I’ve noticed that too, and I think it mostly has to do with presentation. Stephen Colbert is pretty much the gold standard for the contemporary political monologue, and by standing up and frequently breaking the fourth wall, he can connect with his audience more. one of the most interesting parts of Covid was watching the response from the various late night tv hosts. trevor noah got it right away, his show sort of adopted a punched up youtube video style. colbert is amazing with an audience but did his best and still put together a decent show. but my favorite was watching the closer looks, with the thorn birds books piling up in the background. I'll really miss the return to the stage but without the audience, and just hearing what jokes went well with the crew. I'm glad they didn't just go back to pre-Covid standards and regulations, and kept a bit of the intimacy it shared with its audience during Covid. late night became a better show for it.

CORRECTION: Koalas don't live in the outback, they live in eucalypt forests and woodlands in eastern Australia (and on some islands off the southern and eastern coasts) where there is fertile soil and adequate rainfall. Unfortunately koalas have lost 80% of their habitat, but you can check out the Australian Koala Foundation to learn about ways to help.

@@Enyavar1 the thing is, it doesn't really make sense. the phonetic intricacies, like e.g. t-flapping [madder instead of matter] is more american than anything. and the spectrum of the a and o vowels is very unique. maybe, it somehow did help your friend with BE, but I assume this is rather rare. :)
