FWIR, The British didn't translate the maintenance and repair manuals for the Spitfire's sent over to the USSR. The Soviet air crews were really handicapped by this oversight.

Also interesting how two USA 'discards', the Cobra and the Brewster Buffalo set WWII records for kills.

It is fascinating how the type of fighting changed the success of aircraft. The P-39 was a poor fighter much above 15,000 ft or if range was required. The Eastern front utilized short range missions at low altitude. The P-39 in the Pacific faced high altitude long range missions.
