How Control-IQ Technology Works on the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump

This video provides a brief overview of how Control-IQ™ technology works with your t:slim X2™ insulin pump to help manage your diabetes on a day-to-day basis by predicting and helping prevent both highs and lows. The video explains how Control-IQ advanced hybrid closed-loop technology is designed to help increase time in range (3.9-10 mmol/L)* using Dexcom G6 CGM values to predict glucose levels 30 minutes ahead and adjust insulin delivery accordingly; including delivery of automatic correction boluses† as needed.
*As measured by CGM
† If glucose values are predicted to be above 10 mmol/L, Control-IQ technology calculates a correction bolus using the Personal Profile settings and a target of 6.1 mmol/L and delivers 60% of that value. It will do this up to once per hour as needed.

Has been such a learning g curve for me. Was on MDI for three years. None of my basal and bolus calculations work. Had to lower basal from 1U/hr to 0.6u. Changed bolus calc from 1:6 to 1:10. Crazy. Not sure if temporary or these are new calculations going forward. Am using Lyumjev insulin so maybe that has something to do with it.

Thanks for reaching out, Jane. Tandem pumps and cartridges are only indicated for use with Novolog and Humalog U-100 insulins. The safety and efficacy of other insulins have not been established for use with Tandem pumps. If you use another insulin that has not been approved for use in your pump and you begin experiencing persistent issues that can be attributed to insulin compatibility, we can’t guarantee the effective operation of your pump. Can you set it to stop extended bolus when predicted glucose is going under 3.9? That freaks me out.

Hi Donovan, to cancel an undelivered portion of the bolus, tap "X" next to BOLUS on the Home screen, then tap to confirm canceled bolus.

Great question. No, the t:slim X2 pump can be used as a stand-alone insulin pump.
