I believe the reason why Cartman can remember Kenny's death is because when he drank his ashes that one time part of his soul bonded into cartman's essence so he's able to remember it because part of Kenny is still in him and part of the reason why Kenny became such a better person as time went on is that he left more of his evilness inside Cartman

This theory is flawed because Cartman mentioned that Kenny dies all the time in the episode Cartmanland in season 5, and he drank Kenny's ashes in A Ladder to Heaven in season 6. He had an eye transplant using Kenny's eyes in Succubus in season 3 though so maybe that could be the reason.

@@rebesim This is also false as in season 2 episode 7 "City on the edge forever", where they are all trapped in the bus, they tell eachother stories from their past adventures. And Cartman mentions one where Kenny dies and he does include the fact that Kenny died, but everyone disagrees cus they state that it's impossible for Kenny to have died at that time because he just died by the monster.

Kenny shows some heroic tendencies in early south park as well! in cartmans mom is still a dirty sl*t he electrocutes himself to bring power to the hospital, and in rainforest schmainforest he jumps in front of his new girlfriend kelly to make sure she doesn’t get shot. the way he’s so quick to sacrifice himself for others shows that he already had a kind, heroic nature, but also foreshadows him being aware that he would come back after dying and therefore not being as afraid of it

Timmy's also aware of Kenny's deaths since he gave Jimmy an orange parka to try to get him killed. Stan and Kyle were also aware at one point since when Kenny died from eating an entire bowl of antacids they remarked "That was a good one." I try to explain away the inconsistency with the headcanon that the curse used to make it take longer for people to forget, but every time Kenny dies people forget faster and faster to the point where currently it happens almost instantly.

Yknow what is the funniest thing about this trilogy? It really shows us Cartman at his absolute worst. He never did something as bad as controlling Ctuhulu or mass genocide. But it seems like no one really cares that he actually controls a fucking Ctuhulu. "Scott Tennerman must die" is no where near close to this. And for a right reason - that episode really did changed Cartman, was his first truly evil deed. But.... Ctuhulu, guys

counter point: cartman is a kid, and doesnt fully understand the meaning of death. The closest he has ever gotten was kenny's "real" death, and even then, the emotions were a facade for a selfish goal. controlling ctuhulu for genocide? just play, part of his super heroes/ super villains game. Scott tenerman? A level of emotional damage that shows he knows exactly what he is doing when it comes to causing as much harm as possible to his victims. The pain cartman inflicts through physical acts is always shallow in nature, but scott was different. Scott was "i will leave you alive so you can forever be scarred by my plot. Death? that is too easy and you wont have to live with the consequences. Cannibalize your own parents? now you know to NEVER mess with me, EVER, and you have become an example of my authoritah."

Even if he did act childish with Ctuhulu, that doesn't mean that he didn't said him to kill those people. But the second part is not that bad. It is horrible what he did to Scott, yes. But what will court hate more: genocide or death of 2 people and completely breaking the psyche of one guy? No matter how inhumane were his actions in Scott's episode, 2 deaths is much less than idk how many were killed from that trilogy.

I doubt the Cartmanland line is still relevant to this day, since they weren’t sure about Kenny’s character and he was still a plot device/gag before being fully considered one. It really makes me wish that the show thought about all his characters since the beginning so we could’ve had a lot more of Kenny back in the early seasons. Because the early seasons all the boys are just an entity with a hint of personality to distinguish them but they were just « the kids ». The three others got developed a lot more though because they weren’t gags like Kenny, but the show wasn’t that deep before it was just for ish and giggles, since Mattrey thought the movie would be the end of the show.
