Brutal Wolfenstein 7.0 is the best Wolfenstein 3d experience anyone can have, thank you for making it. I have played a lot of Wolf3D mods over the years starting with everything Wolf Skevos-Jones made, and BW 7.0 is the absolute best. I don't like Brutal Doom at all either which is funny to me, Brutal Doom feels like a downgrade, Brutal Wolfenstein is an enormous upgrade.

those vehicles in the test map had always existed and there are even enemy vehicle variants. however, due to some game breaking bugs, you never see them when you play bd in any other map

Most of those vehicles from test maps(and the monsters) can be found in the Extermination-Day(Eday) megawad which Is the Updated Hell on Earth Starter pack. Eday is my fav megawad pack, and its pretty complete for the most part.

Extermination Day is actually planned for full release once v22 is finished. He's been touching it up alongside the main mod, and ED is meant to fully release with it.

That's awesome! I was always confused and overwhelmed by the mod too; but it seems really cool. I'd like to ask though; i remember checking Brutal Doom's code once, for reference of a mod I was trying to make, and i saw Mark wrote stuff like "Who else would be looking at this but PB devs? Go make your own mod, losers!" and i was pretty shocked and a bit sad. Do you guys have beef with Mark or is everything fine now?

I know it’s alot for some but I enjoy the enemy, weapons and gameplay variety and the sheer chaos it has over vanilla and even brutal doom. The excavator or whatever the hell that underground RL is called has got to be the best weapon ever put into ANY game lol. What are the future plans for PB and when is the next update gonna be out?

Personally, I prefer Brutal Doom because it sticks closer to vanilla. PB is great, but all the custom weapons and enemies break the balancing on many maps. In general, both of these mods are better on maps designed specifically for them.

BD ha the perfect level of complexity for some gameplay that feels modern but doesn't remove the simplicity that makes Doom easy to pick up and play.

Which is why I usually prefer Beautiful Doom. Super underrated mod IMO, makes the game feel a lot cooler like BD without really screwing with vanilla balance if you don't want it to.

Brutal Doom really kicked up community interest and engagement for classic Doom back in the mid 2010s, and it has been a great mod ever since. Sgt. Mark is an insanely talented and skilled creator. He's even making a full fledged game based on GZDoom called Brutal Fate. I personally think Brutal Doom is superior. PB borders on being like Complex Doom, which is a clusterfuck in itself. BD keeps it simple comparatively.

I think what I liked most about Brutal Doom was how the weapons were handled, of all things. They're a lot more dynamic and fun to use, and the reloading for the assault rifle and shotgun was perfectly fine. It was also fun to shoot corpses to tear them apart, if only because it gave me more to do with whatever excess ammo I had, which was quite commonplace.

Extermination Day did release, at least the 001 beta version. Actually there are a few variants of it on Moddb now, even one compatible with vanilla GZDoom (in the sense it is packaged with the assets needed for it to run with almost any other mod, I don't think there's enough ammo to beat EDay with the vanilla arsenal). Personal favorite is Chebmaster's version, which fixes bugs and remasters most of the maps with new effects, backdrops and setpieces, but is only compatible with v21. I heard the full official release of Extermination Day will come out alongside the final build of v22.

My first doom mod was PB2.0 thinking it was Brutal Doom. Not finding out it was its own thing after departing from being a BD fork addon for a while before playing the actual Brutal Doom mod. You're description of Project Brutality is on point, as it's BD but with more frantic violent combat, twice the enemies and variants, and three times the weapons. But, Brutal Doom stands as one of the greatest mods because not only is it the orginator of keeping Doom, Doom. But, because it managed to do that while making it "modern", fresh, new, yet faithfully familiar. Essentially, what people described vanilla doom as in the 90s. Both BD and PB get a lot of unnecessary flak for outshining every other mod in their past attempts or popularity. It's to be expected in a small niche community where most memebers are the type that only play Doom as their sole video game AND know the doom engine in and out. Either way, if you ever want to go back and play more BD and PB for a few hours. There is also Brutal Doom Platinum which is quite the middle geound of BD and PB. Or, for a more traditional way like BD mostly is, try Brutal Pack. It keeps the orginal gun line up, but has some Eternal mechanics, and a like only 3 new enemies iirc.

The nailgun in PB is a great tool to get yourself out of tight spot. It shreds anything it touchs, and also doubles as a harpoon gun.

Honestly, the main thing I love about Project Brutality is the Revolver. Doing single Revolver-only starts on most classic maps is pretty fun because it forces you to really plan your attacks with only 6 shots before you have to reload. (does not work on slaughter maps) The problem of course is figuring out how to spawn one. I still don't know the proper command console code and looking up the sources has yielded broken results. Probably something I'll have to check for myself.

V22's new animations are so amazing. The inspect animations of Doomguy press checking the shotgun and pistol adds so much personality. After binging John Wick along with Extraction 1 and 2, weapon press checks are so fucking awesome.

If I may make a suggestion...I think you should cover Hideous Destructor, LiTDoom and Feet on the Ground. They are all great "slower, tactical survival 'horror' mods" that change up what Doom is, but are still a ton of fun

Project Brutality began as an addon to Brutal Doom iirc. Basically takes it up to 11, but has long since spun off and became its own thing. I initially preferred Brutal Doom because it was better balanced overall, but PB has improved a lot over the years, and is better balanced while still maintaining a lot more new features over BD. Sgt Mark IV took a big break from BD to work on his own game, and in that time, PB pretty much has overtaken BD in terms of overall quality. There's a new version of BD coming out soon though, so I'm looking forward to that. Both are excellent.
