Also, you have to remember Blaziken was pretty much fresh that fight while Charizard had a tough fight a day beforehand. The only reason Charizard lost was its fatigue making it so it couldn't stay up, one more flame thrower would have done it.

Johto was my favorite, if you grew up watching it on tv it’s a real experience. As kids we thought that there was only 151 pokemon but finding out there was a whole new region and now we get episodes also learning what that Pokemon was in the beginning episode, the hype was amazing. It was only after johto that we always expected a new region and new Pokemon as time went on. Johto was the game changer.

That Ground type point is the reason I'm not mad at stuff like Golem's Magnitude hitting Charizard. He's on the ground right now you're telling me he just won't feel it. With the other immunities it makes sense but Flying feels like it's only immune to Ground because most Ground moves deal with something they don't have to interact with. Why do you think a Flying type is vulnerable when it Roosts or someone uses Gravity. They're just on the ground now.

In the games, I think pokemon can't jump out of the ground when using dig. They just pop out from the ground and punch from there. The logic would be that flying pokemon would immediately go into the air the moment you yell the move. Same thing with magnitude or earthquake. Either Charizard is dumb to not take flight, or Ash is dumb for not warning him. Probably both.
