Sometimes I become very depressed by the state of the country/world today. Then a story like this comes about and I realize the bad times won’t last. There’s hope in history

Does this "history" include those Americans who have converted to Islam ?? I learned about Islam from an American Israeli friend who is married to an American woman raised Christian , they are both converts to Islam. My daughter's college degree from American University in DC is Arabic Language and Middle East History, she also attended American University of Beirut. I learned much from her studies as well. Islam has given my life a deep foundation of stability and inner strength. Thank you at Al Jazeera for always varied and in depth reporting .

There is another very interesting story of an Afghan man who went to the US, Wyoming and those areas, in the 1800s and was part of a chain of tamale sellers, had his own restaurant, invested in the stick market, got US citizenship, then was denied the citizenship bc he was not white. His whole town fought for him bc they liked him so much. To this day his statue is in that part of the US (Montana?) and his descendants now own several hotels and business in that town. Very interesting story if you want to cover it.

A bit hyperbolic when the word “shape” is used then transferring into a discussion on a mosque. We are not discussing the shaping of a community but of a nation. What laws..inventions…movements…amendments…infrastructure was forged?
