wish, they would have included Thora into the TV show, maybe it would have made the transition of Ragnar from Lagertha to Aslaug a bit easier to digest. Him betraying Lagertha didn´t sit well, it would have been fine, to stay true to the story and the two just getting divorced because they weren´t such a great match after all.

Well, very little of that TV show was legitimate. They had characters from all sorts of incompatible timelines, families made out of unrelated people, children given to other mothers for drama, and they had to pit Ragnar's wives against one another for ratings even though it is likely they never even met face to face. So overlooking Thora was the least of their problems. That said, I did enjoy the program for several seasons until they sort of lost control of it due to aforementioned issues. [Edit] If you enjoyed Vikings, look up Netflick's show Norsemen. It ran for three seasons and was spectacular as a parody of the series Vikings.

I liked the show until the end of the heathen army arc! It just wasn't the same without Ragnar! There were good episodes here and there!

Aslaug was the mother of all of Ragnar’s sons, I thought it was unfortunate that the TV show didn’t keep it on track with actual history, and that they didn’t keep the show going with other famous Vikings.

The creator said his goal was never to be historically accurate….his goal was to make a very entertaining series. Which is funny, considering it was on the History Channel 😂

Did not even know about Thora… why did Vikings delete her?
@teresa67752 күн бұрын
I guess the same reason they got so much of the rest of the series so wrong. Who knows why

In history Aslaug was actually Björns mother not Lagertha

Ragnar is my ancestor through a daughter of his named Alof Ragnarsdottir who is largely unknown. Our line continued to carry on with Asta Gudbrandisdottir who was the mother of both olaf the second and Harald hardrada. I'm very proud of these ancestors.

I traced a line of my ancestry to Eirik the Victorious who was supposedly a descendant of Bjorn Ironside but it's difficult to judge the veracity of that descendance. I also suspect there were some shaky details in my tree to Eirik but it's fun to imagine I might be descended from viking legends

Who was the viking king who's feast Aslaug died at? The auto-captions got the spelling wrong

The tale of ragnars sons mentions someone named King Eystein a stepson of hers as the killer of Aslaug, but theres many kings that used that name and I havent been able to find much information about him specifically tho
