I'm a revert from Canada.. My family are catholics, my grandmother was 13 or 14 when she was married to my Grandfather who was nearly 25 and these are French Canadains just within the last 100yrs. All of these people who mock this age thing are just totally ignorant of human history and societal norms. Young marriages wasnt an Arab thing, it was a worldly thing. Customs, climate, economic conditions, hostile regions etc all play a huge factor. Anyone who has even a pea size amount of intellect would never utter this foolish claim ever again.

I don't care what the age of Aisha was. Muhammad(may peace and blessings be upon him) was the final prophet of the one and only, Almighty Allah. If Almighty Allah accepted this marriage, then I definitely accept it. Just because humans self-willingly change the marriage age to X years of age, that doesn't mean that is correct.

King Richard II of England married a 6-7 years old. He was 29 years old, and she was six. and this was 600 years ago. with this mirrage it bringed peace to france and England. According to the Bible, Marry married at 12 to Joseph at 90 years old According to the Bible, Rebecca married Isaac when she was 3 years old. The age of consent in Japan in 2016 was 13 years old. And this was 8 years ago.. imagine 1400 years ago. There some countries like Danmark, Argentina and more that marry at young age. The age of consent was different back then and now. We can't compare times before then and now. People back then didn't know how old they're because they didn't care. Aisha was 15 years old in some book, and in some hadiths, she was 6 years old. @@PB.JACKSON you are comparing today's standards to those of ancient times. In the Bible, Mary is said to have married Joseph when she was 12 and he was 90! Infact, Rebecca married Isaac when she was 3 and he was 40 I believe Point is, times change. 150 years ago in Western UK, females would marry close to the ages of Aisha and allegedly Mary. Times simply change and the standards are diffetent. The factors that affect this are nuumerous. Back then, infant mortality was high and life expectancy was extremely low, so marriage of a female in her 20s or even late teens was essentially unheard of. No one can risk marriage during their late 20s,only to then die some years later due to poor healthcare amd war. That is a couple hundred years ago, now imagine 1400 years ago! You also need to imagine that due to the exceptionally rough climate and living conditions of the desert, people back then would be introduced to hard work and labour from a young age. People grew up tough and could handle many things that we might not dare to attempt. Due to this, both males and females had to get married early. Back then, they would be mentally, physically and sexually ready earlier than today's times. For God's sake, there are 20 year olds today who still play video games. Back then, 20 year olds would fight wars and go on lengthy trips on camel-back to get some water and food. Conclusion of all this is that you cannot apply your Western-Liberal-Secular standards on 6th and 7th century Arabia, or 6th and 7th century Europe.

Now let’s calculate Prophet Mohamed last wife “ Aisha “ was born in : 606 A.D Married the prophet in : 620 A.D then prophet Mohamed entered her room after 3 years and couple months In 624 A.D (14+3+1=18 years old) (١٤ + ٣ + ١ = ١٨ سنة كاملة) وهي السن الحقيقية التي تزوج فيها النبي الكريم (عائشة) Ayesha sister Asma died when she was 100`s years old in 73 hijri (100-73 = 27 years old) Now let’s see Aisha Age : her sister Asma age = 27 Aisha age = 17 that’s all when the prophet went to Medina (Al-Hijra) (27-10-17) and the prophet married her one year after the hijra. (17+1=18) Proving that Ayesha the last wife of prophet Mohamed was at least 18 years of age at time of marriage which is a legal age for any girl to get married with anyone *Proof#2* According to almost all the historians, Asma the elder sister of Aisha, was ten years older than Aisha. It is reported in Taqreeb al-Tehzeeb as well as in Ibn Kathir's Al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah that Asma died in the 73rd year after migration of Muhammad when she was 100 years old. Now, obviously if Asma was 100 years old in the 73rd year after Migration to Medina, she should have been 27 or 28 years old at the time of migration. If Asma was 27 or 28 years old at the time of hijrah, Aisha should have been 17 or 18 years old at that time. Thus, if Aisha got married in year 1 AH or 2 AH (after Migration to Medina), she must have been between 18 to 20 years old at the time of her marriage. *Proof #3* In Bukhari, Kitab-ul-Manaaqib, it is narrated that Aisha said: لم أعقل أبوي قط إلا وهما يدينان الدين ولم يمر علينا يوم إلا يأتينا فيه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم طرفي النهار بكرة وعشية فلما ابتلي المسلمون خرج أبو بكر مهاجرا قبل الحبشة “I became conscious of the world after my parents had accepted Islam. And every day, the Prophet (pbuh) would visit us twice, earlier and later in the day. After the community went through severe trials (when Islam was publicly pronounced) Abu-Bakr decided to head to Abyssinia (to flee persecution ) When does a child reach the age of consciousness? At least at the age of 5 or 6 right? Aisha was telling her memories, remembering the Prophet’s visits to her house when she was young. The trials of the Muslims started with the public pronouncement of Islam, which happened in the 3rd year of the Prophet’s mission. This precipitated a severe wave of persecution for the Muslims. They had no choice but to flee Mecca in the 5th year of Islam. This indicates that by the 5th year, Aisha was at least 7 or 8 years old. If Hijra took place in the 13th year, then she must have been at least 15 or 16. If she got married to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) over 2 years after Hijra, then she must have been at least 18 when it happened. *Proof #4* In Bukhari, Kitab Tafseer-ul-Quran, it is narrated that Aisha (RA) said: لقد أنزل على محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم بمكة وإني لجارية ألعب بل الساعة موعدهم والساعة أدهى وأمر “It was revealed to the Prophet (pbuh) in Mecca, while I was a still playing as a child, the ayah [from surat al-Qamar]: “The last hour is the time when they shall truly meet their fate; and that last hour will be most calamitous, and most bitter”(Quran 54:46). So Aisha was conscious enough to understand the verses of the Quran and remember their meaning. Surat al-Qamar was revealed in the 6th year of the Prophet’s mission as Qurtubi mentioned. Now how old Aisha must have been at the time? At least 8 or 9 I would say. If Hijra took place in the 13th year, then she was at least 15 or 16 at the time, which puts her at the age of 17 or 18 when she got married. *Proof #5* Imam Ahmad narrates the circumstances of Aisha’s marriage to the Prophet (pbuh). He says that al-Mut’am b. A’dy proposed to her for his son Jubayr. When the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) approached Abu-Bakr asking for her hand in marriage, he told him that another family already approached him about the same thing and that he had to honor that. Later, Abu Bakr met al-Mut’am and his wife. He sensed hesitate from the mother of Jubayr. She said: “أخشى أن تُصبأ عائشةُ جبيرا” or “I worry Aisha would convert my son Jubayr to Islam". Abu Bakr asked the father about it, and he said that he had a similar concern as his wife. The marriage was called off and Abu Bakr told the Prophet (pbuh) That Aisha was available. How old must she have been in order to have this kind of influence? She must have been a charismatic, eloquent adult for Jubayr’s family to be concerned that she might convert their son to Islam. She definitely was not a child. *Proof #6* Muhammad b. Is’haaq, the great historian and biographer of Islam, and the teacher of ibn-Hishaam and Tabari, created a list of the first people that accepted Islam in his book as-Seera an-Nabawiyyah. He places Aisha at #19. Since the first 20 conversions must have happened in the first year, then Aisha was at least 5 years old to have that kind of consciousness (she was probably older). If she was at least 5 in the first year, then at Hijra she was at least 18 right? Which puts her at the age of 20 when she got married to the Prophet (pbuh) two years later. *Proo #7* Historians agree that Asmaa’, Aisha’s sister، was at least 27 during Hijra, as referenced by the great historian and biographer ibn-ul Atheer in his book Ussd-ul-Ghaba. Since Asmaa’ was at most 10 years older than her sister (as ibn Abdel Barr said in his book al-Istee’aab fy Ma’rifat il-Asshaab), that puts Aisha at the age of 17 at the time of Hijra, which makes her at least 19 at the time she married the Prophet (pbuh)

There are many Hadith, in English, about Aisha's age they generally state as this Hadith does : "It was narrated from 'Aishah that the Messenger of Allah married her when she was six years old, and consummated the marriage with her when she was nine." Grade: Sahih (Darussalam) Reference : Sunan an-Nasa'i 3255 It is graded as Sahih by some, but that is wrong. These Hadith were transmitted by Hishaam ibn Urwa or sometimes it's just stated Hishaam, one and the same person. When Hishaam grew old his memory suffered very badly and it was then that he transmitted these Hadith. In the science of Hadith there are five conditions that must be met in order for a hadith to be graded as Sahih. One of the conditions is that the narrator have a high precision of memory. Hishaam had a very bad memory and therefore doesn't meet the criteria in fact as his memory was very bad the Hadith is Apocryphal, Daef or false. There is a Hadith transmitted by Umaartubnu Ghazeyah but he is listed as being Daef and therefore the Hadith is Daef. The Hadith such as these are Apocryphal, Daef or false and many people do not know. Asma, Aisha's sister, was 10 years older than Aisha. Asma died in 73 AH at 100. Which makes Aisha around 17 at the time of Hijra to Medina. She was conducted to her husband, Peace be upon him in a later Shawwal making her 19 years and 10 months old. In The Holy Qur'an Allah says "...Marry who seem good to you from THE WOMEN...' 4:3 Marry THE WOMEN NOT CHILDREN. Extra knowledge: The fourth chapter, The Women, starts with "O' Mankind…" 4:1 and therefore the address is to Mankind. In Hadith 10 from 40 Hadith an-Nawawi It is noted that : "Verily Allah commanded The Believers* because He commanded with it The Messengers and Allah said "O' The Messengers Eat from The Good and Act Righteously" and He said "O' Those who Believe* Eat from The Good which We provided you"..." We note that Allah addresses The Messengers separately from The Believers* and this is true throughout the Qur'an. Therefore, Allah begins Chapter 4 with : "O' Mankind…" 4:1 and the address is to Mankind and excludes The Messenger, Muhammad, Peace be upon him. As the chapter continues it still addresses Mankind and says : "...Marry who seem good to you from THE WOMEN...' 4:3 This address is part of the address to Mankind and not to The Messenger Muhammad, Peace be upon him, who is excluded from this address. However, Further along in The Chapter, The Women, Allah says : "Allah wishes to make clear for you and guide you to The Practices of those from before you…" 4:26 In this verse which is still addressing Mankind Allah says He makes clear for you, Mankind, and guides you, Mankind, to The Practices of those from before you, and The practices of those before you is to, as Allah says : "...Marry who seem good to you from THE WOMEN...' 4:3 and those before you are The Prophets. All The Prophets from before their practice was to marry Women NOT children exonerating them from any and all blame. and Allah says : "...Never will you find in The Practice of Allah A Changing…" 35:43 and their other verse from elsewhere in The Quran. And no changing in The Practice of Allah in respect to The messenger of Allah, Muhammad, Peace be upon him. The Prophet Muhammad's practice was already in line with The Practice of The Prophets from before that he and they only married women and therefore it was not necessary to address him,Peace be upon him, when Allah began The Chapter, The Women, with " O' Mankind…". Allah makes clear and guides Mankind to The Practice of those before us namely The Prophets and The Practice of Muhammad, Peace be upon him, in which there was no change in that practice from before to : "...Marry who seem good to you from THE WOMEN...' 4:3 Marry THE WOMEN NOT THE CHILDREN. There is more evidence but it would make this too long.

1.Hisham is known to be trustworthy according to the ijma from the time of the salaf until now. He may have indeed had memory problems towards the end of his life however that doesn’t matter as he wasn’t narrating this Hadith at that age, that first claim is misleading 2.the Hadiths were mass transmitted by more people than hisham meaning they all passed the test of scrutiny and the narrator from the start if the chain is Aisha RA herself. 3. Uthman said in the video that these Hadiths are sahih grade and this is uncontested. Aisha did say those things, this video was made to add context to those Hadith. 4. The age difference between the sisters actually has a weak narrator in the chain, being abdulrehman bin Abi zinaad. Authentic narrations can’t be rejected because of weaker ones.

The age issue is problematic cos all the hadith regarding Aisha and Asma ages conflict with each other. However, what we know from other hadiths is that the Prophet and Aishah herself referred to her as being very young. Apparently she's the youngest among the other wives. The kuffaar of Quraysh called Rasoolullaah (sallAllaahu alaihi wa sallam) all sorts of names when he came with the message of tawheed. They would call him magician, soothsayer, liar, etc. Aoodhubillaah. But they never ever called him out for marrying Aisha because that was so totally normal during that time. Just like it was totally normal for them to marry women that are older too. As long as puberty hit, men and women were allowed to marry each other. And that's how it is. Today we have it all twisted and messed up and we can see the consequences of it in our societies because of it, doesn't mean that we need to change our values.

At that time there was no schooling system that's why children started working with their parents at a very young age which led to early mental maturity and physical strength. For example, Muhammad bin Qasim was just 17yo when he did many conquests and nowadays 17yo boy study in school/college. These mental models keep changing all the time. My grandmother didn't have a birth certificate so till date we don't know what her age was. She just passed away four years ago. My family members assume that she was about 78 or 80. Answered by Allama Syed Abdullah Tariq: It is widely believed that Hazrat Ayesha’s age was seven years when she was married to the Prophet (Pbuh) and she was 9 when she came to live with him but this is wrong. The fact is that she was 17 when married and 19 at the time of her rukhsati (departure from her home to the husband’s house). There are too many indisputable evidences in favour of this. A few of those are listed below: 1. Imam Waliuddin Muhammad Abdullah Al-Khateeb, the author of famous work on Hadith, namely Mishkaat was also an acknowledged expert of Asma-ur-Rijal (the unique art of research on people). He registered the following about Hazrat Asma at the end of Mishkaat. “She is Asma, the daughter of Abu Bakr Siddiq...She is the mother of Abdullah Bin Zubair... She was 10 years older than her sister Ayesha.. .She died at the age of 100 in Makkah in 73AH...”(Mishkaat, Asma-ur-Rijal) There is unanimity among all the scholars of Asma-ur-Rijal and historians on the above-mentioned facts. It can be easily computed from above that being 100 years old in 73 AH, Hazrat Asma, daughter of Hazrat Abu Bak’r was at least 27 (100-73) years old at the time of Hijrah of the Prophet (Pbuh). If she died in the beginning of 73 AH, then her age was (100-72) 28 years at Hijrah. It is stated above that she was 10 years older than Hazrat Ayesha. It means Hazrat Ayesha was 18 years old at Hijrah. She came into the Nikah of the Prophet (Pbuh) one year before Hijrah and she shifted to the Prophet’s house two years later. Clearly, she was 17 at the time of nikah and 19 at her rukhsati. 2. The historians have placed Hazrat Ayesha between No. 17 and 20 in the list of those who were earliest to embrace Islam. Ibne Ishaq, the earliest authentic Islamic historian has placed her at No. 18. We also know that Hazrat Umar was the 40th person to embrace Islam and he entered into the faith in the first year of prophet hood. It means Hazrat Ayesha was among those few who embraced Islam almost immediately after the declaration of prophet hood. She must have been at least 5 years old to be categorized in the list of those who embraced Islam. Therefore her age was 18 when Hijrah came about 13 years later. Examination of Hazrat Ayesha’s biography through accounts of Asma-ur-Rijal reveals that she was 17 when married to the Prophet and 19 when she came to live with him Now imagine this. The saying goes that she was 7 at her nikah i.e. 8 at Hijrah that occurred 13 years after the declaration of prophethood. If it were true the declaration of prophethood occurred 5 years before her birth. Did she embrace Islam 5 years prior to her birth? 3. There are indications that she was among those who went to war of Badr’ but her presence in the battleground of Uhad is beyond doubt. It is in many authentic books of Hadiths and history that she was among those women in Uhad who were carrying water to the injured Sahaba. Now remember the incident of two young boys Rafe and Samra who were 13 and the Prophet (Pbuh) was not permitting them to join forces for their age but later agreed to their pleading as they were very enthusiastic. If Hazrat Ayesha was 10 when Uhad came about in 2 AH, was it possible that a new bride of 10 would have been permitted while the young boys of 13 were refused permission to go to battle ground of Uhad? On the contrary if she was 18 at Hijrah her age was 20 and fit to take care of the injured in the battlefield when Uhad took place. There are quite a number of other irrefutable evidences of her age being 19 when she entered into the Prophet’s home 2 years after her Nikah to him. The wrong notion of her being 7 at marriage is widely accepted (and many Fiqh deductions are erroneously made on its basis) as there is a false report narrated by Hashsham bin Urwah in all the six most authentic collections of Hadith i.e. Sihah-e-Sittah. Hashsham bin Urwah was a very reliable narrator according to all scholars but this fact skipped the scrutiny of the famous Muhaddiseen of Sihah-e-Sittah that Hashsham became forgetful and unbalanced at his old age when he shifted to Iraq. The said report was narrated by him while he was in Iraq. Hashsham was the teacher of Imam Malik and he has accepted a number of Hadiths narrated by him in his collection of Hadith, Muatta. It was none other than Imam Malik, Hahsham’s disciple who declared after Hashsham shifted to Iraq that none of his former teachers’ statements were reliable anymore because of his mental condition. The compilers of Sihah-e-Sittah, all being non-Arabs were not aware of it. Now you know that when Hazrat Ayesha came to the Prophet’s house she was a major. The age difference is still considerable but no law of any land objects to the union of mutual willful consent of two majors. Remember also that the Prophet (pbuh) possessed exceptional health at 53 with all his hair black and he being stronger than most youngsters. Besides he was an ideal husband and the history testifies to his ideal care of his young wife with all the psychological considerations. Sheikh in USA the age of marriage of a self declared "emancipated minor" can be as low as 12 years in this age and time . Also with parental consent many states allow marriage less than 18 in the USA.
