The United States should end military aid to Israel. 1. Military Aid to Israel is unnecessary. Israel is a very prosperous country and more than capable of paying for its own military. 2.Military aid to Israel is a security risk to the United States. Israel has been selling American developed military technology to China for more than a decade. These sales have been instrumental in the modernization of China's military. 3.Military aid to Israel is a diplomatic liability, 4, Military aid to Israel is illegal under American law. Israel's human rights violations disqualifies Israel from receiving military aid under the Leahy law and Israel's refusal to allow inspections of its nuclear sites or sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty makes any aid to Israel illegal under the Symington Amendment.

That is a nonsensical phrase that shows low information of history. The Js started BUYING land in the 1880s. By time the 1940s came around, Js owned more land than the As (you now call them Pals...even though they refused being calling that then, as it wasn't a name they gave themselves) The vast majority of the land wasn't owned by or occupied by anyone. It was crown lands. Then it was divided up. The land was also undeveloped and underdeveloped until the Js went and bought the land and built towns and societies. Those societies offered better living and that brought in As from all over. To Js land. As soon as Is was created, they were bombarded by all the countries around them (like 7 of them). They've been being attacked by the Pals for 80+ years now. Pals have refused any solution. Over time, land was won and lost. Is VOLUNTARILY gave back the area they're in now. Instead of building up the area and creating their own society, they instead spent their time, money, rss, etc. on continuing to go after Is. Many of th Pals have come to the area after Is was created. Again they came to the towns and cities that were created by them that offered better living. And yet, still attacked them. So, it is Is land.

Thank-you! Thank-you I've so admired your work. My graduate studies in Geneva Switzerland and work in humanitarian affairs has made keenly aware of the entire cruel history of the Occupied Palestinian lands. No one can invalidate the horrors inflicted upon the European Jews during WWII - and that includes the refusal of the USA to allow more Jewish refugees to arrive here to safety. Sadly, tragically this suffering is being exploited by those who solely seek power in Israel. Netanyahu recognizes that when petroleum no longer has any value to the USA, the USA will be able to walk away from its alliance with Israel. So Netanyahu sees "Now" is the time to ethnically cleanse the Palestinians from their homeland of 1,300 years. Contrary to the book & film everyone adored, Exodus - the Levant was not a desert. If only an independent secular country, where Jews, Muslims & Christians lived in peace together had been created after WWI. Your statement here Mr. Reich was a courageous one - and I now admire you even more.

It seems the Israeli playbook is based on the idea that everyone in Gaza is Hamas. The attacks on aid convoys and hospitals seem to back this up. From a moral standpoint, didn't a Bronze-Age text say, "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and a life for a life?" That means justice or vengeance or whatever should be _no more_ than 1 for 1. But 33,000 killed is not equivalent to under 1000 killed. Either they've been waiting for a pretext to slaughter, or they're in some kind of blood-rage over the October 7th attacks. Which one was it for whites before they went after Blacks in Tulsa?

@@jackcarraway4707 They cheered on Septermber 11th, but weren't involved. The petty Anti-American opinions of oppressed people in the Gaza Ghetto don't mean much to me. I doubt many Gazans were involved in October 7th. And Israeli intelligence knew about the plan, but the government ignored it, just as the American leader did for Al Qaeda, too. In some media, they're saying Israel created Hamas. Normally, the existence of a radical or extremist group causes the government to come to the table with the moderate one. This is how women got the vote in the 19th Amendment. But instead they destroyed the PLO in favor of Hamas. Which makes it look like they were setting them up and this was the pretext to purge the ghetto, like was done in the Warsaw ghetto.

This is another example of how Americans and their leaders must decide whether to act on principle or expediency. Where we’ve gotten it wrong, the repercussions and damage to our reputation and voice of reason and moral authority have had long lasting effects. The American experiment played a role in the decline of monarchies and lead to the rise of self determination as a means of governance. The foundational principle of egalitarian liberty and justice for all generated threads that resulted in major gains beyond what the writers of the Constitution might have intended as these threads were followed to their logical conclusion. Whenever we choose expediency over principle, we violate our own moral authority in a way that damages our claim to lead on the issue of valuing the individual. Supporting a reasonable and measured response to the October attack on Israel by Hamas could have been justified on principle. America’s practically unconditional support for Israel’s indiscriminate and brutal conduct against the people of Gaza is not justifiable and must stop.

I hope you're not saying "it must stop" and allow Israel to get back to it's brutal occupation of Palestine? America needs to get behind the solution to this crisis, force Israel to end it's occupation and retreat to it's legal borders!

@@KarlFullerNZNo, I’m not saying cease fire and go back to the pre-conflict policy of conflict. I’m not an expert and couldn’t begin to say what form the end game should take. I have been aware since the turn of the millennium that Israeli provocation in the occupied territories wasn’t going to end well. Netanyahu’s installation as PM for two decades has only escalated the problem given his legal troubles and struggle to hold power dependent on extreme right wing authoritarian nationalist support. The last Israeli leader to openly support the obvious workable solution- full citizenship for Palestinians in Israeli and an independent Palestinian state- was assassinated. What does that tell us about where the problem lies?

We provided foreign assistance to a country/state that in 2022, its GDP was a little over $330 billion and estimated GDP to be $522 billion in 2023. The is a developed country. $522 billion is more than the GDP of Ireland. In 2022, the United States committed over $3.3 billion in foreign assistance. Currently in 2023, the United States committed over $3.8 billion in foreign assistance. It needs to stop. That foreign assistance money can be used better somewhere else. Have you guess which country/state?

The sad fact remains that although many in Israel oppose Netanyahu, less than 2% believe he's being too hard on the people of Gaza according to polling.

Do you stand with Israel being the illegal occupier of Palestine for many decades that has led to this crisis? Did you stand against the stealing of land in the West Bank?

@@KarlFullerNZJs started BUYING land in the 1880s. By time the splitting of it came around, Js owned more than the Pals(they used to refuse to be called that because they didn't create it) The vast majority was unowned. It was crown lands. Then it was divided up, as you know. Js went and paid (overpaid even) and then built towns and societies. Those societies offered better living and that brought in As from all over. To Js land. Not the other way around. They've been being attacked by the Pals for 80+ years now, who have refused any solutions. Instead of building up the area and creating their own society, they instead spent their time, money, rss, etc. on continuing to go after Is. Many of the Pals have come to the area after Is was created. So, it is Is land.
