I always liked Earnest. He was a very friendly and charismatic old guy, and a father figure for Tommy. When Tommy said to Earnest "Don't you worry, pop. I'm not angry with you.", it melted my heart, showing that despite Tommy was a crimminal and a very brutal sociopath, he still have some kind of humanity and moral codes to the people that worked for him. I just wished that Rockstar would have made another cutscene with Tommy picking Earnest to the hospital, conversating about Lance's betrayal and even Tommy gaving some extra money to Earnest, for all the pain that he had to suffer for his loyalthy to him.

I think it might be both. Lance always wears expensive clothing, probably to show off and pretend he is more wealthy that he really is. In vice city stories he buys expensive clothing and even properties, getting himself in debt under the belief that he would be able to pay it later with the drugs he and Vic stole. Of course we could say the same about tommy, because tommy unlocks a nice suit at the start of the game... but the reason why tommy used that suit was because Rosenberg told him to show respect at Cortez party, he dressed like that to show respect. Very different from lance who always wears his expensive suit in an attempt to deceive people into thinking that he is wealthier that he really is. So earnest comment refers that if someone is trying to show off and make himself look more successful that he really is... yeah one should be more weary of they guy.

Because Lance is a careless lunatic (especially with how much trouble he caused for his brother Vic Vance in VCS), it shouldnt surpise anyone why he betrayed Tommy in VC. But considering that VCS released 4 years after the original VC, the easiest indication to know that Lance was probably gonna betray Tommy was lack of control. Lance screwed up the Diaz hit and almost got killed in VC (Tommy had to save him in the junkyard). Plus, Tommy had to yell at him a few times in VC for being incompetent. Lance just wasnt very loyal, especially if you tried to discipline him like Tommy did.

I think it's less hatred of authority and more of an inferiority complex. There is one phone call in GTA VC where Lance says something along the lines he is tired of being treated like a kid, and also mentions how Victor treated him the same. He doesn't take accountability for his mistakes or try to work harder and then thinks people just hate on him for no reason. But in reality we actually see they both were 100% fair to him and only scolded him when he was being lazy and even then they put up with him and gave him a second chance. It is strongly implied he was bullied in school, which could explain why he feels this way. Honestly Lance is an extremely underrated character. There is actually a lot of depth to his character, even tho he is a scummy idiot.

Maybe Tommy wasn’t too sociable to figure out who is friendly and who is a deceiving snake. That’s why Earnest called Tommy a naive raging lunatic. He was doing jobs for the Forelli family in the past because he went to that easy leaning path as well as maybe he had a few friends in childhood and looked to the mafia as something he glorified. Lance comes from the unfortunate family with a missing father, a drug-addicted mother who came to pay visit for once and ended up stealing his coke that was ready for sale and then ran off (a moment from VCS), and had to be raised by his aunt instead, and the man of the house was his brother Victor who was always unhappy with him but never left him for personal reasons, but then he died, causing another heap of stress for Lance. This is where we can see that Lance has a mental trauma causing him to have the abandonment issues, and when circumstances press on his wound his subconsciousness responds with a rage that takes action and mutes his reasoning (which is why he went against Diaz alone and got himself nearly killed in the junkyard even though Tommy said multiple times that he wants to take a slow and safe approach at the revenge, and Lance seemed to agree with the idea). Lance is an uncontrollable fool who has caused a lot of problems to everyone who had to deal with him, but he wasn't doing this for fun or just to piss someone off.

I consider Ken to be Tommy's best friend because in many ways he doesn't snitch or do any sort of sneaky plan to get rid of tommy by contacting sonny and tell him that tommy is busy Taking over vice city and he isn't working on getting your money back. instead despite the situation that tommy was in, Ken still stood by his side till the end of the game unlike Lance we can already see how much trouble he caused on both vic and tommy but still throughout the game he's given the underboss role which one of the most responsible jobs in the mafia yet instead of using it to help tommy he uses it for his own cowardly self he doesn't work or even try to help and tommy had every right to yell at him for not working and this sorta effected him in a way where he felt betrayed by tommy even though tommy saved his life at one point.

I think earnest comment about “never trust a man who walk in his pijamas” refers to the expensive suit that lance wears. One needs to remember in what point of vice city stories he starts using an expensive suit and live in a mansion, just when he stole the Mendez coke, he didn’t even sold it, he himself said to victor that he is now in debt with the bank... and then we remember that when he just moved to vice city he specifically moves to a nice apartment and victor even ask where he got the money, and lance says that he told them to send the bill to him. So yeah, what does that tell us? That lance is someone who loves to live a life of luxury, not caring if he really can’t afford it, he is an ambitious man, one that even wear clothes well beyond his budget. Of course one could argue the same of tommy also using an expensive suit and that comment also would apply to him, but remember that he unlocks it in the mission where he goes to an important party, is to show respect at Cortez party that Rosenberg tells him to wear that expensive outfit instead of that Hawaiian shirt. That’s very different from always using an expensive suit to appear richer that you really are. So the comment “never trust a man who walks in his pajamas” refers to never trust a man who tries to appear richer and successful that he really is.

Thirdly, it’s the Forelli Brothers PLURAL in GTA 3, implying someone else besides Mike is still alive. And fourthly, the Forelli’s appear in missions in 3 even after Mike died, implying there’s still someone to lead it, which would have to be Franco, the last Forelli Brother who survived til the bitter end.

Play VCS you see the reality of Lance Vance. Dont forget in the last mission he turns up in the last minute. Lance has never been reliable and most of the missions involved Lance screwing up. Victor treat him as a kid because he was the one that has not matured and was acting a like kid with his screw ups. Makes sense that he will betray because Lance always makes stupid decisions which lead to consequences. Victor Vance was more like a anti hero. He never wanted to be a criminal even joined the army just so Petes medical bills can be paid. Victor Vance said even scorned himself on what he has become even lost the love of his life. If Louise did not die I think victor was gonna get the money take her far away and start a family.

Nice video man! I absolutely loved it. Also, to add to one of the points you made about Lance being in charge of security, there is another definitive proof to this, and that is in the cutscene of the mission "Bar Brawl", where we see that Lance is supposed to handle a problem with The Front Page Cafe, a business in Ocean Beach that is refusing to pay protection. As Tommy sees that Lance is not handling the situation correctly (again, another proof that he was not trustworthy) he goes and eliminates the previous security at the cafe. Just thought i'd add that, I hope this helps with the theories. Take care :)

I liked Earnest and Tommy's relationship. Tommy sees him as a father figure and he opens him up and shows a human side to his character. At first I thought Tommy was an "old, psychotic lunatic that wanted to take over and not care about others" but when he meets Earnest he talks about his past and his childhood and sees his father in him. Tommy also respects him and treats him well and this helps me think of Tommy much better as a character in my mind. To be honest, I didn't always enjoy Tommy as a character, but thanks to meeting Earnest and the print works it showed a human side to his personality and made me take a better look at Tommy's character to where I actually like Tommy a lot more now than I used to. My opinion of Lance has changed over the years, after my brother and I played Vice City Stories, I really started to sour on Lance because Vic had to get his ass out of the fire too many times and Tommy had to do the same a couple of times.

Also what if the Vercetti Gang were made of members of the former Diaz Cartel, defected Forelli mob associates, and maybe out of job former Vance Crime Family members. How powerful would they make themselves to be? Powerful enough to become the dominant gang in Vice City. Heck maybe Tommy would make Vice City similar to what Vito Scarletta did to New Bordeaux in the Mafia 3 ending in if you chose Lincoln Clay to leave town and let Vito live. Would he have made Vice City more family and gentrified tourist city in the south. Would his gang have a criminal monopoly on Vice City? Would the Vercetti Gang keep the peace in Vice City? Lessen the bloodshed if they’re the only gang powerful to keep criminals in line and allow the non criminal civilians live in peace.
@99mrpogi2 жыл бұрын
The vercetti gang members could have also included surviving former members of the cholos and the Mendez cartel, or probably other renegade forelli family members who, like tommy got betrayed by the forellis.

I never thought too much about Earnest’s comments. I took it as meaning Vice City is full of deceiving snakes (Diaz, Gonzales, Donald Love, Mama Juju, Pastor Richards, etc.) Earnest, having lived in Vice City for so many years, had lots of experience with this. Also, Lance left us many hints at his insecurities. Some of these instances happened in front of the boys, and if one thing is true in Vice City, it’s that word gets around.

Someone's incompetent, impatient & immature like Lance never cease to betray people (especially Tommy and his own brother Vic) and I think that he wouldn't be considered to stay loyal to his own Blood Brother (Vic & Pete) and all of his family, friends or anyone

If Vic survived the ambush, and they both became friends with tommy, lance probably won't even betray tommy..
@gftyhify2 жыл бұрын
@@99mrpogi if Vic survived the ambush and Lance still betrayed Tommy Vic would be furious with Lance. It would actually make an interesting ending. In that scenario I think Tommy would kill Lance for his betrayal and he would then be forced to kill Vic because even though Vic would be angry at Lance he would still want Tommy dead for killing his brother so Tommy would have to kill Vic to save himself and then kill Sonny

I always assumed Lance was against Tommy from the beginning, somehow knew he was in the alleyway with the chef (Stalking?), then Sonny somehow gets Tommys new number very early in the game (Lance probably told him he stole his phone). Lance knowing Tommys name before even telling him! Its as if Sonny convinced Lance to keep an eye on Tommy from the start or even set out hoping he dies in the drug bust. Also Lance just keeps showing up, the parking lot where Tommy gets the guns for Guardian Angels, Diazs boat, keeping an eye on the businesses hes setting up. Tommy had a bad feeling about him from the start, Ken stating he never liked him, Lance doesn't pay you in the mission "Death Row" even for saving him and STILL stabs him in the back! Also blaming Tommy on the phone calls for the way hes treating him, lack of accountability for his own fuck-ups

My theory is earnest did live in Vice city before tommy came along You live in a area long enough and if you’ve dipped your toes into illegal business you hear about the organized crime and who was at the top? The Vance brothers Vic being rational Lance as the chaotic was also a commodity that the vance brothers also had a stake in And just like when you get to the top You get careless you get lazy and or cocky and that’s why Vic was gamer ended at the start That’s my theory

In GTA VC there was: -a phone call from Kent Paul saying Tommy got a price on his head -a call from Rosemberg saying someone threatened to kill him and his family Wonder what's that about, you said to pay attention to the storyline but never really uncovered details.
@rayvenkman20872 жыл бұрын
The price on Tommy’s head is probably from Diaz since the phone call is weirdly programmed in when you get it and the latter phone call is likely from Mike Lips Forelli after Cap The Collector when his guys failed to collect the money from the business assets.
@nitrosodium2 жыл бұрын
@@rayvenkman2087 makes sense that the first one is about Diaz. The second one i would say Sonny rather than Mike Lips but anyway ok, it's a Forelli threat for what happened in Cap the Collector.

It still amazes me to this day that there are still fans who defend Lance's betrayal and claim that Tommy treated him like shit since day one. Hell there was even a user who tried to justify Lance jumping the gun by blaming Tommy for being selfish by trying to plan his execution on Diaz carefully instead of killing Diaz right away. Yeah, because anyone who does the sensible thing to take someone out by careful planning instead of by impulse is considered "selfish". This same user even tried to justify Lance being too lazy to get up off his ass to do work and blames Tommy for shouting at him even though Tommy had every right to chastise Lance for his indolence. These fans seem to forget that Vic was the same way towards Lance in VCS, yet no one has a problem with that.

Yeah, also Tommy Vercetti was Emotionally & Physically drained after slaying both Former "Friends", who were gonna kill Him anyway. But Ken Rosenberg somehow survived the Conflict, but didn't betray each other, but They don't work together no more... Also, Earnest is no Cesar, He may realized a lot but proving would be difficult & finding the right opportunity just wasn't there for Earnest. Earnest might of weighing His options at the time too, but probably had to gave in when He gotten beaten up, but didn't quite tell everything out right to Tommy Vercetti, just enough to get Tommy ready for a Gunfight.
