It is important to put into perspective that India had been a continuous thriving civilization for atleast the past 10,000 years. It was just in the last 1000 years that we started to fight among ourselves which allowed the external forces to take control. We won way more than we ever lost.

External forces didn't took control because of our internal fig'hting. Where are the Zoroastrians of Iran?? Natives of America ?? Aboriginals of Australia?? Māoris of New Zealand?? They were also att'acked because of their internal conflict?? Those who att'acked themselves had internal conflict (Europeans ) Catholic / Protestant / Eastern Orthodox & many more Isl'am Shia / Sunni / Ahmediyya & 70 more We didn't att'acked them because of their internal conflict.

that's not correct! we had our internal fights Guptas and Mauryas and Cholas all expanding their kingdoms that came with wars. Ashok's kalinga war is famous and lot more this all happened before 1000 AD. Even to if u belief Mahabharat is just an Epic and not real history yet it does depict war between kingdoms to be a very common things in ancient india. It doesnt take anything away from our glorious history but it is wrong to turn a blind eye towards our faults.

@@jigneshsolanki4536 but still during mauryans, Gupta's, cholas no one even dared to attack India. We know what happened with Alexander although they somehow managed to win but had faced a heavy loss so much so that the army had lost its moral and they went back and guess what porus was not even a king of some great rich Dynasty but like a local warlord whereas nandas were much more powerful than porus. Similarly the selucas got defeated numerous times by mauryans, during Gupta's india saw growth in culture, architecture, statecraft etc . Similarly cholas were one among the few dynasties who had large navy and conquered almost entire south east Asia. Problems started when Mohammad ghori came into the scene and people like jaichand took birth in this land

Basically divide and rule was their policy. India not having a central organised power but rather divided several local princely powers fighting among themselves was the problem which the british intervened and worsened and took advantage of.

The real difference was the Universities that came up in Europe. Cambridge and Oxford. The intellectuals contributed in all fields including in warfare. Braitain's rise as a power is directly linked to the Universities that cropped up there. America's rise also corresponds to the Universities. India was once a great power because of Nalanda and Taxashila Universities in India which were the best at that time. Universities act as the back office of powerful dynasties. India should concentrate on building world class Universities if it has to regain it's place as a world power.

Before watching this video, I hope there is mention of Anglo - Maratha battles pre 1857. Otherwise, such videos just try to show us Indians were fools. Battle of Wadgaon Battle of Laswari Battle of Assaye Battle of Delhi Battle of Maharajapura & Punniar Coastal battles of Angres Assaye was hailed by Duke of Wellington as the fiercest battle ever, even ranking it above Napolean war. The British even mu*dered 21 year old Kolhapur Chhatrapati Shivaji IV by 'Boot and the spleen' technique. Not mentioning these battles make it look like India handed over control of this country without a fight. It is a great disrespect to all those sacrifices. Freedom fighters took inspiration from Chhatrapati Shivaji's struggle. Chhatrapati Shivaji was already skeptical about intentions of the Europeans. It is well documented in Adnyapatra.

well made video, as explained colonisation is attributed to multiple factors within or outside India's control - rise of smaller empires which divided India post mughals, rise of European trade, education, corruption, geography, administrative loopholes, no incentive to invest in technology (navy, military) bc we were self sufficient and didn't need to discover and conquer far away lands etc

There is a very subtle or very noticeable western thought on that video rather than an objetive look at colonialisation. For eg. He talks about the battles between Indian kingdoms and the incoming European companies/capitalists as same. Indian armies and royals always followed rules of war etiquette. They will always choose a date time and place away from civilization and during day etc and always a mark of excellence and showcase of bravery. Even poets sat along sidelines to compose poems to record such battles as history. Europeans however had no qualms to bomb and ravage civilian homes and cities where families live and thrive. It is something absolutely vile in world history that the europeans exported everywhere. They will taste their own medicine during the world wars but they have not learned from this.

British weren't the first European power to establish dominance over large portion of South Asia. About 2000 years prior to them, Greeks under Alexander had reached upto Punjab, eventhough he couldn't venture forward. His successors although, ruled large chunks of India for upto 300 years. Most notable of them was Meanander(Sanskrit: Milind) who was loved by his subjects. The difference between Greeks and British was that, Greeks actually settled and mixed with Indians, adopted the religion and spoke the language. Like Indo-Greeks were really a thing. But British, just looted and went. No cultural exchange of any sort(other than butter chicken lol)
@essee3984

Correction: Not 'large chunks'. Parts of present day Pakistan-Afghanistan. The rule was established not by military force but through marriage alliances. The first one being Alexander's military successor Seleucus marrying his daughter to Chandragupta Maurya in exchange of war elephants. The Greeks had realised they can't fight the Mauryas and hence decided the softer ways of diplomatic relations.

@@essee3984 You have confused Seleucid Empire with Indo-Greek Empire. Indo-Greeks did rule large chunks of India, upto Pataliputra(Patna) in East and Gujarat in South, through satraps(Northern, Western and Eastern satraps) You are right, Greeks established relations through marriage alliances. They really wanted to stay, not just loot and go away They were succeeded by Scythians, who too were a white race, albeit not from Europe. Then by the Yuezhi Kushans, who too were Asian white people
