📍 According to recent divorce documents, the then 35-year-old Charlie Chaplin seduced Lita Gray, then only 15 years old. After three years of marriage, she filed for divorce, because unfair treatment and his perversions.
Documents from 1927 that were previously unknown were retrieved from the National Bank of Los Angeles. Divorce papers revealed with unknown details about the privacy of the silent film star. The exciting documents are in the possession of an unnamed individual who is now trying to sell them using a British auction house.

Lita Gray couldn't get film roles after her 1927 divorce from Chaplin, so she turned to TV???? There WAS no TV in 1927. And that comment about her having a leading role in television in 1933 ... there were no television productions being made in 1933. What the hell???

Thats not true exactly. My father was born in 1923 and he told me there WAS television (of sorts, possibly in Europe) before WWII. He told me the war had put the emerging medium on hold while the war was happening. After the war was over this new media was revisited and began to grow into the TV shows of the late 40s (community type broadcasting) and early 50s (national broadcasting like I Love Lucy).

The 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin were televised, and that bit of info is attributed to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Interesting, but ruined by an endlessly repetitive script that repeated the same fact over and over as if you hadn't already been told it four or five times completely. Instead of being chronological or thematic it just jumped back and forward over the same information. It needed a good script editor. it would also help if stills and photos of Chaplin with young women actually said who they were. Your work is interesting, with great potential, but as II said it needs better script editing and captioning.

Hi, this was incredibly informative on Charlie Chaplin so thanks from this. I'm amazed how such intelligent people can make such crazy decisions. He certainly did like his young girls and his affairs, they clearly didn't work to live they worked to pay their divorce lawyers and ex wives it seems. Hi Age of Vintage, how are you going? Charlie Chaplin, not quite the happy go lucky in his private life as he was portrayed in his film career. I did know of his philandering personality, however your research has thrown a new light on a few things. I can't honestly say he's been one of my favourite star's from the Golden Years of Hollywood, due to his demanding & overbearing control to make his wife Lita Grey participate in a tryst with him & another woman. When she tried to refuse he said you are my wife & you'll do as I say. He certainly had a penchant for very underage girls. Always appreciate you're really hard work & accuracy on your channel. I enjoyed seeing this. I knew a little about Chaplin but not much. Small factoid…my great greal uncle was Lita Grey’s attorney against Chaplin in the divorce. I knew he made a lot of money out of the trial. He went on to work for many actors in Hollywood.

Charlie Chaplin did indeed have a "dark side", actually several. Personally, I'm not a fan. Charlie as revered as he is today is basically a one-trick pony. Every character he ever played was a variation of the Tramp role, Johnny Depp is another overrated one-trick pony. Charlie's obsession with underage girls got him into serious trouble twenty years later with another teenage actress Joan Barry. Barry took Charlie to court claiming that he was the father of her baby girl, and won. Charlie went through four trials related to his relationship with Joan Barry and managed to be acquitted of some of the charges. In later years Charlie was very bitter and he never became an American citizen, despite the huge fame, influence and fortune that the United States gave him. I always thought the movie about him that portrayed him as a bitter, caustic, cynical and overall unhappy person was very accurate. There are film historians that believe that it was actually Fatty Arbuckle that gave him the Tramp persona. Sorry, not a fan of Chaplin.

When Lita first asked Chaplin for a divorce all she wanted was 10 thousand dollars. I'm sure she'd have been talked out of that deal quickly, but at the time Chaplin called her a bitch and said she'd never get a dime from him. Chaplin got easily irritated with his first two wives and complained about their lack of knowledge. Idk but maybe he shouldn't have married 16-18 year olds when he was in his late 30's lol. Lita did say in later years that some of the accusations put forth in the divorce lawsuit, mostly pertaining to deviance, were somewhat exaggerated. Her first autobiography, My Life With Chaplin, was somewhat exaggerated as well, at the suggestion of her co author and publisher, in order to sell more books. It bothered her over the years so much that she wrote another autobiography, Wife Of The Life Of The Party, to set the record straight. It didn't paint Chaplin as a saint but was fair and closer to the truth according to her and her son Sydney who wrote a foreword for the book. BTW, when Charlie Chaplin wrote his autobiography he dedicated all of two sentences to write about Lita. His memories of her were not fond at all, but he wouldn't trash her in the book because of the two sons they had together. He never even said her name.Lita was in her 80s when she wrote the second book and was determined to finish it, since people had a fascination with her for her entire life for having been married to Charlie Chaplin for two short years so long ago. She died the year it was released, 1995, at age 87. Charles Chaplin died Christmas Day, 1977 at 88 years old near Vevay, Switzerland.
