When I shower in my bath tub, I collect all the “GRAY WATER” & use it to water my plants… I don’t have cable, what a waste of money, I cancelled my land line, who has land lines any more 😉. I shop at Winco, I buy meat that’s on sale, bottle water, hell no.. Straight from the tap, just add lemon powder… I wash by hand in the sink and hang it up in the shower… You are able to save if you put in the effort.. DONT DONT DONT BUY FAST FOOD, RESTAURANTS NAH, WASTE OF MONEY… IM DEBT FREE.. 👍👍👍. I love watching your videos… 💋💋💋

Home insurance cost can be drastically reduced by raising the deductible! I have mine at $2500. I save more than 50%. I’m not going to turn anything in for less than that anyway as it increases your cost.

When I moved into my house in 1977 I bought washer and dryer by using the recommendation in Consumer Reports for the machines needing the fewest repairs. Through the years these served our 3 person family well. The washer needed repairs in the late 90’s. The repair man replaced the belt(s) and recommend that we load it to only 75% capacity and use 1/3 the detergent. He said that the suds from the detergent along with too many clothes wears out the motor. I did as recommended and it lasted longer than the dryer. Dryer couldn’t be repaired so I bought a new pair in 2015 and was able to sell the washer for $150. Just about what I paid for it. So, follow Princess’ advice and it will save on detergent and repairs/replacements.

The difference is the old machines lasted for 20 years, the new ones have a shelf life of 7 to ten years, no matter how well you take care of it. My first washing machine and dryer lasted from 1995 till 2019, in 2019 I bought a new washer and dryer, never overfilled it with clothes or detergent. The washing machine sway bars went then the mother board, I had to buy a new washing machine after only 4 years, the gas dryer however is still going. My stove is 28 years old we bought it new in 1995 and my fridge is 15 years old in my kitchen, in my basement we have a fridge 40 years old and our deep freeze we bought in 2008 so I am not rough on my appliances. The new ones are crap and not even made in Canada or the US anymore

People work their lives away for such ridiculous things. I hardly buy anything. I pay bills and I keep living an amazing life. So many people have so many daily problems, I just do not understand. I've been a single mom in a resort town and I still maintain and my child is still as successful and smarter and more industrious than most of the well to do kids he goes to school with. He is clean, he has clean clothes, he has the same book bag he's had since 6th grade we just wash and reuse every year and he loves it. We take care of what we have. I'm tempted to sell my 20 year old car because I'm tired of the expense. It's just ridiculous if people focused on what they have, keeping it in good shape and clean they wouldn't have time to be buying more crap. It's just an amazing realization when you stop caring about the stuff and cherish the wonderful things that do bring happiness and help into your life. Like my small tool bag... I love it. Liability insurance covers fixing the other persons vehicle after an accident if you are found at fault. That is why you must have liability car insurance to legally drive in California. Full coverage is simply to cover repairs to your own car. You not having full coverage doesn't affect anyone but you. That is your choice. If you don't have liability insurance at the time of an accident in California you can have your license suspended for a year, even if the accident isn't your fault. So, if anyone says you are irresponsible for having only liability insurance they don't know what they are talking about. You are a great inspiration to me. FYI I was one of the people who didn't realize that laundry detergent cups had a line indicating how much to use. Now I buy laundry soap twice a year, not every month. You taught me that. I live in a senior apartment, I recently bought a small washer,. I waited till it was on sale. I usually spend 30-40 a month at the Laundromat. I figured it would take 3-4 months to pay for itself. I'm also saving what I would of spent for a fund to buy another. After that all I'm spending is for detergent. I found some at Walmart for 1.49 clearance super concentrated. I've been using the same bottle for 6 months. As far as electricity goes, I haven't noticed an increase. I already had two clothing racks. I know it's not a huge amount of savings but it all adds up. I finally got mint and now instead of paying 68 a month I pay 15. My savings is going towards a fund for a new phone if I ever need one. Just these two items saved me 75.00 a month. I know that's not a lot but 800.00 a year does. I also bought solar light bulbs. I charge them during the day and use them at night. These are only a few things I do and for some one low income, I'm doing well. These types of channels help me to reduce and maintain my lifestyle.

I 100% agree with you on insurance. I have liability only car insurance and I rarely drive. All insurance (apart from medical) is a scam. I also hate the medical insurance bill, but I had two surgeries this year and that saved me tens of thousands of dollars, so I’m very grateful I have good health insurance.

I bought zote soap bars, cut them in half, and used it to hand wash clothes which lasted my family of 8 a month. So for every bar I bought, I cut it in half, and in a month I used the other half. I was hand washing in a bucket. I had to do it every day. I did laundry every day also. The first thing I did every day was bring out the solar oven to cook (the older ones that take all day to cook), pull the laundry off the line, put it away, then start the next load and hang it to dry. By that time, I had to collect chicken eggs, harvest veggies, and bring it all inside. Then it was time to feed and water animals and gardens. Sometimes, in the height of summer, the clothing would be dry by 5 or 6 p.m., so after dinner, I might pull it and do another load, but usually not. Seriously though, $5 to $6 a year back then and I had enough laundry soap. Where we live just getting garbage pick up is an issue. Mint Mobile doesn't have coverage here because I live in a very very mountainous area, or I would absolutely get it. It works down in the garden, but not in the house. It might be perfect for calling for medical help. I will be taking your tips to save electricity. However, we work at home, so this will not save as much money as someone who works out of the home.

About the low flow water fixtures. You will end up paying more for maintenance services for your drain lines. The problem with low flow water fixtures are that the amount of water it takes to wash away waste to the main sewer so your waste lines over time will get backed up. Some of the worst cases are from low flow fixtures in an old constructed home the drains aren't pitched enough for low flow. Newer construction they pitch the drains more so that low flow fixtures can be used. Just a heads up about future maintenance costs.

So we went on Amazon, bought a antenna system that sits on a shelf and for about $150.00 one time. We get over a hundred stations. Many of them sports, plus local news, etc.

Ditto. I hate people who carry only the min. auto insurance required in their state because, when they hit someone and are 100 percent at fault, usually the poor, innocent victim has to pay, and pay. Or the victim has to have enough coverage, usually underinsured coverage, to cover their lost vehicle, other damages and health/long term physical therapy, loss of wages, and other costs such a rental vehicle, someone to care for them in their homes/cook and clean, medicines, hardware such as crutches, wheelchairs, etc. I wish more auto insurance companies would go after these people, who only carry the minimum amount of auto insurance needed, so that they can recoup their losses. Meanwhile, the rest of us have to carry underinsured insurance in order to make certain we are covered against these reckless drivers.

In my state it's no fault insurance, so no matter who's at fault your insurance company pays the bills then has to go after the other drivers insurance for reimbursement if the other person was to blame. That's why so many people get liability only and the state minimum.

I have arthritis in my hands; so, when I was without a washing machine & couldn't afford to buy one, I washed my clothes with my bare feet for four years. Clothes or linens in the bathtub, filled with water, add soap (way less than manufacturers recommend), agitate by walking back & forth in my tub, wring with an old-school mop bucket (careful not to break any buttons by squeezing too hard), drain soapy water & fill with rinse water, agitate & wring as before. Good exercise, clean & soft feet, & helped keep the bathtub clean, too. It wouldn't hurt for me to start doing that again. Also, I'm going to try the breaker box idea for the next month to see what the results will be on my next electric bill. Thanks for the great ideas.

Uh, I wouldn’t recommend giving up home insurance. I had a kitchen fire in August and managed to put out the fire quickly, but it cost me my stove (29 years old), my microwave (24 years old), a cupboard and miscellaneous “stuff”. I also needed all the carpets cleaned and ejection fans running for several days. I had a $500 deductible, but the goods needing replacing came to a few thousand dollars more than that. Also, as I couldn’t cook as before, my meals at restaurants were 70% covered. I had a similar experience when a pipe had a slow leak and did huge damage to a downstairs room. Like everyone else, I gripe about house insurance costs, but it has saved my butt twice now.

When I was in my motorcycle wreck - in 2000, I was forced to collide with the stopped Minivan of a young Woman who had no insurance - medical bills eventually forced me to sue my own insurance company. If people would only save ten percent of what they earned for an emergency, they could insure themselves ! The real question here is - How risk adverse are you ? , can you be comfortable running a moderate level of risk, and be able to live or die with the consequences, each of us are different on this point !

That is crazy high.. most power companies have a list of ways to save, or home audit. You want to make sure you don't have a leak on water... I mean are you checking how many units your bill says you are using? I use very little and my bills show zone unit used every other month. I have low flow showerheads that have a dial for different streams, low flow or two flush toilets that use less water, have turned water off on sinks or toilets not in use, and dont have any landscaping that needs watering.

We washed clothes by hand in a bucket when our washing mashine died. For six months until I found a bargain washer for twentyfive bux on gumtree. And we were washing two kids school uniforms and dance clothes. Not rocket science. Cold water, gentle soap, no parabens, line dry. Good Sydney weather. So no excuse. No need to go to a gym. Give your arms a small workout. Easy peasy people.

Got my laundry covered. Only way to save more is not use anything. The detergent I use calls for a full cup, I find ¼ cup works for me, no softener, line or rack dry. Been doing this for a long time so everything's bare bones. No cable, Roku box, no subscriptions, power strips on electronics, car insurance is shopped as with everything else. Working on paying off my car loan, about 1200, new roof (an absolute must) then student loan.

Princess I have an inside eye on what's going on with the groceries and it's everything. Something you like green grapes lets say they go out of stock your store won't have them for 2 weeks when they bring them back they are 1 to 2 dollars more. If you have a problem the home insurance takes too long for pay out and they pick and choose what they what to cover. I agree no homeowners insurance 😊

I agree with ALL! I need to dump my mobile service and go to cricket. Cut the cord on my cable and saving 200$ a month! There are so many things we waste money on. If everyone would look at their accounts on the regular and realize all these little amount add up to so much. Also... get creative. Eat what you have at home. Shop your own cabinets and freezer. Sell stuff you dont use. Even if its for little $$.

You are so right! I used to be under an insurance that was charging me too much so, I did my research and I ended up paying 660 dollars for 2 cars (full coverage) for 6 months. The insurance is quite reliable, several of my co-workers are in it and they are happy. I save 800 dollars. A win-win situation.

When I was super broke and couldn’t afford running laundry in my apartment with the soap, I used less soap with shredded fels naphtha or and rewore clothes. Now that I can afford nice soap and run my machine, and my husband works on a dirty, oily job, I wash his work clothes separate. You can even pre soak hard soiled clothes in a little bit of water and dawn dish soap before washing in the machine with LESS laundry soap. I have never had a problem with our laundry smelling and being clean. You can also use vinegar as a fabric softener. If you live next to a Walgreens or CVS you can grab a small sized All, Tide, etc every week for less than $3 and it will last. If you presoak and rewear your clothes that aren’t as dirty like dress clothes. I hope this helps someone!

I used to presoak clothes with Tide, forget exactly how but it worked. Run the hottest temp water you can, put the right amount of Tide for a load into a cup. Ru some Tide from the cup into any stain, then add a bit more to the spot, and put in the rest from the cup. Leave it in the hot water you put in the machine for 20 min to half hour, then run the rest if the cycle. My guess is it works with any other comparable detergent.

I am one of those who like having a personal video and book library and don't consider it clutter. I pick up dvds and vhs's for less than a buck each. I only buy what I am sure that I will watch. I get to watch some new shows on my son's subscriptions. I work two jobs, so there is plenty to watch if I want.

I stream from my smart TV. Tubi is free. Amazon Prime has movies. I watch you tube video's on my TV upgraded to premium, no ads. Worth it if you're a you tuber. Only pay internet. No cable, $66 monthly, internet only. I have unlimited on my phone, Tracfone for $25 a month. Never any issues. I enrolled for a fixed rate with my electric bill, $79 a month. Budget and save every 2 week's. Limit unnecessary spending. I use baking soda for laundry. I also pay ahead on bills so I don't live paycheck to paycheck. No car payment. Plan ahead! Live debt free! There is no need to live too extreme as it is hard to sustain but be practical. Much love Pepper Princess❤

Car insurance.. in a wreck that is your fault, liability (required in most states) covers the other car and occupants (but not yours… full coverage includes fixing your car and your medical)

We were selling a fishing boat, priced at 12,000. The prospective buyer came and counted out 11,800 in cash and then said, gees, I must have miscounted, So my husband said, well, go get the extra money or I will sell it to someone else. And the guy checked his pockets again and found the $200. I wanted to slap the guy. My husband had assumed the guy was just trying to do that, so he wasn’t surprised. But I was. People can be awful.

Soap nuts also called soap berries are amazing and one $7 box I’ve had for 7 months and I’m only halfway through them. If I wash a really gross load I add a tablespoon of All Clear. I do have an HE machine. Also in the dryer I use wool balls and my clothes come out soft and bonus the clothes dry faster saving power and time.

I raise my own chickens and sell the eggs. They basically pay for themselves. I planted a grapevine and now make my own jelly from it.

Have not had cable TV over 30 years. I refuse to purchase satellite TV or any subscriptions. Like you I have set prices for things and will not pay certain prices. I don't watch TV anyway. In these times managing money is extremely important and wasting makes no sense to me.

It's possible that folks concerned about saving on laundry are having to use coin operated machines. The prices are outrageous and you can spend almost 20 dollars to do 2 loads and 1 large dryer. The machines run on the minimum amount of time so you have to put some dollars in quarters just to get things dry. There are hand washers that you can get to help wash 5-7 items at a time without tearing up your knuckles. Need a place to hang to dry. Lots of help on KZbin.

Laundry... everyone gets stuck on dang laundry. For 11 YEARS I have been hanging my laundry... in doors. I live in a dry area tho... so it is appropriate for me. I also am clumsy. I spill on my shirts all the time and I don't pretreat. I learned a long time ago... because I tried some stuff... when I bought persil... most of my stains just washed out. Even a $2 or $3 for a used shirt... loosing 10 a year to stains covers my expensive detergent costs... so for me it was cheaper. Again, that is me in my specific circumstances. I mean I did the whole make your own detergent thing... and I come out way ahead this way. I extreme couponed for detergent and didn't pay for it for years... because of clothing loss... I still come out ahead instead of buying replacement clothing. I actually wear my clothes out now or get a hole in them... or several. LOL Never used to happen before. If you read this far and say... just pretreat... um no. I am disable. I need it as close to one and doen as possible. I actually ran the numbers on using a dryer 6 years ago. About a $1 a load here. Even the cheapest rates have doubled here... so $2 a load min. You have to check the rates where you are. If there is a number... I will run it. LOL My current plan is 12.79¢/kWh 5-Year Fixed Electricity. Regulated rate was over double the cost.
