QUESTION - Have a question about how to run your clothing brand? Post in comments section of this video!
About This Video:
In this episode of Apparel Success, Rob talks about how to blow up your clothing brand through authenticity and brand identity and how to take your private label print on demand clothing brand into the stratosphere. Increasing clothing brand sales is difficult for most new clothing brand owners. Why is it that some brands explode right out of the gate while others struggle? How to market your clothing brand in 2022 is mostly about creating an authentic brand concept. The ecommerce shopify world is obsessed with genius marketing strategies, but marketing is ineffective if people don't want the brand you have created. Social media marketing will only get you so far if your brand isn't desirable. This goes for Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook marketing. The best brand strategy is to build a brand from your own authentic interests, personality, and experience. This information applies to your clothing brand, streetwear brand, t shirt business, print on demand (POD), fashion brand, dropshipping and beyond!

My family have turned their back on me because I'm building a clothing company but you give better advice than they ever could. So I know no matter what they say. I'm on the right side of the road and I will not give in. Because they want me to be a failure. I can't believe they could turn on me like this.

Can you do a video on how often to release new designs/clothing and having a garment for a limited time vs keeping that image permanently on website.

As the old saying goes, it takes 10 years to become an overnight success. For me, slow and steady wins the race.

I think we all forget from time to time that we are authentic and there's nobody else like us or that has the same story, that's what my channel is based off of and I'm considering starting a clothing brand for thoses who follow my journey to becoming a Custom Jeweler and this was a good reminder that I don't need to do anything special to market myself, I just gotta keep being unique and share my story. Great video, thanks for your advice!

Another great book, not just for branding but anything creative, is Malcolm Gladwell’s ‘The Tipping Point’. Not sure if it’s been mentioned here before but highly suggested and still relevant 22 years later!

Authenticity is so powerful, yet so taken for granted... when actually it's easier to be authentic and tell your real story than tey to be fake and something you think "you should be." relax and be you and express that to the world. others will resonate with it. many r afraid to be vukbery and it holds them back. let your honest emotions and opinions flow toward others and to the clothing. that is organic and the business will start rolling in 👍🏼

I got lucky that my demographic wore my hats to a Raiders game right on camera in the end zone. It was like a free tv commercial. I had set a good seo for the hat so when fans saw it on tv and looked it up my sales exploded. My paid social media ads were doing good but that organic drop on tv took it next level really fast. I was a designer for the nfl before I created the brand so had solid experience and knowledge but it only took one organic exposure like that to catch on. My brand voice & foundation resonated with the demographic. Everything you preach about a solid foundation can go very far. Now the players on the team wear the gear. Don’t give up people. Keep pushing and evolving your brand foundation.

Rob, great slow, relaxed CTA at the end of your video. Awesome job. Anyway, there are so many factors that go into the success of a brand, planning, strategy, funding, clarity of your audience, delivery of your brand's messaging, marketing, luck and more. It's one thing to catapult to the top because a celebrity wore it, but sustainability and longevity matter too. If one is lucky enough to be boosted by a celeb, the brand must also be positioned to fulfill a sudden demand for their products.

I feel like on top of all you said, creating a shock value as a way to go viral can be very effective, although not for everyone - but my personal favourite :))

I hate to say it but I'd prefer slow and steady growth vs a blow up. Cause I didn't have enough resource or enough experience for a tsunami of traffic so early in my brand. Our shopify hosted website started crashing and we sold out of every tee in less than 4 hours. It feels nice as it's happening, but responding to all the orders with only two people is hard as hell. Now we have double the inventory and I'm honestly fearful to restock after seeing the amount of traffic we had last time, even if it means success it's still a bag of mixed emotions.

@@ApparelSuccess I feel like its a be careful what you wish for kind of thing. I'm super thankful that what we have created is connecting with people, but having a lack of infrastructure, resources and experience is real hurdle that makes for some incredibly hard work in the early stages of a company.

Use that as a way to force yourself to being more creative. Make limited edition tees with a certain amount , have preorders so you can have a certain count of the inventory and give a date so you can do it at a certain pace. Just examples. Also consider hiring more help for at least one release at a time…Just try to stay positive and creative. Wishing you success on both ends of your brand !

@@1zzyduzit those are some pretty good ideas, we have stayed pretty consistent with the every other month drop. But I haven't really dove into the pre orders yet, but now that we have cultivated a larger audience I think we are gonna start doing it. Really appreciate the advice homie!

Hey man. I was wondering if you would consider doing a ‘brand review’ that wasn’t completely clothing related? I do have a Teespring store set up linked into my website. However, I’d really like your take on my website and clothing as a whole.

You’re right it does take culture to make a brand stick. Nowadays people lack innovation and the same crappy or boring designs with the right marketing can turn a profit. But that's not the goal for me. I want to make culture. I want to make a community. People are quick to spam the links and ask for people to buy their merch when they don't have an ounce of culture or authenticity. I want to take your heads off. I'm not selling out for the money.
