For all the years I've been working on stuff, been a technician, focused on driveability and diagnostics, one of the regrets I have is not doing more to learn basic fabrication and welding skills early on. Not necessarily something I want to focus on professionally, but something I've always wanted to have the capability and competence to do at least on my own junk. Sometimes out of necessity, other times because it simply opens up so many possibilities that aren't there when you either don't want to let anyone you don't trust work on your stuff and/or can't afford to pay actually qualified people to do the things you want. I randomly got hooked on Matt's Off Road Recovery - never having intentionally gone off-roading before unless you count snow fun - and now I'm hooked on this channel and others showing building off-road rigs. It's given me the inspiration to finally look for the XJ I've wanted since I was a kid. But more importantly, it's lit a fire under my butt to finally learn welding and fabricating (or at least sticking metal together and fabricobbling) and expand my skillset. Not only does it feel great to learn, but it feels amazing to know that you have the capacity to build something of your own. And even better, having fun with it when you're "done". So I just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration and all of the little tips and everything along the way. I always love to see someone become successful from giving back and it's obvious you guys enjoy it. Have a great day!
