Not for me, I'm afraid. It made the game too much Tekken x Soul Calibur. Sounds nice but it's a mishmash concept that doesn't sit well with me. If Tekken 8 was entirely soul calibur with Tekken 8 mechanics I would have been stoked, but as a person that started from T1 and T3 and T5 Dark Ressurections being my favourites, this direction and its more leaning super anime fantasy approached tuned me out. Good stuff that you and everyone else is enjoying it though.

6:24-7:35 I agree with you what you said about Clive. Because you are right swords are part of martial arts too. I just think that when they think of martial arts they think of hand to hand martial arts and combat sports which I totally understand what they come from. But I just find it hilarious that since Tekken 1 we had Yoshimitsu, Kunimitsu, Jack-1, Prototype Jack, Kuma, and also Devil Kazuya if you get a perfect score on the Galaga mini game ( I have not achieved that in Tekken 1). Tekken 2 and 3 had Angel, Roger, Alex, Gun Jack, Bryan (he's a cyborg), Mokujin, Ogre, True Ogre, Dr. Bosconovitch, and Gon. Tekken 4 was the most realistic since it took its inspiration from Virtua Fighter 3. It still has the goofy fantasy charm with Yoshimitsu, Bryan, Kuma, and Combot. And I course from 5, 6, 7, and 8 that have Raven, Master Raven, Alisa, Azazel, Nancy MI847J, Claudio, Gigas, Lucky Chloe, Kunimitsu II, And Victor. So if they want a realistic hand to hand martial arts and combat sports like a lot of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Jet Li Films; and combat sports like boxing, PFL, One FC, Rizin FF and UFC they should go play Virtua Fighter now since Sega and RGG (Yakuza Like A Dragon Studio) announced Virtua Fighter 6 at The Game Awards. And also Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O comes out on Steam on January 28th 2025 of next year (same day of J. Cole's Birthday).

Honestly i really like the season 1 pass. Eddy is completely reanimated for the most part (Still not a fan of his new hair style). So i was fine with him being DLC since he had a fresh coat of paint. Especially since i knew not every tekken character can be on the base roster. I liked lidia in tekken 7 so i'm happy. Heihachi looks cool as usual but his new stance added a whole new layer to him as a character for me. As for clive regardless of whether you like clive or not or wanted tifa in tekken 8, nobody can say Clive is poorly made. They put so much detail, heart and soul into making him (and his stage) that it even surprised the Square Enix devs and honestly thats special. Frankly this just makes it more likely that Tifa could come to tekken 8 or 9 down the road.

Tekken 8 season one is great but Clive Rosfield is spectacular. But with Virtua Fighter is back I hope Akira is coming to Tekken 8 season two as DLC character. Happy 30th anniversary of Tekken.

I still stand that Clive is not a great choice for Tekken 8 for a guest character and it's mostly because of my view on the fact that I hate FF16 and I hate the characters in the game including Clive. THAT SAID.... We need more guest characters in Fighting games that that make no sense and Clive is a great example of this. And I will admit that Clive is fun regardless despite me not being a fan of him or FF16. To me, out of place guest characters like Noctis and Negen in Tekken are pure hype. This is a VERY hot take but IMO, my favorite guest characters in fighting games are Darth Vader and 2B in SoulCalibur because they make no sense. Also Vader's arcade ending in SCIV is pure Chef's Kiss with him wielding Soul Edge and Soul Calibur is just amazing.
