How bad is NO INVINCIBILITY in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?

how important is the invincibility stat? this determines how many invincibility frames (iframes) you have after getting hit by an item or hazard.
nintendo buffed the invincibility stat of some characters and parts in wave 6 of the dlc booster course pass, and also updated the system to buff the importance of invincibility!

Peachette is the result of Toadette using the Super Crown power-up from New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. It’s similar to the Squirrel Suit in that it lets you glide and can perform an aerial boost, effectively having a double-jump. The Super Crown is actually objectively better than the Squirrel Suit due to Peachette’s glide falling slower than the Squirrel Suit, as well as automatically jumping if you’d fall/hit lava if you still have your jump. So yeah, she’s pretty cool.

Bowsette would be the name for Toadette transforming into Bowser. The name for this fanmade character Bowsette should be Peachser or something like that (which was eventually created as male Bowsette I think)...

The names make a lot more sense in Japanese. Toad is Kinopio, and Toadette is Kinopiko. "Ko" is a common feminine name ending similar to "ette" so it's a pretty good localization. When Kinopiko gets the Super Crown, she becomes Kinopichi (Kinopeach). Rather than trying to approximate this with something like "Toapeach," they just went with "Peachette." It's a much cuter name, but it isn't very obvious that it's derived from Toadette's name.

Adding a new stat was a step in the right direction, but the execution of invincibility probably wasn’t good. I think a better option would be a recovery stat. The lower this stat, the more stun you get when hit by an item. For example, if you get hit by a blue shell with the lowest recovery stat, you would be stunned for a little longer than usual, let’s say 0.5 seconds longer. It would be a small difference like that which would impact the game further, as getting hit once with low recovery would risk you losing several placings.

Sure thing! I've never cared much about the weight stat but one thing to note is that the heavier combos are more difficult to control for other reasons (acceleration, handling). so getting bumped out of your line can be worse even if you don't go as far.

For regional players, s matter when you get stuck in a lobby full of spammy low VR players right after school gets out. I've gotten decent with Wario/badwagon/slicks thanks to playing at that time of day. (Or a high VR lobby late on a weekend night, when everybody has their red eyed Miis out. Same vibe, but with hilariously calculated Pyrhhic snipes instead of spamming.)

That’s just why I don’t play online in general. Why bother having other people give you a hard time when you can just do it yourself. Or if you’re just bored, start up an offline VS Race. Yo, I just got Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for myself 2 weeks ago, and I have known for a very long time that putside drift is prefered for a ton of people. But I expirimented with both drifts and have realised I love Inside Drift way more. So I watched all your indide drift videos and in my opinion, you don't have enough inside drift videos 💀. I am currently a big fan of Green Yoshi on Yoshi Bike, but sometimes do use red yoshi on the comet.

Ah, my old combo until the balance changes happened. I like how you pointed out the moments where you did get hit and showing comparisons of I-frame stats. Most of my meta combos have okay I-frame stats while still being viable. They don’t REALLY matter in a lot of cases unless you’re in a competitive team game where you can tank a few consecutive items to edge out slightly. 12:00 That’s a photo finish right there.

Invincibility is pretty strong on low vr rooms. People usually play way more aggressive, and throw all items whenever they could. Yoshi teddybuggy got 4 combo twice in a day

7:20 In the lore, Peachette is a Toadette power-up (Super Crown) that has some floating mechanic, like Peach. They went all-in and gave the Peach appearance. Therefore Peachette, constructed as Peach + Toadette, meaning Toadette looking like Peach. But Nintendo seems to not have understood that -ette isn't exclusive to Toadette, but is a French diminuting ending largely used in English that is similar to -ita in Spanish. It means "smaller or younger, usually for female (-ot is the male variant in French, -ito in Spanish)". There is a dissonance. Instead of conveying "Toadette enjoying Peach powers", it conveys "(Female) Child/Teen Peach". Thus the Bowserette meme, being "Female Teen Bowser".

For reference: Peachette was created as an easy mode powerup for Mario bros u deluxe, and is in abundance when playing as Toadette who is the only character to use it. It was rumoured Nintendo didn't want to make a new plot for the switch remake and so turned Toadette into peach instead of putting peach into the game as a playable character. the Royal Crown in the game where Peachette first came from, it's a power up you get as Toadette that turns her into a Peach-like gameplay character with some characteristics of Toadette still there. The Royal Crown is literally a "Toadette exclusive" power up no other character has gotten in the series canonically thus far

watching this gave me an idea for how to make the invincibility stat better when you get hit, you can't do anything for a certain amount of time. What if the invincibility stat reduced that time by 1 frame per invincibility, so 1 invincibility would reduce it by less than a twentieth of a second, and 20 invincibility would reduce it by an entire third of a second! That'd also technically be a buff for every combo, because the minimum invincibility stat is 1

I mean an easy way is to add "cc resistance" as a stat. It does what "invincibility" tries to do but better. Imagine the worst cart gives you 0.65 of the normal spinout duration. That's like 0-0.5 seconds saved which can make all the difference.
