This July, the nearly 30-year ban on Pell Grants for incarcerated people will lift. Incarcerated people, regardless of sentence length or conviction type, will regain eligibility for this crucial form of need-based financial aid. Vera estimates that more than 760,000 prospective students will now be eligible to receive Pell Grants to fund their college education.
