Salam bro Isa. Im Malaysian and 55. I started learning Arabic when i was 22 i.e. around 1986. I already had a good grasp on English before that being a science student. I told myself that to be able to speak the language i have to be among the people who speak it, thus i travelled to Egypt in that year. After 6 months or so studying at the AUC in Cairo i was able to write, read and speak standard Arabic and understand AlQuran 80%. The Egyptian colloqual Arabic is much tougher tough. Long story short, i was able to enrol at the AlAzhar Uni in 1989 and graduated in Syariah Law الحمد لله من جد وجد

I myself memorized the 'Surah Al Mulk' by listening to recitation on my phone and holding The Holy Qur'an on other hand in the early morning prayer simultaneously and it took me roughly two months to memorize it. Allahamdulillah I recite the said surah in my daily prayers.

When it comes to conversational everyday Arabic. Don’t worry you’ll get there. Because you will realise that all the vocab we use in everyday Arabic is originated from the standard Arabic. The words are only pronounced a bit differently depending on the dialect. What you are doing is beyond inspiring (I’m trying to learn Japanese) and watching you work this hard and get this far is very uplifting. Keep goinggg
