Tariffs are desperately required to start lifting the standard of living in the US, and then in the western world.

The standard of living in the US is stable and better here than most other countries otherwise no one would want to come here. Tariffs will raise our inflation (increase costs) not lower it, creating a worse standard of living. Protectionism eventually results in wars, trade wars in the beginning. The large tariffs Trump says he will do:60% on china and 20-25% on the rest, if indeed he does that much. Lots of fruit and vegetables come from Mexico and Canada so basic food will go up. Wheat and bread already went up more than other items because they come from Russia and Ukraine and Canada. (Supply chain shortages and war). Cars and car parts are largely imported meaning those will increase with those tariffs Trump proposes. US doesn’t make shoes or clothes, that will take a long time to produce here, though tariffs could mean that changes it won’t happen quickly. The real issue needing to be addressed is monopolistic pricing in real estate and large food chains-that will only get worse unchecked.

It's not just corporate greed. Our government safety net programs are structured to keep people in poverty. Most programs are not sliding scale. The programs which have a sliding scale are completely unrealistic. I am on a program that has cliff income and asset limits which are so low that there's little chance I'll ever get out of poverty. I somehow have to magically raise my income to twice the cap within 12 months. It's insane. If Democrats want to win back the vote of the poor, let's start there! Restructure the welfare programs so people can realistically get out of poverty.

I absolutely abhor the terms pro-life and pro-choice, as if there is nothing in the middle. I'm not pro-choice, I'm pro-freedom of exercising ones agency without fear of serving prison time. I'm not pro-life, I'm pro-providing for the enhancement of the lives of single mothers. Republicans want to save the babies, but not take care of the mother and child once it's born. Democrats don't have the spine to tell women that getting pregnant has consequences and abortion cannot ever be used as a form of birth control. Not before conception or afterward. Preventing ovulation is one thing. Destroying a fertilized egg is another. It's clear that when life begins needs to be codified by law. There can be no ambiguity about it. At the moment, the only official statement is that live or still birth are the only options. Life does not officially begin until a baby is born alive. If we're ever to permanently deal with the abortion issue, that's what needs to be addressed. Make a national law that declares when exactly life begins.

I disagree with 95% of the things Murphy said. And he flat out lied about Pete - he is not an alcoholic. Republicans seem to be the only people these days that do believe in the rule of law. I just got so disappointed by listening to everything that man said. What a horrible misleading picture to paint !

Don't you need to have a mountain of specialized law enforcement training to run the FBI? It is a very sophisticated, high-tech spy organization. One needs to work their way up into that.

The position of FBI chief is not a place for on-the-job training. It's not like becoming a plumber. The FBI is critical to national security, and one of the reasons America hasn't had another 9/11. If we're lucky, the Senate will prevent DJT from installing an amature who happens to be a loyalist.
