I was employed for 2 years as a housekeeper in a college coed dormitory. They were the worst 2 years of my life. College students are absolutely the nastiest people to clean after on a daily basis. During the holidays and especially at year end when they leave for summer vacation, they leave behind a years worth of filth. The student apartments were absolutely destroyed because of parties night after night. The worst I've seen was cleaning vomit from the water fountains on Monday mornings after a weekend of partying. They don't pay housekeepers enough to put up with this level of filth.

it just simply sucks being a janitor. It’s not fun to clean up shit and piss covered floors. It’s not fun to have people treat you like you’re below them (job wise you are), it’s not fun to literally sweep and mop for a paycheck. I never found one janitor that said they genuinely like cleaning, it’s more just that’s where there mental capabilities are or physical capabilities. But there’s a lot of janitors that genuinely like working as a janitor, not the whole cleaning part but more like they’re in a good atmosphere with good people that really do respect them. I worked as a janitor too, for quite some time through my teenage years and early 20’s but I couldn’t man. Have been sick during winter as a janitor for a bit and yes I do wash my hands.

Have you ever rented and paid your own bills? This is literally a landlord's wet dream. Back in my college days, if we moved out with one speck of dust we didn't properly clean ourselves, the landlord would've deducted "8 hours of extraordinary cleaning service at $25/hour x 6 workers" from our initial security deposits - obvious fraud but what can you do? I mean, this house is definitely an extreme and I feel bad for the cleaners. But no sympathy for the landlord since they're 100% turning a profit on this job.

You all have to live together and having mould appear on plates and cups and just left there is not selfish to at least challenge. It’s a possible health risk for everyone in the household. The fact professional cleaners had to come out in my example says all you need to know about the mess. The stupid thing is, I had to pay for other people’s mess, that isn’t fair in the slightest. I used to live in student housing and that’s exactly what they did for us. I’m a clean person anyways so I didn’t have anything to worry about. Living like this causes damage to the property. Either the tenant has to pay hundreds of dollars in cleaning fees or the owner has to pay the money for it. In some cases tenants can be sued for damages. So it’s in everyone’s best interest to not live like a nasty pig.

This is what I thought in my halls house. No one cleaned, I took out the rubbish every two days cause people would throw it in and it would overflow on the floor and i was like... DO THEY REALLY LIVE LIKE THIS AT HOME? I cried when I got a complaint from the landlord cause I cleaned everyday and mopped the floors and i usually come down 2 hours later to turn out the lights and it would be a total mess again.
@Ahrysa4 жыл бұрын
Its almost impressive that they managed to do all this in a semester/year. People at my dorm always left food in the halls so the cleaners started fining us. Even then other students couldn't seem to understand why I swept up my section of the hall smh. Just because its their job doesn't mean we need to make it bigger for them.

I was a student in Aberystwyth and I can tell you when sharing accomodation you quickly get fed up of cleaning up from other people. Best thing I did was moving a few miles out of the town and renting my own property. If you are a student and looking at living with other people DONT unless you constantly want to clean up their spilled milk in the fridge, mountain of dirty dishes and constant scum in the shower, look for your own place in a 10 mile radius of what ever area you are studying. If there is a party at someones place chances are you'll be able to stay until early hours and catch the first bus home. (if you are the type of dirty basterd who leaves the place like this maybe you should study the art of cleaning up after yourself)

Sophie Benjamin yeah it can but darker colours don’t really cause much damage and you can get semi permanent too, I do colour my hair from time to time because I had alopecia and it helped to make the thinning and bald patch (top front of my hair line and head) look thicker but I only go like 4 shades darker than my natural colour. It’s not for everyone though but it can help you feel a bit better and fresher too.

I never lived like this but I can relate to the minor shock of the work it takes living on your own to keep a clean place. It has taken me about five years of moving in and out of places to notice the little things that become dirty that you wouldn't expect like the bathtub and base boards through out the house. If you want a spotless home in move-in condition at all times, it requires a lot of work...even when living alone.
