbrook have done this more than anyone else in the past few years.

The biggest Problem is that Hardens style of play is a double edged sword He isos so much and spends so much time and energy dribbling the ball And Exerting extra energy To either Jump and create separation and shoot or Drive And Take contact Over the course of a season It’s going to wear u out especially as he doesn’t keep his body in peak physical shape and is partying a lot So in the playoffs opponents will either just let him wear himself out and shut down his teammates or Force him to give up the ball Plus his lack of off ball game is really not a good way to age Into his mid 30s I think the reason why Him and Paul worked so well in 2018 is because he didn’t iso as much and was actually way more efficient and he went further than he ever did and since in the playoffs

Harden has been horrible in Elimination games for years. No one talks about how in 2016 he got eliminated by warriors without STEPH. Klay and Dray outperformed him massively. In 2017 he was Eliminated by Spurs where kawhi got injured and old man Ginobli in his last year got a bucket and a block on harden to end the series. Hs not good enough to be the best player in his team. Second option at most. Prime Klay is more Valuable in playoffs especially when he’s an elite defender

One thing that was completely left out is that on the majority of those teams he was “the guy”. and because of that teams would have an entire plan around just him. they would attack him on defense both because it would wear him down and because he was a negative on defense, and they would double and sometimes even triple team him. now i don’t know anyone other than steph curry and james harden in recent history that have been TRIPLE teamed. plus the second time they lost to the warriors was the season that refs hated him bc they didn’t know how to call fouls on his stepback so klay thompson and draymond green were literally fouling him on every 3 pointer he shot bc they could get away with it. so that was rigged from the start against them

Game 6 vs the Spurs is one of the worst playoff performances in a elimination game ever. It literally looked like he had quit on the season.

Can you imagine if the sixers would have accepted the Pistons offer for Ben Simmons they would still have Seth they would have Sadiq Bay Jeremy Grant so we still have Andre Drummond and I'm pretty sure they would have had the fifth overall pick in this year's draft

I hope you see this AM. James Harden did it again, played like shit in a game 7, against Celtics (2023 semis) Went 3/11 for 9 points, he can’t perform well when it matters the most, you gotta make an update to this video 👋

Hindsight is 20/20. I like coming back to these videos just to see how bad James Harden has become here in the present 2023. The dude keeps switching teams, hes a spoiled has-been that nobody wants. He no longer has the pull because he no longer plays at a high level especially at the playoffs. Just when it couldnt get worse, it got that much worse and Embiid wasnt much better. The Sixers must be cursed or something. Maybe its just Harden and Embiid, they have amazing regular seasons but fails to show up in the post-seasons.

6:24 Houston against KD's warriors? Seriously bruh? Even Ty Lue admitted that they'd rather have KD take a shot than Curry
@3rdCoastAlliance
@3rdCoastAlliance 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, KD's Warriors...they deferred to KD quite a bit, and Steve Kerr said that KD was the most gifted player of all time. Curry and Klay are the heart and soul of that team, but from 2016-2019 they were burnt out from playing at such a high level...I believe this was a significant motivator towards getting KD.

IMO James Harden while in theory has super star talent he is at best a ball dominating 6th man bench spark type guy. The way he plays “dribble, dribble, dribble” screws up team mates rhythm and giving up the ball last second doesn’t allow them to get going - so puts all the pressure on them. Jordan Clarkson, Jamal Crawford, Lou Williams might not dribble dribble dribble but they do tend to hog the ball and look for themselves to score first every time like Harden. But additionally, has Harden ever been in game shape maybe after his stint with the Thunder. For a top tier athlete he looks very chubby (being nice) and like older Wade using a beard to somewhat hide it.
