Daniel if you always have car battery issue. try investing in a AGM battery they last many months without charging. we use it in boats. for 3months without using my boat and it still start with just a crank. japan make 1 of the most reliable cars in the universe. look no where else. an obd2 diagnostic you can change your own parts. great choice with your toyota. :) they are the most reliable in my country.

Nice video, Daniel. How did you get away with passing shaiken on car for 20 years though?
@Footrotflats2514 жыл бұрын
I dont think it's as in depth as you think, more so the yearly registration fee increases I think The majority of the cars getting exported are only about 5 years old so owning this particular car being that's it's not an RX7 or a Skyline is very rare for it to stay in Japan for so long, it's hard to say but it most likely will go to Pakistan or another 3rd world country as it's too old to be imported to New Zealand

Hello! There am from the U.K and cars here are crazy expensive, even for a used Toyota reliable small car of 1.4 to 1.6L engine is like between £2500 to £3000 for almost a 10 years old car. Am keen to buy my next car from Japan, my uncle lives there who will help with buying it. My question is roughly how much will the UK government charge me with import duties/taxes to get the car up and running in the UK. Any advice/opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What about taxes and other fees on old cars in Japan ? is it expensive to keep an old car ?
@AVDanielViolin5 жыл бұрын
yes, more expensive than a newer car.
@99corncob6 жыл бұрын
The reason that these are so cheap is the mandatory maintenance the law requires to keep a car registered. By the time a car is 5 years old, it can require a couple thousand dollars' worth of replacements parts -- like struts, brake disks, and other major parts -- that must be replaced to renew the registration, and this cost comes up every year. Many of these parts are things that would never be replaced over the life of the car in America. The low car values also make it profitable to export used Japanese cars to southeast Asia and Africa and several big companies do this.
@warrenbaffer65986 жыл бұрын
But buying a used Japanese import car wasn't cheap bro. For the used Toyota Estima would cost easily RM70,000.00-95,000.00

In Japan used cars seems very cheap because I think they want to get rid of them and produce new once all the time, but in Sweden though a car producer such as Volvo which is very nice n reliable car, they sell used cars with sky rocket prices let alone new ones.
@iyadart6 жыл бұрын
Used cars get cheaper because Japanese law makes you pay ungodly amounts of money for the annual safety inspection, plus the majority of Japanese drivers rarely fix their cars by themselves, so often times they get ripped off by paying for unnecessary replacement parts... In Japan, if you love cars and have basic knowledge of car mechanics, then, by all means, get a used one. But if all you want to do is sit behind the wheel and drive, then you probably should get a new one or at least find a friend who knows about cars.

I don't think you got a great deal buying a 2006 Prius for close to $5,000 (after taxes). The hybrid battery is guaranteed for 10-years only and a new replacement battery will cost around $4,500. Your 20-year old car (van) with sun roof looks much better.

I could never understand why Japanese people seem to throw away cars fortunately I think 80% get exported wheres here in New Zealand we hold onto our cars till the bitter end, people like me who perhaps can't afford a new car or finance for a 2nd hand import tend to drive old cars that we fix ourselves (I am actually a mechanic) I drive a 1991 Toyota corolla which was half built in New Zealand and runs on leaded petrol (you can still buy it at race tracks and some petrol stations)
