First date with my wife, we had dinner, saw a movie, walked in the park, fell asleep on a park bench, and then watched the sunrise together. We then went to have morning coffee and breakfast and talked for few hrs. It was saturday and niether of us had work or wanted to part ways. We ended up at her place and took showers (separately) and then sat on her couch talking and watching movies. Eventually her friends invited her to dinner and she asked me to come with her. When she introduced me they asked if I was her boyfriend and before I could respond she took my hand and said yeah. I ended up crashing at her place on the couch(no sexy times), and we went to church the next morning. At lunch we were talking about us. We confirmed we were dating, and at some point, I blurted out that I wanted to marry her, and she said yes! We got the marriage license a week later and had a very small ceremony with only about 25-30 people and moved into her place because it was bigger than mine. We've been married for 10 years and have 2 kids with another on the way.

@CaptainDV
@CaptainDV 2 ай бұрын
@mikel2976 we're pretty compatible, but love is a choice. One we both decided to make. It's a choice you have to make every day. Marriage isn't about compatibility it's about sacrifice, being there for each other, and building a life together. We didn't fall in love in 3 days. We found the person we wanted to marry in 3 days. We decided to love each other. Everything followed after.

I don’t believe in love at first sight, except that it happened to me. We saw each other across a room and sought each other out. We had each found our fellow nerd. Both our families knew we would marry after the first family meetings. My husband took me home to meet his parents after 10 days. It was like coming home. 25yrs married 😊 and still crazy about each other.

Yeah still don't believe in "love at first sight". Most people, including you, are confusing lust at first sight with love. You don't simply look at someone and know everything about them and immediately emotionally connect with them. That's not what true love is. It transcends the physical.

My husband and I were next door neighbors for 2ish years when we were 2-5 years old, lost contact for 12+years, literally knew nothing about each other (we did go to elementary together but opposite schedules & played in same sports leagues but never saw each other). He saw a Snapchat of me on his friends phone when we were 19, we went on a date & after that first date we knew we’d be married. 7 years later of marriage, we have two kids & are the happiest we’ve ever been. My life felt like it started when we met each other again.

It’s true that you will know your right person when you see them. I met my husband when I was hanging out at the mall with friends. Our mutual friends were dating and we just happened to be with them. (We had never met before) They ended up ditching us and we just walked around and sat on the furniture in Macy’s. He looks at me and says “would you like this couch for our house when we’re married?” I just looked at him and said “sure!” And we’ve been together ever since! 14 years married august 22. And 17 years together. We’re best friends and we can’t imagine life apart. We met at 19 and 20, we’re 36 and 37 now with 2 kids. People used to say not to get married young but I think it doesn’t matter what age you meet, you will know your other half immediately. (At least I did) ❤

I don't know if I believe in that. If you do believe that, I'm guessing you have never really been in love before meeting your husband. because I thought I had found the right person, I was totally convinced we would be great together...and we WERE...but -plot twist- she was hiding information from me, and was technically married the whole time (but claims she didn't think that marriage would count legally). It's a long story and it deals with long-distance dating someone in another country. (and Yes, I met her in person on 2 different trips). TL;DR= my point is: you can have the feelings, but the person can be misleading/deceiving you the whole time. Not to mention, I don't believe there is only person destined to be your soulmate either. Only God knows that and I believe God can bless ANY marriage as long as God is involved as an authority in said marriage

I have been with my husband 37 years, married for 35. That is not at all how I felt. I was young and he was fun...and older. I had never dated someone more than a year older than than me, before him. I was dating someone else when I met him...dated both of them for a while, about 6 months. They both knew it, I never lied to either one of them. My "hubby to be" grew on me slowly. I had zero interest in settling down..I most certainly did not know when I saw him. I was having fun....boys were entertaining 😂. They did nice things for you and took you places. My long term plan as far as dating, was as long as what I was doing with who, the next weekend. 🤣. But by about 6 months, I knew I had to pick him and see where it would go. He knew much sooner than I did, but he was patient with me. A little less than a year later we were engaged. Best decision I ever made, but it certainly was not, love at first sight....or I knew right away type thing.

I had no idea who she was and no idea how I would meet her but I knew. Then I forgot about that and about 2 years into my marriage I saw that same magazine on my brother's end table and saw her picture on the cover and everything rushed back and I just about started to cry. @demigadrey8961 what? There is a lot of space between " short broke and shy" and " hot and tall." The point is , she is only talking about all that is not a confidence and so on to sound a good , but they're plenty of guys around her that are confident and yet she's not choosing them. There are a lot of guys who are much taller than a woman.And not broke and in fact maybe you all off and not shy but they're just not tall and handsome enough. Yes , I am an example because I have no problem getting women everwhere else in the world. I am able and do travel multiple times a year around the world going to find out. In fact I lived over seas for years and have two businesses before coming back to the usa for work in my current industry. I had two great girlfriends overseas, one of which was college educated and the other whose family owns multiple businesses. Men are not the problem. The problem is that women are told that love is about these superficial.Things that make you feel good. Because actual good relationships built on the traits.That will make a good father and husband takes sacrifice. Or settling down as women today call it. Because it will mean they may not get one of the top ten percenters.

I met my husband in the drive thru of the McDs I worked out. He asled me out but I had a BF and he would respectfully ask me out every few months. (Small town and McDs was the only breakfast place open thay early, he lived 2 blocks away). The day after I dumped my BF my sister asked my husband if he was going to ask me out. We went out the same day he asked and we celebrate our 15 year anniversary next week. ❤ I tell the youngins all the time "you never know where you'll met your person!"

I'm not a bar or nightclub kind of person. Where else am I going to meet people lol. Well, some guy started working at the same place as me, we became friends almost instantly, there was a connection right away. We we're friends for 4 years, and when he left for basic training and wasn't in contact with him for 8 weeks is when I knew I had feelings for him. Now we are married and couldn't be happier.

This has happened to my mother and happened to me as well. Mom met dad at work and instantly told her co-worker that is the man she is going to marry. I thought "I will marry this man" seconds after meeting my now fiance. Jordan Peterson has said Nature chooses and women are nature. There is some truth to that. But we didnt even speak at first lol. After a week or so of texting a lot, he was my first kiss. But we lost contact. 3.5 years later (2014) this tall rather attractive blue collar dude came through my job. Again. Something about this man I couldnt shake. This happened to my wife and I. Though not through work. We are members of a historical society. I had been involved in for some years. At the beginning of October she started attending weekly meetings for the group. We met and got to know each other a little and I learned she had sewing skills I lacked for making period garments. I asked for help and the last week of that October we worked on a sewing project together. The last weekend being Halloween, I asked if she wanted to go out to some haunted houses. She said yes. We just slotted in together like a hand into a glove. That was a bit over 35 years ago and we have been married for 32.

"Like going home". Now I know I'm not the only one that feels this way when talking about perfect relationship. I remember talking with my friend, discussing what a good relationship should feel like. And when explaining my view on the subject, I remember not being able to express the feeling through words. After some effort to explain, this was exactly the expression that came to my mind too: "for me, I imagine true love and relationship feeling like coming home", - I said. A shame I still haven't come home, and it feels like I never will.

My parents first met on an army base in Japan as young children (like 5 years old) and met again in highschool in a US state that my dad's family never lived in before. They were dating before they realised they knew each other as young children. I thankfully got a taste of that. My husband and I have a 3 year mark of happenstances. I know there’s alot of people that don’t believe in love at first sight, but having experienced it myself, it very much is real for some people. I was on my first day of work at a jewelry store. A couple of guys came in the store, one was looking for an engagement ring, and the other was his friend, and there for moral support. I immediately noticed the friend, and instantly felt that something was very different about him, but I figured that he had to have a girlfriend because he carried himself with confidence without being cocky. A couple of weeks later this guy called the store, and asked if he could speak to me, he wanted to know if it was okay to come in and formally introduce himself, and ask me on a date. Something about the way he said it just felt right to me. We went on a date, and here we are nearly 13 years later, have been married for nearly 11 years, have 4 beautiful children, and have build an amazing life together. Sometimes, it really is possible to instantly know that someone is the right person for you, and it’s unexplainable.

Similar thing happened with my wife and I, though not at first sight. We met 3 years prior but were in different life stages and not ready for each other. Fast forward to a deployment I was on, and she reached out to me towards the end of it, not looking to start a relationship. She was just encouraged by some of what I was sharing on FB about my journey of faith. Little did I know that God had brought us together. The day before she reached out, she had the idea to buy a tie and start praying for her future husband. While for me, the day before, I finally had an epiphany about being content being single and finding my image in Christ, after having gone thru a breakup before deployment and being dissatisfied and discontent the whole time. We were both finally in the right headspace, heartspace, and on the right path of faith. Shortly after we messaged back and forth, I knew she was the one, and the same for her. We got married a year later, and I wore the tie she bought. We are 6 years in with two kids, and love going thru the adventure of life together.

I truly hope it works out for you and your husband. I was asked by my best friend about my opinion on one particular girl at the USO on a Navy Base. I only saw her face and hair and knew I wanted to marry her without ever meeting her or seeing her body. I asked my friend his view on what he expected from her, like a one night stand or long term. So I asked him if it would be ok to ask her to marry me, three months later he was the best man at our wedding and now going on 33 years of marriage with a wonderful daughter aged 31 and my always beautiful wife for all the remaining days I have left, I was so blessed to find the one that you instantly know without any questions, as if God light her face up for,only me to see.

Love this. The same thing happened the first time I set eyes on my husband. I just knew even before we met, this is the guy I'm gonna marry. Our first date lasted ten hours when we only went out for lunch. It just felt right. We even said how comfortable being together felt, as if we'd known one another our whole lives. That was 44 years ago. I wish the same joy and love for Brett and her husband.

To be fair I’m a guy and I’d be intimidated by her success. Most guys want a sweet young lady with a average job at the dollar store or McDonald’s. But she’s very accomplished, especially for her age. So yeah I’d be very intimidated frankly. I think this is fair of her to say because a lot of guys wouldn’t be interested in her because of her accomplishment.

Well honestly I’m a guy and I’d be intimidated by her success. I think it’s a fair point. Next to her I’d feel under accomplished and unworthy. I’d also probably feel like she wouldn’t want to be loving and doting housewife and that she’d want to spend all her time chasing a career. So I completely understand why she says that.

I knew I was going to marry my husband when we first hung out. He came over, we talked like we were friends forever. He kissed me, left and I shut the door and said out loud to myself…I’m going to marry him. 14yrs later and we will be married 10yrs this October

Usually is when you are at that point that you meet someone. Everybody I know has said that's what happens, when you reach the point where you decide to just live your life and not obsess about romance is when someone suddenly comes along. I think it's the quiet confidence aspect of being happy by yourself, when someone's desperately seeking a partner women can smell desperation from a mile away and it's a huge turn off.
