I've had similar thoughts, but then what we need to do in the thought process is boil it down to its fundamentals. How much would it cost, how long to build etc etc....and you compare that to a process of negotiating with another country I come to two end thoughts. Either Trump never had the intention to the build the wall and would just fake nagging/negotiating with Mexico for two terms - not unheard of in politics to look like you're trying to do what you promised....OR my other thought was simple, look at America's 1%, they can all look under the couch, find nothing money, be taxed once and once only for a wall build and they wouldn;t feel the slightest pinch in their wallets....but that's not what is happening which brings me back to the fake negotiations. We all know mexico will not pay, so, he's faking it...for possibly 8 years to come. Alternatively....300 million pay only 26.6 dollars each over a period of four years - there is your wall.

Someone with dementia. My grandma had it and her downfall is similar to Trump right now. When he first ran for President in 1999, he spoke alot more clearly and he was at least principled. He still was terrible, but he wasn't so racist. He ran for the reform party nomination, and when David Duke and other White nationalists joined he left the race in protest despite being in the lead. Fast forward to 2016, David Duke is endorsing him and all Trump has to say is "I have no idea who David Duke is or about white nationalism". Which could mean either one of two things, one: he did actually know, but was hesitant to condemn because white nationalists are a big part of his voter base or two: he honestly didn't know and had simply forgotten because he's suffering from dementia so his mental capacity has deteriorated. He's increasingly unable to talk normally, which is just like my Grandma, and he's getting increasingly paranoid. So it could be a combination of the two, but I think the reason he's so unhinged is because he's in the early stages of dementia, because if he was purposefully ignorant I doubt he would fuck up so hard consistently since he first announced his candidacy. Past Presidents did have mental diseases when in office, the main one I can think of was Reagan who suffered from Alzeihmers, a form of Dementia. His staff talked about how difficult it was to communicate concepts to him and having to use toy soldiers to explain things to him. While it's unclear how early this was (you could see him looking a little confused in the 1984 debates), it probably did affect his presidency especially as Bush Sr began taking over more responsibilities. Still, he was at least able to put on a public persona and talk normally, certainly better than Trump could in 1999.

People who are unaware/misled on the subject of immigration/refugees ask "Why don't immigrants come here legally or stay here if they know they are illegal?," "If they are here why don't they apply for citizenship to stay?," "Why should we keep them here if they are taking jobs away from Americans?," and "Why should we care about immigrants/refugees if they don't benefit the country/me personally?" Well I have a few answers/explanations. Many Americans don't realize how hard applying for/earning legal status takes. Much like achieving refugee status/vetting to seek asylum (which can take up to 2 years), getting legal immigration status can take 1-3 years no matter where you come from. If you have a relative who is an American/some1 sponsoring you then you can save time, but most immigrants/refugees don't. Whether you are an immigrant, refugee, or asylum seeker, no 1 from any country can get on a plane and become a citizen overnight regardless of what conservatives/isolationists claim. According to the Constitution, only citizens can vote in our elections (not immigrants/refugees), and if you vote illegally you go to jail. And I found that the best case scenario for some1 to legally earn U.S. citizenship takes at the minimum 6 years (seriously, try planning a family vacation 6 years in advance and hope that no 1 dies/is born or something affects your plans). If some1 wants to come to the U.S. legally for work/an education and they are willing to put in the time (several years)/money (tens of thousands of dollars) to do so we have no right to deport them (regardless of their race, religion, origins, or native language) since this is the idea of the American dream. Despite President Trump's travel bans (which have all failed in the courts), it's unconstitutional to ban people based on national origin without valid reasons. When people are trying to escape civil war, crimes, or poverty and seek shelter in the U.S. sometimes their only option is to take the risk and come illegally then seek citizenship once they are here. Now I will admit that any1 coming into the country illegally is committing a crime, but if we made it easier/faster to come in legally then we would have fewer illegal immigrants in America. And studies have shown that immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers commit fewer crimes as a % of their population than native-born citizens (because they know they would receive harsher sentences/be deported if convicted). By law, businesses/corporations aren't supposed to hire illegal immigrants (and sometimes refugees/asylum seekers) and instead report them to be deported, but they often don't. They hire illegal immigrants/refugees, because they can be paid less than the U.S. minimum wage/not be guaranteed benefits. That said, illegal immigrants/refugees who have jobs do pay taxes which benefits our economy, but unless they become legal citizens, most never receive government-funded benefits like social security, food stamps, and Medicare/Medicaid (and those who do have to live/work in the U.S. for 5 years 1st). Whenever some1 claims illegal immigrants are taking away jobs from Americans, this is only part right. Many don't have the equivalent of a high school education so they often take jobs as farmers, construction workers, maids, gardeners, janitors, and restaurant workers, which are jobs many Americans don't typically want. And many manufacturing/coal mining jobs were lost due to automation/outsourcing, while legal immigrants tend to have college educations/the capability to start business and create jobs in the U.S. Finally, many people who come here illegally or seek refugee/asylum status don't tend to stay for more than a few years (some do but not the majority), and they work to earn money to send back to their families or seek safe heaven until they can return home. When they do get a job, they are jobs that many of us don't want, but if a boss hired an illegal immigrant/refugee over an American, why aren't you mad at the person who didn't hire you because you would be paid more? President Trump's border wall (as The Young Turks have pointed out) won't keep immigrants/refugees out, and make keeping them in easier. Nowadays the fastest growing groups of immigrants are Latin Americans (the 7 countries south of Mexico) and East Asians (Chinese, Japanese, Filipinos, and Indians), while more Mexican immigrants are returning home in recent years. And without cheap immigrant/overseas labor, the prices of everyday goods would go up since they will cost more to make here by American workers. Overall we do have an illegal immigration/refugee problem, but there are solutions we can take to solve the problem asides from deporting them all. And despite the negative rhetoric by some, America benefits more from immigrants/refugees than we are hurt by them. If you read all of this, thank you and share your thoughts/opinions.

You've pointed out the exact promplems with that ideology that immigrants are bad for the economy and whatnot But the problem is majority of Trump supporters are under-educated and don't understand the system itself And the ones that do, such as the rich Trump support just want to take advantage of the ignorant supports and Trump to get their agendas done (Republican trying to alleviate the riches' and their own problem, like tax cut with the health care repeal and replace)

And in the end, none of this beautiful post will matter, at all. Because this is not about facts. Feelings trump facts. And this is about feelings. If your narrative fortifies the readers' preconceived understanding of what's happening, it's not important whether you're factually wrong. You will be believed. If there is no fixed opinion on the subject, and just about generally, appeal to an us-versus-them mindset. Take the opposite of what you want, label it as "that's what _they_ say", and presto. You will be believed. In this political climate, it is the great tragedy of the political centre that facts don't matter, knowledge is frowned upon, and solutions are not the goal.

Danielle Belec, R u kidding?! Do u really need 2 make the statement: "How did Trump graduated from college?" Maybe he didn't graduate! I could care less. Maybe from a Tech School (not demeaning credible people), or likely Real Estate Class. Even the blind, who listens 2 the tone of his words, the delivery of immature, senseless, inconsistent dialogue would easily assume he didn't! If he graduated, what an enigma he is. Face it... Trump is inarticulate, incoherent, uncharismatic--basically a moron--"make it up as u go along", kinda person. The sad thing is - is base, is equivalent! Next time, during a rally--like the recent one in Virginia--take a look in2 the crowd, & c if u can perceive, intellectuals amongst them. It's scary, because it's reflective of the way Nazi behaved with that movement then. A fair, intelligent, perceptive, & Godly person, would c this madness. 8/7/17 10:22am
