How did Narrowboat Experience help CruisingTheCut on the Hatton Lock flight on the Grand Union Canal

Always ready to be nice and do a favour for a friend, this week we hopped in the car and raced to the aid of David (aka CruisingTheCut) who was stranded at the top of the Hatton lock flight on the Grand Union Canal.
Come join us as we do a lot of work to get him down the 21 locks on a hot summer's day. He even let Kath steer his narrowboat!

Anybody I've ever met from England takes quite a while to make tea, just so hot on the water, the correct number of tea leaves and then steep the tea just so much to get the proper tasting tea then relax lift a cuppa and have to get the right squint down to make anyone interrupting your tea know they are interrupting one of life's pleasures that we Americans ignore and drink (ugh ) coffee. The first time I observed an English couple on holiday here in the states I thought he was nuts, until I had my first sip. I still think the tea making process is too long but the tea tastes so good when done correctly. Tea bags? Throw the bloke out! And to think I missed all these years by drinking coffee. Cheers!

Great video, I loved it. I’m home after my maiden voyage, 12 days on the canal and the Braunston tunnel which was fine as I was the only boat in the tunnel. We travelled to Gayton and thought about continuing to Stoke Bruerne but as the survey said the bolts securing the engine were tightened to “get you home standard” we thought we’d pushed our luck far enough! Even though it was really cold and the stove is broken and the central heatings unreliable, it was fantastic. The boat is now tucked up in the boatyard waiting for a long list of jobs and a repaint. She’ll be all shiny when we take her out again. And the stove and heating will be working. Thanks for giving me the inspiration to do this.

Its wonderful. We should have taken the cats along - although they hate locks and the car ... so wouldn't have been such a fun day for them! Maybe next time, CC will come help us out on our boat instead then the cats can have the starring roles they think they deserve ;-)

My previous dog Sadie LOVED the car, she got snacks from the drive through at the bank, and Starbucks, etc. my current dog Copeland Eleanor MacBean HATES the car! She is a rescue doggie that was moved around a lot in her first year and we think she was abused. She was very timid but she is doing well now. However, Miss Copeland (named after Stewart Copeland of The Police because she smacks her tail against the floor like she is drummimg) would rather just hang out with dad and watch Star Trek. She says she likes Spock's ears.
