I think there's 3 main reasons One, Lois having powers is obviously temporary. As fans we can enjoy this as a fun status quo shake up and not them permanently altering the lore and characters in a weird way Two, Lois and Clark are still happily together. MJ becoming Jackpot seems like another nail in the coffin of her and Peter's marriage while Lois as Superwoman is letting her be with Clark more Three, Jackpot is one of the stupidest names I've ever heard

For Superman 19, I like that Clark and Lois (as Superwoman) worked together to protect Metropolis with Supercorp’s help, including defeating the Atomic Skull and encountering Doomsday, before Clark realized that the Time Trapper (who is Doomsday because Time Trapper is a sentient alternate timeline who wanted the main timeline to become his timeline) needed his help with something. Also, Lex being shocked at the man he was (i.e. him wanting to kill Superman) before he told his daughter Lena that he’ll be fine. Overall, this is a great comic. For the Superwoman Special, I like that Lois explained to Kara and Lana about her having writer’s block, talking about the events of Absolute Power, and explaining how she got her powers while having a girl’s night out by fighting criminals and saving the day as the Superwomen; although it would’ve made sense for Kara to become the second Superwoman (after Kristen Wells), Lana to become the fourth Superwoman (after Lucy Lane), and Lena to become the fifth and latest Superwoman, in my opinion. I also like that Lois revealed her Superwoman identity to Clark the same way he revealed his identity to her before she and the Superman Family worked together to save Metropolis. Also, Mercy knowing how Lois’ powers came to be (which is from Zod) and lying to her to protect her from the truth. Overall, this is a good special. For Superman 21, I like that Clark and Lois have their date on the moon, in Gemworld (where Amethyst, who should remember her entire history from her debut in 1982 to the present, sent them here to bring peace or something), and in Smallville, where (in all of these places) Clark told Lois what Time Trapper told him about Doomsday before the Aftermath arrived to make sure that Earth brings Doomsday to them or else. Also, three interludes with shows Jimmy and Silver Banshee on a date, Doomday dreaming about killing Superman (because of the Black Mercy), and Lex and Mercy having a chat. Overall, this comic is great!

I am so confused by DC main universe continuinity at this point. Even though they've used several events to say "everything is canon", they are very clearly picking and choosing, and at this point it also just feels way too crowded timeline wise. Just the amount of things that have had to happen in such a short span of time because DC refuses to let time move forward at a reasonable pace. Like if they just gave us 5 more years. That'd help a lot. It probably felt the most insane (I didn't hate it, but it boggled the mind) when I realized Jay Garrick got a new daughter who was erased from existence and brought back (even though I'm pretty sure she's new publication wise too), Barry Allen proposed to Iris for the FIRST TIME, and Wally West has his third son all in the same year. Three generations of Flash and that all happened in the same year publication wise. I think in universe there was even less time between the events (if any). It gets really frustrating with the child characters because they're constantly drawn and act like they're older and younger based on the book when no time has passed in universe. It's nothing I care too much about, but it feels like DC has to be making things confusing on purpose at this point.

7:49 Superman Reborn undid some of the Manhattan/Pandora stuff, rewriting people's memories so that everything Superman related has mostly pre-Flashpoint lore (with certain New 52 things mixed in here and there). So, for Lana, there was only ever pre-FP Lois after the Mxyzptlk reality warping event in Superman Reborn, when Jon helped New 52 Clark & Lois merge with Pre-FP Clark & Lois to officially create their merged Rebirth versions (fixing/undoing Manhattan's experiment that ripped out of Lois & Clark their "goodness").

I like Lois as Superwoman/someone with powers (don't need to be exactly a copy of Clark's), but I prefer it to be only in elsewords and for limited (and well planed) amounts of time. There are interesting things to explore with a virtually immortal person in a romantic relationship with a physically very normal human who will die in what will be a fraction of this immortal's life, which even that little time can be shortened with easy by a stray bullet or superpowered fights' collateral damage. Making her permantently or "temporarily" superpowered ruins that, and there are other characters to explore such mechanics and topics if they want, so use them for a permanent power couple instead.

Honestly I had no idea Lois has had superpowers or has gone by Superwoman before. I quite enjoy the idea of Lois as a temporary superhero and Lois's reaction to Doomsday and her and Clark's superdate is just chefs kiss. It's kinda funny that both Lois and Jon who have been heroes for a shorter time took up the mantles of Superwoman and Superman while Kara and Kon are stuck with Supergirl and Superboy

18:30 Lois is the one civilian love interest that I have zero issue with getting powers. Mostly, I think, because the ample precedence gives me confidence that it'll only be a fun short-term thing. Removing any sort of regular life (be that civilian love interests/supporting casts, day jobs, secret identities, or anything else) has been my number one gripe with superheroes since the mid 2000s.

I appreciate this video more than usual because for some reason comic shipments to my local comic shop have been ridiculously backed up so I have no idea when I'll actually get to read the Superwoman special, which sucks because I was enjoying the Lois with powers plot line. Sorry, but I'm going to go off on a brief rant here. I live in Sydney, Australia and we have been absolutely shafted by the comic book industry. My local hasn't received anything from Diamond Distribution - so that's the bulk of American comic books, including Marvel - for something like six months. They were still getting shipments from Lunar - i.e. DC and maybe one or two other indie publishers - until four or five weeks ago and now nothing from them either. So for over a month they have not received a single new comic book. Worst of all, the distributors refuse to give them any answers and don't even bother to inform them that the shipments have been delayed, the shop owner has to chase them up himself. Thankfully they sell collectables and have a warehouse of back issues, so they've had to rearrange their store to focus on those. Obviously though, the loss of income is still horrible and, frankly, inexcusable. Personally, I think they're owed compensation. It's beyond ridiculous and honestly I think the wider comic book community needs to be aware of the situation. Comic book artist David Yardin tried to raise awareness on social media a few months back but sadly it didn't seem to amount to anything. Heck, they hosted a signing event with Leonore Zann (Rogue, X-Men '97) a few months ago yet they still can't get anyone to give them the time of day. They have been an integral part of the Sydney comic book community - which is strong and thriving, by the way - for over thirty years and to see them treated this way just makes me incredibly angry. We only have two or three comic book shops left in Sydney, so if we lose this one due to utter carelessness and disregard from distributors and publishers, then that will be a dark day indeed.

In terms of the idea that this is a different version of Lois than the one Lana knew, I don’t think that’s true anymore? Because iirc in the Superman Rebirth run the new 52 Lois and Clark were sort of combined with their pre-Flashpoint selves? Into what was basically their pre-Flashpoint selves except they’d also gone through the New 52 stuff, so the writers didn’t have to deal with the complicated baggage of it being versions of Clark and Lois who were “unfamiliar” to the rest of their heroes and friends. So this should have been the same Lois who became Superwoman at the end of the New 52? But I doubt they’ll reference that.

Everything N52 that was incompatible (like Clark × Diana) got erased by Superman Reborn (after having been awkwardly acknowledged in early DC Rebirth), though, which certainly includes Lois dying and therefore most probably Lois getting powers which led to that, to begin with, as well. Heck, with Clark not dying (that time), they must have revamped how Lana got her powers, too.

The history behind the Superwoman name is fascinating. Not just because of how many characters have used the name, but for how different they often are from each other. You could honestly make a team out of the Lois Lane Superwoman, the Lana Lang Superwoman and the Kristen Wells Superwoman, and said team's powerset would not only be fairly diverse, I dare say it would have the potential to be quite effective. Maybe they could be pitted against the Earth-3 Superwoman just to create maximum confusion for the comic solicits.

I dunno, I think Lois with Superman powers doesn't actually do anything for her character. Like, at least if it was a different power set that would be something, but for now Super-family is already filled to the brim with characters with the same powers, that do the same thing, mostly act the same and even kinda look the same, and now Lois is just another Super-person without anything that would made her stand out.

I think the end of the special does something that the setup provided by the Time Trapper was that Zod was going to cause something to the timeline. It's also interesting that maybe Lois getting powers wasn't in the cards that the Time Trapper saw.

Ok after looking up the history of Gotham girl a Gotham girl vs Superwoman blue story line might be an interesting miniseries. Especially is the worked Lois becoming superwoman permanently at the end because nothing has been done with Gotham Girl. We know that it has been said that Lois having power is temporaryish. Which makes me think maybe she somehow gains a different set of permanent powers. In one solicitation it talks about Lois lane time traveling what that is a power linked to her and not just using technology to do it also I still want her to be earth blue lantern.

Lois with powers is definitely more entertaining than reckless unpowered Lois. No matter how smart and independent she was, that damsel aspect was always there and it always got old no matter how often they rebooted it. I hope they don't do something cliche and dumb like the powers giving her cancer or making her sterile or slowly turning her into Zod. Either leave the powers alone, or have them fade over time in a nice predictable fashion. That way we can see what she does with it and how she deals with it in the long term. Also NOT digging the brown hair, it's weird and doesn't seem like Lois. I guess they're going with the Amy Adams version?

And, how long did she need to "master/Control" her Super Powers? I mean, we saw Supergirl movies/Series where she there need some time to learn how to fly and something. So, was it instand Mastering her Powers? Well, she had Clark as Teacher. But since he Powers did not last long, i bed they did the shortcut and she could do all like superman. If they want to make an SuperWoman Movie of this, her Powers should hold longer (figures) and Clack or any previous "Superman or Superboy (TV Series)" reached how to use them... or One of them showed her to access the fortress and there she learn it. Sasha's Inernet Rule #34 is when Lois loses her powers the Gray Lantern comes to her aid and steals her from Clark. But her hurt to is to strong and deep and ends up getting a Gray Ring. All in a two month crossover with the Green Lantern book.

As long as critics and fans enjoy this. Superwoman could be around for a while. Everyone is expecting Zod to get his powers back and Lois be normal again. I don’t think it’s going be that simple. We Don’t know what going to happen. I have a feeling somethings going to happen even If Zod gets his powers back., A surprise is going to happen. And it could a big one.

I’ve always found it strange and interesting how malleable the idea of Superwoman has been over the years. Unlike so many other members of the Superman Family or even Batclan there’s never been a definitive, long lastin version of Superwoman. Obviously there’s Lois but she’s never held the position for long and has shared it with other characters like her sister, Obsession and various characters from other Earths. Hell, you could argue that the most well known Superwoman is the villain from Earth 3 that doesn’t even have any connection to Superman!
