As a 911 dispatcher I don't call people "honey", "dear", "baby" or anything like that because it is "safer" not to do that, and to be somewhat cool and professional. Some callers call me "honey" or they say "oh thank you dear" and I think its sweet but other dispatchers don't like being called "honey". When I listen to 911 recordings and the dispatcher is black and calls the caller "baby" I think it sounds so comforting! It's not my style but I just love hearing it.

@@ShelbySteele23 - Yes! I'm a Black woman in my 40s, so I was just a little girl in the 70s. For years now I've been on a search for this beautiful brown lip color that I saw many Black women wear back then. I've yet to come across any nude color that matches it. Also, I can't tell if it was a lip gloss or a lipstick. I just know that it had a lovely sheen to it, yet it wasn't as translucent and shiny as most glosses are today. I'm probably just out of luck, as I'm sure they don't make it anymore, but I'd love to find something close to it. I love this take on reaction videos. A lot of them seem aimed at white audiences who watch to see if the Black reactors are “sophisticated enough” to appreciate what white artists of the past have done, and it seems like at least some of the reactors know this and play to it. Assuming it’s sincere, that first look of approval of a recording, though, isn’t the Black reactor “getting” the recording. Like you say, it’s amazement at a white person doing exceptionally well, since so many white people can fail upward and get away with a level of mediocrity that Black people can seldom attempt to get by with. So much of the world is a giant non-competitive employment and benefits program for undeserving whites, leaning on connections and lots of benefit of lots of doubt.
@vincegay986
@vincegay986 3 жыл бұрын
@JagBrit Good point. The amount of white effort that goes into erasing and downgrading the sophistication of others would seem to indicate that there is quite a lot of sophistication to hide. Those who are actually confident that they’re tops in all ways, or even adequate, don’t devote huge amounts of energy to declaring their “supremacy”.
@vincegay986
@vincegay986 2 жыл бұрын
…though I don’t see how I failed to make it clear that I’m aware that there’s as much, if not more, sophistication among Black people as among whites. So your condescension is particularly uncalled for.

@@vincegay986 yesss!!! I say this all the time!! NO ONE whos “naturally superior” does all the nonsense white folks have done for literally CENTURIES to black people if they actually thought they were “naturally inferior” people! All racism towards black people is 1000% jealousy! The racist white folks SAY they are superior but their actions say they actually think black folks are the superior ones!

I'm 35, and I've been wearing the same uniform my entire life: blue/black jeans with a T-shirt that has a cartoon or video-game design on it. Morning, noon, or night, it's what I'm wearing. If I'm not in the shower, then that's how I'm dressed.

As a kid I dreaded Sunday mornings because my parents made me dress up in a collared shirt and wear khakis to church. 25 now and blue jeans T-shirt combo most days. My main beef with khakis is the way the opening of the pockets are. It goes down the pant leg instead of across the waist like blue jean pockets, so when you sit down in khakis (or any dress pants I've seen, they all have the same terrible pockets) everything in your pockets goes sliding right out. I don't understand why no one else acknowledges this problem or why no clothing company has decided to make any pants other than jeans that have pockets oriented that way. Even cargo pants / shorts have the same shitty down the leg slit pockets. Am I the only person this bothers? It's honestly the main reason why I wear blue jeans every day.
