Kudos all round.Jack and Lilly's relationship looks so good. I had no idea how to talk to women when I was that age. All-male boarding schools from age 9. We moved to different cities and countries every two or three years (military). All-male college at university and 2 out of 300 female engineering students in my year. Women were strange, but very interesting and wonderful creatures and I didn't know how to talk to them. I think that it's wonderful that two young people can be so open about their feelings for each other.

Short story time.... When I was his age I was actually in love with this girl, blond hair, blue eyes, great body and most importantly an amazing personality, I'm 31 now and have never felt that feeling since. So basically I lived and worked in France and she lived in the UK she would come over once a year with her dad for 2 or 3 weeks. I'd be so so happy the months running up to it and when she got there you couldn't get us apart. When she left it was horrible it truly was, it's sad to say but I was like a lost sick puppy. This went on for 5 years ish and in the end it just couldn't work out. With the knowledge I have now I'd do things alot differently. I just hope they don't suffer like I did because it looks like they may be soul mates. Your parents are awesome for doing this even tho they know they will have 2 miserable teens to deal with in a week or so 😂 I hope they get their own boat in a couple of years and make a KZbin channel about them sailing around the world, that would be pretty amazing. Loved the video! I'm also a sailor, I live on my boat and am planning on sailing the world, just want to find the right person to do it with. Not many girls in the UK are into this lifestyle.

24:07 - "....not fair...." LOL! Oh the joys and pains of full time cruising. Jack, long distance relationships are tough but worth it. My wife and I dated for a little over five years and most of it was long distance. And it was back in the days before email and video chat. For two and a half months the only communication we had was what ever we could fit on a one page fax once per week. Being apart like that can help you to get to know the other person better than if you were together. As for me and my wife, like I said we dated for over five years before we got married. And that was 22 years ago. So don't fret it too much. Yes it sucks being apart but in the end you'll be better off because of it. (It also has the added bonus of making it super easy for me to take a trip with the guys or a solo vacation from time to time.)

I also admire the operational excellence that is demonstrated through the many things that occur each day. Keith's ability to manage engines, generators, sails, routes etc is exemplary. I speak from my experience starting as a radar technician in the Air Force, then a computer technician in the phone business and owner of many large RV's which we would drive from Canada to California and back each year. You have to accept that you need to survive what ever occurs on the road or, in your case on the seas because there is no one else who is going to deal with those issues while you are out there. Bravo and well done. Be safe and have fun!!

I sailed long passages w three of my four boys. Their mother refused to go. She said she did not want to be more than three miles from land. I tried to tell her that we were never more than three miles from land; it’s just that the land is straight down! I spent months w my boys. I cherish those memories and I’m proud that I equipped them with so very many skills and an opening of their view about what life could offer and how big the world is and how to be comfortable exploring. All the things you are giving your beautiful children. Makes me a bit weepy thinking of those days. With my youngest when he was 11 we fought two named storms and I taught him how to dive. He was magnificent. My third son went w me from Chesapeake to Virgin Gorda. He was nine at the time. I never had to say one corrective word to him. He was magnificent too. These experiences are invaluable. Your videos bring it back’ for me. I’m old now. And, contrary to the old saw, the memories do keep me warm at night. I can remember even the sensations. One thing. At night no one was a,lived out of the cockpit but me and we were all tethered in and at night we wore serious life jackets and a waterproof light. Even during the Dayan passage we wore the inflatables. I spent many months single handing and always wore an inflatable and on passage when alone I was always tethered. I still have friends I met on those passages. Dear friends. Exotic friends like no one I would have met at home. As I think about those days they were like fertilizer. So much more came to me after those days, because of those days. Have you thought about writing a series of children’s books about your adventures. Like the videos. But illustrated and kid like. You can hire illustrators and writers. You have the storied. The trick is to realize that there are stories you don’t necessarily see because you are adults. Sane events. Different stories. I remrmbet being fascinated by adventure stories. That’s what the slant is. Adventure. And the attainment of powers.as you are confronted with challenges and use your inventiveness (and, sometime does, courage) to overcome the challenge. What you’re doing-with your children-is a goldmine of material. You Judy have to cut and sew it. You have the material.

Starting seeds is difficult in perfect conditions, yet alone out at sea. Try cutting a good sized sprig of cilantro and rooting it in a glass of water on a sunny window sill. Once a good clump of roots form, transplant it in new potting soil that doesn't carry any old mold or bacteria from previous plantings. Remember, new transplants dry out easily from wind or strong sunlight, so limit its time on deck. Gradually adding an hour every day on deck will help it survive. Good luck! Love the videos. - Frank from Illinois

Hello to the hole Zatara family. I been watching all your videos for the last days now. Its such a joy and emotional raid to follow your journey from the start to today. First off all i have to say to Renee that the videos you make are awesome. Beautiful pictures and the right music to follow. It has been and are great to follow your journey from your home in USA to the world. All the new things to learn, and all the small moments that you will remember for life. It is so great that you show how it really is. It is not sunshine outside and inside for a family every day. Things on board can brake, and it can brake for the mother and fathers some days. We have 2 adult sons now, but we have discovered the world with car and airplanes. We stayed abroad for a half year when the boys was young, and we still talk about the adventure we had. To have this time alone without the daily-life standing on the outside of your door is special. To have time to bound as a family is such a gift in life. You as a family have to trust each other and stand together to meet the world, that you are doing on a boat. Its the best rope you can have. I look forward to follow you in the future and see the new days to come. I wish Jack all the best in life right now. Who dont remember the time when you were young and finally meet the love of your life. To have the possibility to have this weeks together, travelling with the family is just something you never forget. I wish you all some beautiful days and hope you get help for your stones Keith. That hurts. I follow you on the map, and look for new videos. Best wishes from Jan in Norway

I worked in the oilfield as a young man. The very best advice when ropes are wild is to keep your feet flat on the deck, shuffle around. Never pick up your foot and you have a lot higher chance of not getting tangled up. The catheads on those 25k ft drilling rigs had insane power. They worked very much like your winches, but at about 1000 times more power.

Thanks so much to each of you for sharing your amazing journey so we can escape with you for a few minutes. AND have a good laugh. Y'all are so funny! If you have more seeds to try, get rid of the mold on the soil and find something to use as a dome over the planters, like the top of a plastic bottle or plastic wrap or even an overturned and secured glass jar, making a mini greenhouse for the little seedlings. When you plant them water them w a little warm water then keep covered w that plastic for sev days to around a week AFTER they have popped up through the soil. They should stay damp and dewy under there. And hopefully they will be stronger. Just mist the soil lightly when you uncover them for the first few weeks and try to keep them out of the direct sun and weather till they get bigger. Best Wishes and much love from Texas to the Zatara Crew!!

Hi Z Gang. I have been following you guys since the beginning and your right up there with Jay Leno cause I'm an old car buff myself and a very good mechanic, Keith. First of all it's great for Jack to finally meet his girlfriend Lillie I think? But Renae I thought I would give you my take on growing plants. I can do this with certainty because I grew up on a farm and always had a green thumb. The next time you are out traveling around keep your eyes open for a farm preferably cattle and somewhere there the cows will mingle and take shelter. All there poop and them working it into the ground over the years that dirt becomes high in nitrates and microbes. The microbes break the food down for the plant. But now for the next step which the crew will not like but very necessary. Put your dirt which should be black and old and hard to make mud. So when your looking put some water on it and take a handful and squeeze it. If the water comes out of the dirt and it fluffs apart in your hand you found what you're looking for. Put your dirt in cake pans and use some water from some swimming hole or falls and keep it for watering your plants I'm retired water well driller and some think im pretty good at it so I know WATER inside out. Catch rainwater will work. Put the pans in the oven and bake the dirt to 185 F. Be accurate with this cause 20 degrees hotter could start killing your microbes. Use a cooking thermometer. This will create a smell that nobody will like but this kills all the things in the dirt that you don,t want living in there. Make sure the dirt is still most to the touch when you take the dirt out of the pans. At this point, it does not stink anymore. Now you have made your self some excellent potting soil that you can't buy. The rest you can figure out. I don't really know how this youtube and computers and smartphones work im afraid im ignorant in that field. But if you know how to reach out to me I might be able to help you and your Kieth man something he may not know about diesel engines. the mechanics don't want you to know. One more thing pick up a small jar of 20 20 plant grow for tomatoes. I'll write one for Kieth. I wish you all well and happy days and sail safe.

Hey Zatara! the rain water is more PH balanced for plants and has nutrients absorbed from the atmosphere! You guys may need mineral supplements more often than most because you intake so much distilled/desalinated water. Water with no ionized minerals pulls minerals out of your body.

Another great episode. Wow..I know you work hard, but I sure hope you just sit and think about the awesome experiences that you are having with each other every single day..so wonderful to watch. Jack looks good with the buzz job hair cut. Lilly is a true delight really articulate, mature and it is cool to see the way they look at each other. Please hire a full-time shooter/editor and give us an episode every two days. I will make myself available tomorrow! You are the best!

Another easy recovery if you lose one sheet on a headsail or spin is to tack or gybe onto the other board. You can then trim it all the way in and re-attach the lazy sheet, then tack or gybe back onto your original course. No drama, safe, and takes very little time.

Such great videos! Loved seeing the young love between Jack and Lilly, and the family team work from everyone. As young newlywed liveaboards, this makes us excited to have kids, do some cruising, and spread the workload, haha! Keep up the great videos, ya’ll!

Do u guys ever get scared about the boat tipping or going over board?
@cobalt25064 жыл бұрын
They are probably very strong swimmers and I’m not sure a boat like that would tip easily, but I don’t know much about larger boats I’m a topper sailer, not very experienced.

After cilantro bolts or goes to seed, you can use the seeds as coriander which is one of my favorite things to sprinkle on everything!

Love seeing the small mishaps just to watch you all in action. Seems like Anna gets to the wheel and Jacks always quick to help Keith. The rest are there to help anyway they can. Great family dynamics it seems. Wish you all the best in your future travels. Love the vids.

Cilantro is a shade plant, just a little sun each day. My family garden had a horrible weed problem. Every week those weeds came in. Then one day someone from Mexico came by and gave a yelp when she saw me weeding--"that's cilantro!'. It did best where the string beans shaded it.

You should try planting culantro it's almost the same smell as cilantro but it's a little stronger when it starts growing it grows a stem in the middle and that's them has seeds at the ends so you can replant them again they're awesome

Rene, don't feel bad. Cilantro is difficult to grow on land. Before becoming a cruiser, I always had a garden and cilantro kicked my butt every time. Nothing beats fresh cilantro...but we have found the stuff in the tube to be an okay substitute when you need something a little more fresh than the dried herb.
