“ocean eyes” is the debut single from then 13-year-old Billie Eilish. She posted the song on SoundCloud where it organically went viral, generating over a million plays. Billie: [My brother] came into my room in October of last year to tell me he had this song called “Ocean Eyes.” He’d been doing it with his band before, but of course I’d heard it because I was right next door. I sang it, and we both loved it. It’s just a beautiful song, and [my brother] Finneas is an amazing writer. I loved it and I couldn’t get it out of my head for weeks. I’m in a dance company, and one of my teachers asked if I could record [the song] and send it to him so he could choreograph a dance. So all of the production is based off of lyrical contemporary dance.

"watch" and "burn" --burn is pretty much a remix with vince staples.. but the song "watch" is talking about "i'll sit and WATCH you car BURN." So they used "& Burn" as the title for the remix

Also some other artists I think you should check out : FKA Twigs, FKJ, The Internet & Melanie Martinez ( she is a concept artist so you have to go in order from beginning to end first album to current).

The male voice harmonzing with billie in "hostage" is her brother/producer Finneas. He's also a singer and has a few albums out. He has a new one coming out in october. It's titled "for crying out loud." He dropped the title song/video a few days ago if you're interested. Hostage..billie is singing some grown up shxt..but she was underage lol.. so yeah 😆

Because you asked: "Watch" and "&burn" (like in watch and learn) are 2 versions of the same song. Billie liked the "&burn" version better and Finneas the other one. So they both ended up on the album.

Man..she was so young for this album. Younger than 16. Finneas and Billie write songs together. But i'm gonna go out on a limb and say that in these early days that Finneas did the bulk of the writing. Nothing against billie, but billie has said it herself. She has said that Finneas is so good at writing songs and that she HATED writing songs. She was actually jealous of how well of a writer Finneas was/is. In the documentary there's even a clip of billie talking to finneas and her mom about how she hated writing songs and how finneas was so good at it. But fast forward to now? Billie has been writing more and more and actually enjoys writing, but still finds it a little hard to express herself in song..and finneas helps her with that. It truly is a team effort. 50/50. Billie and Finneas are both talented on their own. But together? It truly is magical.

Ocean Eyes, 13/14. It was written by Finneas for his band ( The Slightlys) but thought it would sound better with Billie’s voice. They recorded it for a dance class of Billie’s ( you can find the dance video with Billie on YT). Six Feet Under , Bitches Broken Hearts only singles. This album 15. Written, recorded, produced in her brother’s bedroom . Watch and Burn are the same song. Finneas preferred the original version and Billie preferred the one with Vince Staples - so they both made the EP.

Come on over to the billie fanbase brother. I'm a dude in my 40's and i've been a superfan of billie since late 2019. Seen her live 2 times. Once in 2022. Once in 2023. Will be seeing her live again in November for this new album/tour.
