Hi Webby, Thanks for very honest video and disclosing your cost of living in Thailand comfortably. I think most guys don’t realise things like you said exchange rates and inflation changes. High & Low seasons price changes especially as you said starting rent in the high season on a 12 month contact. Like you with no disrespect I could not live in one of them room for 5/6000 per month rooms especially in Pattaya. If it was in the country you probably get something half decent. I also think your right to keep the house just in case you never what’s going to happen in the future, you need an exit plan just in case. You’re still fairly young and healthy but as you get older the medical conditions start to arrive. I am nearly 70 and fairly fit and in good shape and love life, I am not going to stay at home in my slippers and watch TV waiting to die get out there and live you life to the full but you must have some kind of budget & plan. Will arrive back in Pattaya end of October might see you around. Keep up the great work Cheers Irish Paul

Trouble is that the financial future for all of us could be quite fickle. I owned a house in Florida some years ago. I kept it figuring the rent as an income source(2006~09). In retrospect that was a bad move. The real estate market in Florida peaked just after I left. It would have been better to have sold it and invested the money. Far better return and no hassles. It is impossible to get a guaranteed return that is more than the rate of inflation on any investment. But with a bit of risk it is possible to double~triple the rate of inflation(about 4% / year). That means 8~12% ROI. So with 200,000 units invested, a return of 16~24,000 units annually is possible. Add any retirement payments to that amount and a person should be able to live quite well in Thailand. Your numbers and ROI may vary. And if the whole damn thing worldwide goes down the drain it won't matter where you are but SE Asia will still be a more survivable area.

What are your thoughts on the Thai government's plans to tax all money entering your Thai bank account from the UK, wether it's from savings or from income, even though Thailand and the UK have a taxation agreement, the recipient must still prove tax was paid in the UK. As you may know ISA savings accounts in the UK aren't taxed so any money from these accounts would then be subject to Thai taxation when they arrive in your Thai bank account. Are their any tax accountants in Pattaya that can advise you,if so can you please do a video on this subject, Thanks in advance 👍

Cheers Webby, very informative about your situation and how you are managing to live in Pattaya .. Can’t wait to get out there in November next month. 😎🌴🤪🤪🤪. But my plan is to live in Thailand in our winter months and work in the UK during the summer. Until I get my works pension and sell my business in a few years time.

I have been living in Thailand for 12 years. I think you are nuts living Pattaya. I live an hour up the coast. 6000 Baht and you can rent a brand new three bedroom house beautifull beaches, plenty of expats and bars if you want that and if you really miss Pattaya that much it's only an hour away on a scooter.

@@welshboywebby Tell you what Webby I know what you mean. I live near Koh Samet and love the area. I have recently been staying in a hotel close to you once a week in the BB hotel on the seafront not far from the 7/11 with the cafe upstairs. There is always a great buzz in the city, but I am not sure I would want to live there, no self control.

Sage advice, its true lads DO NOT sell your house, who will bury you? tell me that? If you have family back home that should be your base. Renting house out, sounds like it will be a break even but I don't see any way around this, leaving a house empty is very risky as feral scum neighbors know no one is home and will start to take things, or even try to break in. So best to find a good agent, monitor it, lay down some rules and that should work.

100k baht covers a moderate lifestyle I think. (Single male) Rent and bills 25k ish. That leaves you 2600 baht daily. Can spend way more than that on a night out however spend just a few hundred in the days spent at home. Don't buy here unless you want to stay in the property for a long time if not forever. Reference his boiler talk: renting you don't get all the maintenance fees and service fees in condos. Pool, lift, amenities. My friends with wives and kids do ok with 150k baht (5k USD) Can you live on 30k baht? Sure yeah but you're just existing and not really living. Currency will swing back after the US elections if you want to trade it. An 11% move rn. Healthy The 4 > 5k GBP is a bit off i feel. Not sure what you spend your money on lol but minus bars and girls then 100k >150k is waaaay more than enough. Could eat at peaky blinders (mid range) every day on these numbers. Where was that flight found? Assuming its UK to here and back. Thats a decent price realy

Everyone is different but, for me, sell your house. It’s a millstone. I sold everything - house, business, car, even my clothes, and came here to live in September. I’m in Bangkok though (Pattaya would kill me 555) so my living costs are higher than Pattaya, but still lower than UK. MUCH lower.

@@welshboywebby I have a relative who had 6 rental properties. Now down to 4 and planning to sell all but 1 of those. He’s keeping 1 because another relative lives in it and he wants to do them a favour. It’s a constant struggle and I know a lot of other landlords are bailing out as well. As I said, everyone is different but if it’s doing you head in, maybe time to have an easier time of it.

@@welshboywebbyKeep it! You need a UK address. Keep social media postings to a minimum. Cut a long story short, some pension companies will not pay annuities if you are abroad.

@@Marco-w2l two things. A UK address can be any. Mine is my niece’s property. Everything goes there. She even registered me on the voters roll 😂 and annuities in the Uk can be paid to you no matter where you live. What you may refer to is most will refuse to send the money to an overseas bank.
