Alice gets so sad when she's the first cat home and sometimes we let her come with us to look for Munchy, and sometimes she is helpful and sometimes not- lol. That's why today we had to leave her inside because we really needed to get going.

Nice thing about these videos is the ability to pause them to look at things. At 6:12, is that a sign someone tossed off the roadway? Looks like a triangular sign with illustration of a traffic signal on it. Hmm, if I was making kites instead of just buying them, that could make a fun pattern for using on a delta kite. At 7:06 while talking tea, looks like a narrowboat mural on concrete wall of highway embankment in background. Briefly at 7:42 is another interesting mural.

Great video - loved the changes of tempo, and I always like the reflection shots. There's always things to do on a boat - in fact, I knew someone years ago who called his boat "Shasta", 'cos shasta have this, shasta have that. (Another just called his boat "Aspro", for largely the same reason.) Incidentally, when you said "stop the video NOW" . . . it stopped - for an ad, but I did briefly wonder what new super powers you may have developed :)

Our cats come running when we whistle. It started years ago with Skizoid, my crazy cat. He wouldn't come when I called him, but he loved it when I whistled. So when it was time to eat, I whistled. The other cats soon learned that a whistle meant food time. He's been gone for years now but the tradition carries on as each cat teaches it to the next. It sure is better than yelling ANNIE and BONNIE at the top of our lungs (we're in a rural area but sound carries). I'm sure you've had tons of advice but I'll give mine. Connect a sound or call or whatever to a treat the cats cannot resist. Do it randomly. Always always always give a reward for it. Once they recognize it, use it to get them to come to the boat. Don't always use it for this, else the "cost" of the boat becomes higher than the "reward" of the treat. So use it randomly when mooring or even just when cruising.
@TheNarrowboatExperience5 жыл бұрын
I think your whistle idea is excellent. I might start this too

Thanks for the trip on the Narrowboat Experience 2.0, it was great (as usual). I'm not a cat expert but logic says that if you give Munchy and Alice a treat after you call them they will learn that when they hear their name there is a treat waiting for them back at the boat and may come home faster. But I have been wrong before. 😀 I really want to order the pins but money is so short when you are on Social Security in the US. I'll just have to forgo something so I'll have the money to buy a couple next month. 👍

Well, we do have some inland waterways...25,000 mi (40,000 km) of them! I live on the Schulkyll, which once was a thriving canal system from the coal country down to Philadelphia. When the railroads came along, they quickly took that traffic over, though. Here's a 15-ep playlist of an interesting 1,300 mile cruise from Chicago to Mobile: kzbin.info/www/bejne/norZi2WMm86Bras Laurn and Kirk of S/V Soulianus struck and shipped her mast for the journey. If you are in Potter County, you're not that far from the Allegany. Once there, you could paddle your kayak all the way to the Gulf of Mexico! Take a lunch. :-)

Perhaps a screw in PCV adapter into the water tank, a pipe up, a tee fitting and pipes in both directions to both boat sides and two screw caps. That would make it easily accessible from either side. Or a pipe straight up to a hose reel with side rollers and a small motor to wind it back

It's a work in progress but it's relatively easy to use and it can also show CRT stoppages or works information directly on the map which is quite handy I've found. We were quite lucky last year as we found lots of trees to hide under. Being from Australia I also managed to strategically hang up umbrellas over windows to act as awnings. I'm surprised more narrowboats (or any narrowboats) don't have awnings.

Hi both I know you have only had the boat for a few weeks one question why did you not have the hinges replaced while you was moored in the marina etc or was it about the time you had in the marina nice vlog boat looks very nice it will be fantastic when you two have finished with her 😀😀👍👍

Good question. In our case it came down to money as we had just bought a new boat.

I was telling my wife about your great videos etc -and her first question to me would you believe, was - - how do you dry your bedding sheets after a wash ? - (sorry about this)

A valid and sensible question. We hang them over the airer in the sun and rotate them. On Ewart we had a line in the middle of the boat that would dry everything.

It's so cool to see you doing the very same stretch we did less than a week ago. The moorings by the water point as I said to Mags must be cheap who'd choose to live there under the busiest road in the world. How did you cope with the locks? I found some of them very heavy. Tattenhall lock at Bridge 32 as we were coming out the bloody gates wouldn't stay closed.

Some of the locks were heavy and one in particular didn't close we had to kind of jump off the boat and do a little run to the front- all good fun. I saw you were doing the same stretch, but I think you may have moved a bit quicker than us.

I like this boat. Are you thinking of getting a cover for the stern? This would give you some more space when moored up and would come handy on days like these.

Thank you so much for sharing your adventure with us. I found this these videos while following the series of 'Cruising the Cut', and I'm really glad I did. I've now watched you from the very beginning and now that you have your new boat, I can't wait to follow you some more. Your videos just get better as you go on. I don't own a narrowboat so following these videos is a wonderful experience for me. You have some really lovely background instrumental music that you overlay but it saddens me that you find it necessary to use vocal tracks while showing us the wonderful scenery on our canal network and the use of those vocal tracks just destroys the moment for me (I imagine that whilst you're cruising, all you can hear apart from the engine is the wonderful sounds of nature, so why not share the silence and beauty with your viewers). I find myself constantly muting the volume so I can continue watching. That said, a great series of videos and look forward to many more as you continue with your adventure.
