If Rebecca was a child then why does the verses refer to her as a young woman-Genesis 24:16 ❓when God tested Abrahams faith Issac was called a Lad-Genesis 22:12 meaning he was a young boy. Ishmael was also referred to as a lad in Genesis 21:12-20. When Abraham had Ishmael he was 86-Genesis 16:16. And when he had Isaac he was 100-Genesis 21:5. And if you do the math that means the (lad) Ishmael was 14 years old when Issac was born. Issac was most likely also 12-14 when God tested Abraham. Sarah conceived Issac when she was 90, and she died when she was 127. If Issac was 14 In Genesis 22:22 that means Sarah was 104 and that also means she died 23 years later and 14+23=37. And Issac was 37 when his Mother died. In Genesis 21:20 Abraham finds out that his younger brother Nahor whom he hasn’t seen in over 40 years all ready had multiple children with his wife. If Nahor conceived children to his wife shortly after Abraham left that means their youngest son bethul the father of Rebecca was over 25 years old when Abraham received the news. Unlike Sarah Nahor’s wife was not barren, so that shows they were able to have kids at a younger age. Rebekah being 3 makes no sense at all, do you not know that it’s impossible for little children as young as 3 years old to get pregnant⁉️ so Sarah has twins with Issac as a child❓you’ll find no where in the Bible where it refers to women or even young women being younger than 17. Isaac was born when Sarah was 90 years old (Genesis 17:15-22). Sarah died at the age of 127, this would make Isaac 37 at the time of her mother's demise (Genesis 23:1-3). Some still think they are Children at ages of 25, so in 100 years maybe the age will be 25 minimum for marriage so now everyone that is married at age 18-24 is bad. Only last 100 years changed the age of marriage for women from 7 - 16 and for men from 10-16 btw. Hey, I saw it as a Christian. Three issues here: 1. Rabbi takes Rebekah's age for granted. Nothing support, no evidence, no chain of assumptions (there are some!) 2. Rabbi "reveals" that the sharp contradiction between the girl's maturity and her supposed age is just because a 3 y.o equals a 20 y.o. Again no support, no examples, no evidence. Just recalling some old rabbinic opinions which are just as baseless. 3. Different approach to marriage. In the times of Isaac and Abraham the Torah was yet to be given to Israel. Some 500 years before Moses they weren't able to serve the Lord according to the Laws of the Torah. (Just remember the wife of Jacob stealing family idols from her father. By the standards of the Law, Rachel should have been put to death.)

At the end of Genesis 22, you have the passage about Abraham and Isaac. Abraham finally gets some news from home. He's been away from his family for a long long time and he hears some news. Abraham was told “Milkah is also a mother she has borne sons to your brother Nahor: - Uz the firstborn, - Buz, - Kemuel (the father of Aram), - Kesed - Hazo, Pildash, - Jidlaph, - and Bethuel.” Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. From this verse, the Muslim scholars conclude that Rebekah was born when Isaac was 37. In other words, they “read” this verse like all of those children were born right then, on the previous day, and not across many years So, to get an age, you have to say Rebecca and all these other people were born right now, right when Abraham heard about it.

No Furthermore, such a benign, mundane action as retrieving water doesn't require a dissertation or explicit reference. Nor is retrieving water such a miracle. To refrain from further exposing disbelief in God's sovereignty, remember a supposed marriage at 3 years old would have been lawful according to times and customs. Critical thought and context. Ezekiel chapter 16 metaphorically pictures Israel as an orphan girl, whom it is only appropriate to marry and gave relations with once she had physically matured, old enough that hair had grown long and her breasts were formed. Rebekah wasn't 3. You can't begin to support it and it falls apart with minimal scrutiny. They would not have the social understanding to do that. And she was “old enough” then when the servant ask for her had, the parents brought her in and sought her wishes before promising her in marriage to Isaac. Nothing in that indicates that she was a 3 year old.

I've read the Torah and the old testament. In none of these books does it say Rebekah was 3 years old. It is only said the news of Milcah having children reached Abraham and Issac was 37 years old. News took a long time to reach someone. Especially if they are constantly traveling. Even in today's technology I just learned my cousin has 4 kids. He's 5 years younger than me. And only lives 2.5 hours away from me. And the oldest of his kids is older than my oldest son who is 11. None of his kids were born the day I received the news that my cousin has 4 kids. So why must we assume Rebekah was just born when Issac was 37 and received the news. Because they listened to Rabbi Rashi who lived in the 11th century to add his commentary and not question if it is even accurate. Muslims have been using this idea and teaching to say pedophilia is perfectly okay. Even Jewish Rabbis need to be evaluated before being accepted as standard.
