Hey, Wade. Loved this vlog. I sincerely hope River makes a swift and full recovery. Pets, and animals in general, seem to know when they need help, who to trust, and have the ability to hide their pain. Be well River! You too, Wade.

@@Woodswalker1965 Thank YOU, my friend. I'm certain she will be - she has a strong, loving family to take care of her (including entertaining her while confined to crate recovery). You cleaned and treated her wound in the field and minimized exacerbating the injury "in the wild." You also got her to a vet as quickly as possible ... on a weekend. God is good! Be well yourself and take care of _"our"_ canine friend and family member.

River; "Oh dog ! I can't believe I didn't see that broken glass. If he sees me limping he'll freak out and buy me a pair of those stupid dog-boots. OK, try to make it into the tent without limping. I think I'm good, he didn't notice anything's wrong. Oh crap, he saw the blood on my mat. He's looking at my paw and making a face like I'm a sure goner. He's carrying me to the car. Not the Vet, please not the Vet ! For half a treat I'd just dive out the window and be done with it. A dog just can't win nowadays."

I’m sure that’s exactly what she was thinking! Unfortunately all those things came true down to the Vet and the booties. Thanks for the comment 🙏

Your regular videos are “show and tell” style, and I’d say the narrative is more than half the value of the end product, as it reflects experience and sage advice. It seems that these two characteristics would continue in a vlog, so I say go for it. Even if the style becomes a simple one-sided conversation filled with observation, I believe it would be worthwhile. 🫡👍

I do like this vlog style video. Changing it up every once in a while is always good. I’m happy that you cooked on your last camp. I was kinda hoping that you’d do another cooking video. I don’t know why, but I’ve always wanted to cook a jambalaya in the bush. I’m sorry about River. People make me so angry sometimes.

Dog feet are tough as hell. I'd just verify there wasn't any glass in there and watch it for swelling down deep. My boy dog run a piece of fence into his big front pad last summer and pretty much pierced it clear thru. He licked it for a while, I made him stand in iodine wash once or twice when I thought the pad looked swollen, just in case. Healed up fine.
@Woodswalker19653 ай бұрын
I agree dog pads are tough, I was hoping for a good outcome but unfortunately her pad was nearly sliced off. I’ll give an update on the channel later. So glad your boy was ok, it breaks our heart when they get hurt.👍

I enjoy your gear reviews but, while I'm a much older guy that was a Boy Scout and Church camping nut, I have never been a rugged Bushcrafter or survivalist so I don't comment often. One thing that occurs to me is that many reviewers tell us what they like and dislike about "this" item (duh, what else would we expect!), but they rarely compare a half dozen similar products side by side for comparison (like the old "Consumer Reports" magazine tried/tries to do). Those reviews would be far more difficult, time consuming and expensive, but lacking a substantial Bushcrafting experience, I find it difficult to remember what "Joe" said about a similar product, and "Jane" said about a different product that was three years ago and what you're saying about "this" product today. That's more MY own personal problem than a complaint though. I hope you continue your reviews. Oh, and occasional off the top of your head Vlogs are frequently interesting too. We (your viewers) don't have to love every single topic or upload _(nobody is that good!)_ and my interests vary over time too. Forgive us when we fail and, definitely, ignore the trolls! Besides, the algorithms are usually flawed (GIGO), very biased and tend to favor their current advertisers of the moment. Cheers and continue taking us outdoors with you! In the meantime, take care of that beautiful canine girl's paw next to you in your truck! (I despise discarded "trash" of any kind and, especially, broken bottles too.)

I carry "Farnam Sulfodene Dog Wound Care Ointment, Relieves Pain & Prevents Infection For Dog Cuts, Scrapes, Bites and Injuries, 2 Ounce " 3 way ointment in my med kit for my dogs. Then I would ad some gauze and wrap it with ace bandage. 3 way removes pain and helps them quicky
@Woodswalker19653 ай бұрын
Excellent advice, I’ll look into the ointment you described. As soon as I got home I ordered adhesive gauze, breathable and waterproof. So much better than messing with the gauze and tape I had. In the end my combo of large bandages gauze and tape got her home. Thanks again for the advice and an update vid is coming. 🙏

@@Woodswalker1965Also have a look at "Self Adhesive Bandage Wrap - Pack of 12 Assorted Colors, Non-Woven, Breathable & Water-Resistant Vet Wrap for First Aid, Sports Injury, Body Sprains, & Pets (2 Inch Multicolor - 12 Pack) " It sticks as your wrap it makes pretty much for the dog to take it off you can use it on you too.

@@Woodswalker1965Also get a box of "Benadryl Ultratabs Antihistamine Allergy Relief Medicine, 25 mg Diphenhydramine HCl Tablets for Relief of Cold & Allergy Symptoms Such as Sneezing, Runny Nose, & Itchy Eyes & Throat, 48 ct " If your dog is bit by a snake give him/her the proper amount just take the dog into vet and weigh the dog its free. Then right on the box how much to give him. So how does it protect your dog? When a snake bites a dog the throat will swell up and they can not breath and die. Give them the proper amount of Benadryl and it will prevent his/her throat from swelling up keeping them alive as they lay on there side.

@@Woodswalker19651 last thing pick up like 10 Rubber Tourniquet easy to use youtube it and you will see how to use it. They do make a Tourniquet for dogs but it had bad reviews so I went with the Rubber Tourniquet. Something else I have been considering is a harness that goes around the belly to help the dog walk out. I have 2 large German shepards so they are just to big carry. Unless I leave my pack behind and get a pack to carry them out. Dogs are pretty hardy. If you use a Rubber Tourniquet remember you do not want it on for more 2 hours get the dog into the vet asap and fast. The vet would release it to allow blood thru so the limb does not go dead and really but you should not. So that's why it important to move your but if you apply it.
