@BienerSchnitzelCheekoroniАй бұрын
Your comment still doesn't give a valid answer. If you eat 20k calories in a cheat day. do you realize how hard it would be to burn that off? "cheat day" is a very subjective subject since for some a cheat day is a bag of chips or a pizza, but for competitors it's insane number of calories.
@WeenusMcMenace-dm6epАй бұрын
@@BienerSchnitzelCheekoroni Mainly because you don't absorb most of those calories. There's a limit to how much the body can absorb at once. For example glucose has an absorption limit of 60g/hr. And that's just the most simple carb which doesn't require digestion. For regular food, when you eat 20k calories in one sitting, your body simply doesn't have enough stomach acid and enzymes to break down the food as well as a 1000 calorie meal and it just gets passed out. If you down a cup of oil you're not going to gain 2000 calories; you're just going to get stomach pains and oily poops. Anecdotally competitive eaters do mention that their dumps just contain a lot of undigested food: “There are only so many calories you can consume in 10 minutes,” says Peter Czerwinski, a professional eater known as Furious Pete. “A lot of stuff goes through undigested.”
@TelmomarcusАй бұрын
Yes it is true that you cannont absorb over a certain amount of nutrients and calories in a certain amount of time, but also your digestion is slown down to account for the huge amount of food that you ingest. Even though you feel full for longer and you do not feel like eating for a while you keep absorbimg most of the food you eat uless you are ill.@@WeenusMcMenace-dm6ep
@Peacekeeper_84Ай бұрын
@@BienerSchnitzelCheekoroni not sure if you watched the whole video but they did explain how they do it, let's say that your maintenance calories is 2,500 that would be 17,500 weekly in total. Now let's assume you ate 10,000 calories in a food competition, that means you still have room for 7,500 calories intake for that week, you divide that by 6 and you get 1,250 daily calories. In that way you will still remain within your maintenance calories intake so you won't gain or lose weight, it's really that simple. I also have done this in the past and I would remain in my same bodyweight
@shinee8298Ай бұрын
@@WeenusMcMenace-dm6ep Not really, believe it or not the body is completely capable of absorbing incredible amounts of calories, even if ate all in one sitting, therefore saying "you don't absorb most of those calories" is pretty idiotic (you took that out of your ass), it's just not how it works. Not saying that after a massive binge everything will be absorbed no matter what, but in the best case scenario we're talking nothing more than 5-10% calories eaten not being absorbed, that's excluding the chance of puking (either intentional or not), that would surely get rid of a good chuck of the calories eaten, if it happens relatively soon after.

I thank you for this. I have a history with Binge Eating Disorder, got diagnosed and is now rehabilitated through successful therapy. From February 2023 to September 2024 I lost 120 pounds with Alternate Day Fasting and I am now able bodied, finally, at the age of 47. The big part for me was not how to fast, but how to use my eat days to really understand *what* to eat and when. My food intake is completely different now. I have realized I have the "power" to eat a lot very quickly if I want to and I have learned a lot from the competitive eaters. Calorie control, high protein and high fiber have been staples for me. Lots of eggs, beans, brussels sprouts, rye bread, quark etc. Walking is also very big for me. I do not just walk to burn calories, instead I incorporated walking as exploration into my life with 32 miles being the longest I walked in a day, with very memorable wonderful experiences. I have learned about my region in a way I did not knew when I was younger, having now walked every marked trail within a 45 minute drive from my home, over 200 of them. I have also pursued swimming badges for fun and I will begin cross-country skiing in January.

I think efficiency should not be forgotten. Lets say they maintain on 3000 kcal/day, would make 21000 kcal/week. If they then eat 10000 kcal on one day and 1850 kcal/day the other six, there is nooooooo way the body will absorbe the calories in the same efficiency. Everybody that did a cheat day will know this, on paper you should gain 1 kg of fat but you basically gain nothing because the big amount of food is just to much for the body to work with and it gets past through like that, partly. Like you can easily bench 50 kg for 10 reps but there is no way you bench 500 kg for one, physically on paper its the same, but the body cant handle those extremes

@maenad1231Ай бұрын
@ Use other adults as a comparison point for other adults, it doesn’t make sense to use kids whether they be toddlers or teenagers. How much a toddler is “supposed” to eat can not be compared to an adult in any way that logically makes sense because adults are supposed to eat for weight maintenance under normal conditions and toddlers are supposed to eat a caloric surplus for weight gain. Everything in a toddler is still growing/developing - bone length, bone mineral density, melanocytes, brain size, organ size, facial feature size, muscle development … literally everything. That takes A LOT of calories to grow. If an adult were to eat at the same surplus over their own BMR/TDEE that a toddler does they would just get fat because all of those things are done developing/growing so the excess calories would just be used to grow their fat cells instead

Also, not all calories gained during a big binge are actually converted to body mass. Jeff Nippard made a video about this 8 years ago: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJXEfmaclNSXp6ssi=L64gtaBu7_9nUdqI In short, if a man with a 3000-calorie metabolism eats 10000 calories once, he'll most likely only gain 3000-4000 calories worth of body mass.
@сырпошехонский10 күн бұрын
Exactly. Most of these 10000 calories left their bodies undigested. To change your body, you must work on it consistently. Just like you can't get fit by fasting one day a month, you can't get fat by binge eating one day a month. It's other 29 days that matter.

So that nice lady has a daily maintenance intake of approx 2500 calories (18000/7), that does show a somewhat high metabolism? For reference I am an 85kg active male who is reasonably trained (near double bodyweight backsquat) and I start gaining when I near 3000 calories

Proffesionals would tend to talk about insulin. You could eat 10k kcal a day without getting weight in theorie. Reality is more complex but insulin is the reason people can eat 800kcal and getting weight. Using insulin and insulin blockers is used in bodybuilding as example.

Oh damn... pls be kind I had a rough night. I need to mention that I talk about 800kcal a day and the thing with the bodybuilding: delete the first word and the sentence is good again. So does prof eaters use insulin blockers? I really doubt it. It is messing with you and that kills your abilitys. Strongmans as example do the same. Doesnt take a crazy amount of peds since it would mess them up. Bb is crazy.

@SenpaisFan You can gain fat in the abscene of insulin though. Not too complicated to gain on a keto diet if you keep your fat intake high.

Simply put, calories in calories out. 99% of their diet is on par and in a deficit and maintenance.
