Hi Brad. Another option I have found for guys wanting to do small projects ie painting guitar bodies is to use an lvlp spray gun instead of hvlp. I have an 8 gallon compressor and it works great

Another cheat is to pressurize your tank at say 100psi and then regulate back down at your gun. That 100 psi in the tank compresses much more volume than the 25 psi you are using. This effectively makes your tank 4X larger.

I recently begun to build my first bass, and I was looking for videos about clear coating, and your videos came up. All of your videos are so good and informative that I have gladly subscribed and your content is always helpful. I was going to use SprayMax 2K, but I found out that it contains isocyanates, and since they can't be filtered out and I don't have a supplied air mask, I decided that it wasn't worth it. Instead I went with a product called Maxx Clear that was pretty awesome, but it came out way too heavily from my airless gun. Now I am looking to see what kind of compressor that I can find to run an HVLP gun in my shed-converted-to-a-wood-shop so that I don't have to bring out my bigger compressor from my garage. And look whose video came up when I searched? Once again, I feel like I am better informed. Thanks again and keep up the good work, because I'll keep watching!

I'm running off a small 1HP compressor that says its rated for 4cfm @40PSI. When I test spray some water through it I get the full 5.5inch fan pattern but when I put paint in it (properly reduced to paint manufactured specs) my fan pattern shrinks significantly to about 3.5 - 4 inches (wide open fluid and fan). great video, just one question, wouldn't a big long hose act as additional tank space. I mean i know it may drop the pressure a bit, but wouldn't it still add capacity ?
@BradAngove6 жыл бұрын
It might add a very minimal amount of capacity, but at the end I think that air might not count for anything because there wouldn’t be enough pressure in the tank to push it through properly anyway.

That depends on the gun. The modern hvlp guns run at lower pressures, but still require large volumes of air. Hence the acronym. Large volumes generally require relatively large compressors, so I’m going to have to disagree with your summary. Lvlp guns can run on small compressors. real eyes realize real lies... I don’t believe gasoline comes in either sheen, but you can check it when completely wet by lighting a match real close up...Hope this helps ...

Thx for the info. just told my mom she would have to spend at least 1,000-2,000$ if she wanted to paint her house on her own lol.

@masonreppeto8825 жыл бұрын
@@BradAngove NO on a spray painter,big air compressor and barrels of paint. she's too lazy to use a roller XD. And she certainly wouldn't pay me enough to paint it xd. so thx for the info

Glad I could help haha. Spray painting your house usually isn’t a great idea. The overspray gets everywhere. I’ve done it for warehouse walls though and I will say it is fast.

I’m doing a kit guitar build. Those videos go up every Friday excluding an interruption last Friday for the contest winner announcement.

How many gallons do I need at the least to paint a car
@BradAngove6 жыл бұрын
Of air, or of paint?
@Comps-pv2wr6 жыл бұрын
@@BradAngove yeah air? I have a 10 gallon compressor but not sure if it is big enough
@BradAngove6 жыл бұрын
It depends on the size of the motor and it’s ability to keep up with the demands of the gun. 10 gallons isn’t all that big, but if the compressor puts out a ton of air then you don’t need too much air storage.
